I like the way you shot, recorded & edited this video. The pacing felt better than previous videos, keep it up. I know what you mean about how the 2ZZ isn't as fast, because it isn't at all, it's slow and you need to be at the high end for any sort of power, it's just good enough for regular driving and some spirited driving, however still keeps the fun factor.

You could go for the BEAMS 3SGE. As they are also 2 liters and make similar numbers to the K20A from the factory. Albeit they dont rev as high, but they also make just as much torque too. They go for 210ps (207 HP). Or if you still want the revs and essence of VTEC, try the 2ZZ w/ VVTL-i. Though you'll be at a small disadvantage becuase its displacement.

Good unbiased video! K20 is a brilliant lump. I used to own an EP3 Type R. The 2ZZ would be the route I'd choose for cost and simplicity of installation. My only thing with doing a K20 conversion is, for the same overall cost would I not be better off buying something like a Porsche Boxster S? Heavier I know but great car out of the box with a nice bit of power that's more than usable. An interesting one to see would be a 2ZZ with forced induction vs K20, both at similar power levels of course 😎

Tune it to 8 grand and hit that touge hard! Great review and driving impressions!

Man this video is so awesome. I am amazed at the unbiased opinion that you have towards the k20 even tho you have put money and time to a 2zz. This reinforces my want to do a K20 Si or Type R swap on my Spyder once I reach 120k Miles (currently at 51k). I thinks the pros outweigh the price considering you can get a 50k miles certified engine from an importer and have a reliable and fast beast with plenty of availability of parts for years to come. keep the videos up. And if you can please do comparisons between your 2zz swapped Mr2 and the K20 one on the same track to see how they perform. These type of videos will shine alot of light to the community and bring more acceptance of the k20 on mr2s. Thank you for the upload and keep em coming!
