K SERIES CONFUSION! There seems to have been a mix up, the Elise I referred to as having a K20 engine, in fact had the Rover K series engine. I guess someone heard K series and instantly thought the best. Kidding - my mum had a 200vi when I was young, so I have respect for the OG K series! I feel slightly embarrassed, I know a K20 Elise would be faster, but in a sense it's good to know the Toyota reeled in a stock one! (Even if it did only have 160bhp!) An Elise with a well specced K20, would be pretty epic!

The Elise you overtook in the video competes in the Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship in the Production category, there is also a Supersport category where Honda powered Elise's compete. Last year at the LCUK Speed champs sprint at Blyton, a Honda powered Elise was 6 seconds a lap faster than the car you overtook.

Picked up an 01 mr2 yesterday... gonna enjoy it another 4-6 weeks, then put it into storage over the winter. As soon as i have my taxes done, im pulling my car out and getting a built, turbo'd k20 dropped in it. Then probably the following year i will complete the car with a widebody kit, upgraded rims (wider rims), a chassis mounted wing, rear diffuser, upgraded sudpension.

Hey Danny. What an epic track day, man! Nice to seeing you and Chunky Chuck riding together again and certain parts of the video reminded me of you two enjoying an Edirty6 drift day... good times, for sure! The MR2 took a whippin' and absolutely performed like a champ! Hard to believe that was your first track outing in the car... you looked pretty comfortable flogging it about. The pedal cam is always welcome. Your heel-toe action is on the money per usual, but a dab of left foot braking, too? That takes some doing. I tried that a few times and almost flew through the windscreen. haha. Respect on a great drive, Dan. Seriously entertaining video all around, but that black flag moment ended up being a real crowd-pleaser and made for a killer thumbnail. hahaha. Awesome to see you having such fun in this special little car. Cheers dude!!!

Yo Mick, yeah it was an epic day. A faultless car, great weather and great company! What more can a man ask for... Glad you enjoyed it man.

Sorry to disappoint but that wasn't a K20 Elise, it was Adam Ruck in his 1.8 Rover K series, approximately 160bhp. Great driving though.
@drholmes10036 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts. There was never a K20 Elise, only a Rover K series.
@dannyDC26 жыл бұрын
Whoops! I got told bad information. Apologies. Wondered why mine was pulling it in! Drholmes - many Lotus owners have swapped their cars to the Honda engine!
@99Lezard996 жыл бұрын
Even if that wasnt the Honda k series, Elises get swaped with Honda k series very often. The Rover k series comes standard in the mk1 elises till Toyotas 2zz was used on later models doesnt it? I had the chance to go on a casual drive with a 2zz elise once and i loved it. Just the price of that car wasnt really what you'd call a bargain.
@drholmes10036 жыл бұрын
I was, of course, referring to its out the factory state. Many things have been K20'd, so I'm not surprised Elise couldn't have been but if it was, I'd certainly not expect it to be blown past like that. Althought truth be told, there would only be 100-140kg difference in the chassis had you both had the K20 engine in, so you could hypothetically out-drive that weight difference. Anyway, good vid!

Wtf 2 gears! Quality viewing! TIP: Cat on fire with misfire sounds like a COIL PACK issue. Unburnt fuel in piston chamber leading to incomplete combustion with hot exhaust system creating a fire. My old s40 suffered a coil pack failure and the gear linkage melted at the same time (manual).
