I like that this build is done by a normal guy, on a budget, in his driveway, using hand tools and floor jacks. Nice to see someone on youtube building a car like how we normal people have to.

Trying my best mang! I don't want to sacrifice quality for quantity tho. I'll squeeze in a midweek video when I am able to get ahead! But most of my videos take about 3 days to film and an addition day to edit/upload/thumbnail/title/description/subtitle It seems easy but the time definitely adds up haha But I enjoy it! Which makes it worthwhile 🔥

To get the engine wire harness out, you have to remove the Evaporator box. There's a metal plate with a large piece of foam on it that squished the harness against the fire wall and one of the bolts is impossible to get to without taking out the evaporstor box.

@23:19 i know you arent on final install, but when you are final install dont forget to attach the ground wire that comes off the transmission itself and it attaches to any one of those 6 trans brace to frame bolts. so youre trans is properly grounded to the chasis. that is what that little white plastic clip hanging off the trans cross member brace is for.

@08:00 mins, id remove the back half of the shaft, but that yolk is a great tool, i have a few at my shop for when installing/removing transmissions and for storing transmissions. perfect way to keep trans seals to elements and not leak. love the channel! and appreciate the info on welder!! love the channel hommie!!

The motor mounts being so close makes a lot of sense. The VG and KA share a lot of the same engine bays. The block for the VG30DE is almost the same as the VG30E (same block mount bosses) from the D21 truck that also uses the KA. Nissan did a LOT of part sharing with those cars. You might want to see if the truck KA mounts will set properly into the Z32 bay (unless you've already modified them by this point.) Great content man. Looking forward to a KAT powered Z.

If you are going to use that a/c compressor you need to block the ports so no dirt gets in it. Also if you lift the rear of the car the engine and transmission will go in without having to lift the engine so high.

My favorite budget ratchets are the pitsburg pro swivel heads. I’ve been busting greasy rusty bolts off my 80s vw with no issues so far for the 3/8s and for the 1/2 inch, I’ve used it for over a year in an off-road shop hammering on the end and everything and it’s holding up beautifully for spending I think less than 50 bucks on both

Here's a fun random fact, to make it easier for removal, insert your index finger in the hole that nissan drilled in the center of that wood,bend your finger tip and pull outward. Those Japanese thought of everything. Oh and the bash bar mounts go inside the frame rail far because the round cylinders are a shock absorber. Back in the day they were called 5mph bumpers, they collapse to absorbe the impact if the bumper gets bumped with anything under a 5mph hit.

@21:11 those are actully shock absorbers. they are full of hydrolic fluid, so if you are in front end collision they absorb s shit load of pressure, and compress to try and save your front end from crumpling under the shock. its a mechanic crumple zone =]. p.s im at work. im the dude who has basically 2 decades of z32 exp. always down to help anywhere i can when it comes to z32 🤘🙌

Manufacturers sometimes put weights on motor and trans mounts to lessen vibration.

I've heard of this aswell Although I am still confused why the 240sx comes with a weight bolted to the firewall haha
@HannahFortalezza

They would have been noticing harmonic frequencies without the weights. So long as the weight is there it changes the harmonics and reduces the vibrations during most/all operation

Just a critique for the welding bottles. I dont open them all the way, i only open them one turn so if something goes wrong you can shut it off quickly. Which is what you usually do for oxyfuel sets, not sure if its the correct way but its just the way I was taught.
@PrizzaMike
@PrizzaMike Жыл бұрын
Interesting! I was always told to open it all the way I guess it really just needs to be open enough to maintain the hose pressure to the welder ya know?

@@PrizzaMike that does make sense, idk im not too sure myself really as im just a first year apprentice but seems to work fine for what we do at work. I was told that the first valve is more just like on and off not like a water hose, where as the second valve you can think of as a water hose. I usually run 17-18lpm for argonshield mig, where as tig i usually run 5-10 depending on if im using a tig regulator or a normal regulator.

there is a tiny fill plu on the front or back side of your engine hoist ram housing. dump hydraulic fluid in to that hole until it starts to over flow.. then start pumping that handle again. it will work as it should. unless the o-ring failed, but i dont think it has, as if it did, the motor would start dropping like a rock from the pressure. ive had this happen, it just needs more fluid. id pretty much be willing to bet on it. pretty much lmfao

@08:55 bro, thats nice! you have an unmolested ecu compartment, most of the time you lift those and bolts are missing, ecu sits all cockeyed, there is torn up carpet insulation thrown everywhere from mouse nests. wires have piggy back connectors all over them. the anti theft module is missing, half the connectors for the door harness have been pulled off of there anchoring studs and just left all floppy lol... your z is looking virgin as shit! very nice! head up when you go to remove your efi harness for the new one, there is a fire wall plate attached to the (internal) cabin side of the fire wall, 10mm nut, you can get to it with a ratcheting wrench but it will be a bitch and will test your patience, but loosening that will allow you to better. old one you can cut in engine bay and just pul the ecu connector out through the cabin side, but when installing the new harness for you ka, youll def want that plate loose, dont remove completely though, as if engine bay ever catches fire, that plate prevent fire from spreading into cabin as easily. and could help to save your car from burning to ashes. plate is directly behind the large air handling box that is behind the radio in center of dash, can only be accessed ecu side of car, dont have to remove tray behind ecu but it will make your life a million times easier! much respect!
