Great observation, in the worst case possible that may actually cause a death. From this video though the safety marshalls seem to be very quick so I doubt it's any real risk

The trick is to have the front axle geared higher than the rear. That way when you floor it, the front tends to dig in, and rear doesn't want to flip you backwards.

I lived in Utah and during the 1960's & 1970's when we had the Snow Rallies near Park City. It was abolished in about 1978 mainly because it was one big party in the Salt Lake City hotels and I-80 from Park City to Salt Lake City was lite up like Christmas Tree with police red lights flashing every 500 feet because people being pulled over for being intoxicated. The Utah State Highway Patrol pulled in officers from aroung the state just to cover the Park City Snow Rallies. In 1976 I had a 1972 split-bumper Camaro SS/RS with a 1965 Corvette 396 c.i, engine that was rebuilt with 13 to 1 pistons and big cam, posi-track and air shocks in the rear that was needed for the big fat rear tires. This was the year of excessive deep mud that required all cars to park one-half mile away and walk to the competition hill with only lifted fat-tired 4x4's driving to the competition hill. I had fun and most people acted like it was WOODSTOCK as I was spraying mud when I spun my way all the way to the competition hill with parking on the front row of the spectator area. My brother and I were sitting on the hood of the Camero drinking beers and watching the paddle-tired race engine Jeeps tearing up the hill. When one of the racing jeeps broke down the driver came over and seriously asked me if I wanted to borrow his paddle tires. I asked him "what do you mean by that". He said "Stand up and look around at the vehicles parked up here with everybody else having to walk in because only big tire lifted 4x4's are parked here. My rim bolt pattern is the same as yours, do you want to borrow my paddle tires and run the hill"? Everybody began cheering and ranting for my Yellow Camero to take on the hill. I actually said OK and was going to do it until my brother said "no, don't do it Mike, this Camero is your daily transportation and you probably will end up rolling down the hill like most of the Jeeps" I then reluctantly turned down his offer, but as a consolation the final two years of the Snow Rallies had the advertising brochure showing a picture of the Snow Rally's parking lot from that year which prominently shows my yellow Camero sitting with all the modified 4x4's sitting around it. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I wish for you to have a safe, healthy, good day.

And very, very, $$$$$$$$. Look at the poor slob at 5:47. He got a 5 second run in and now will go home with a broken car that needs time and money. For me, I'd like to get a little more bang for my buck. It looks like most of these guys go home with broken cars and more money to spend. It never stops. I don't know how often this kind of meet happens, but it looks like a lot of wrenching between races. I'm happy to just watch. I'll let someone else spend the money!
