Great video. Just did this last weekend. You could have locked the stem in folding position to prevent it from moving. Also, you can just push the mud guard down. No need to remove it.
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, figured we could do both of those things after 😅 Maybe should've re-filmed to not look like dummies lol.

Nice work Kevin. Looking forward to seeing more mods. Just ordered my first beast scooter. The Quickwheel Explorer. 60v. 45amp controllers. And a 36.4 ah. With 21700 cells. Alibaba £980. Sounds a lot of scooter for the money. I’ll keep you posted🙏👊

Damn, that sounds like a beast of a scooter for that low price. Hope it holds up for you, ride safe!

sounds great, but I can't find this scooter with these specs for less that $1,683.00 usd. You got a great deal and those cells are top notch.

PS. If you want chrome-moly, use 4130. This steel doesn’t stretch, while some types do (making torque-ing tricky)

Thank you. Did the new bolt come with thread locker? Off Topic.... can one of the unused buttons on the Dualtron X be used to turn off the front drive wheel?
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
Yup, the new bolt did come with thread locker. I'm not familiar with the buttons, but I believe you should be able to do that with some wiring into the controllers. Not a trivial task if you're not familiar with the controllers though. Good luck!

Great video! I have question regarding cracking handlebar - do you know what should work to remove this annoying sound?
@donscott64314 жыл бұрын
The replacement bolt LOOKED like a stronger steel, either grade 8 (aircraft quality) or a chrome-moly composite. ALWAYS use repair, or modding, to up-grade the quality of steel. This, for shear strength, not tightening strength. For tightening strength, we use the opposite- UNtightening strength (Loc-Tite). When using a superior steel (in a bolt), one should be aware that the metal, into which the bolt is screwed, has NOT been increased, hence, judicial re-tightening of the NEW bolt should not exceed parameters that the original pieces would be subjected to. You have the same tightness, with a now, superior, shock-absorbing column conection. Great video, and forgive my chatter...
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for chiming I’m about steel quality and sheer forces. I don’t know enough about those things yet, but hopefully we learn as necessary 😁

@@AlienWorks I’m an old drag racer. When I was around 22-23, I began working at a local high performance machine shop, just outside of Nashville TN. My dad owned a mechanic shop and wrecker service, so with that background and a certificate from a machine-shop school (Nashville Area Vocational/Technical school on White Bridge Road), I landed a DREAM job, building racing motors from NHRA PRO STOCK to high-end tractor pull motors. The machine shop was “Brandon and Turnage Race Cars”. After a few years I followed our best machinist to “Custom Engine Specialties” in Hendersonville on Rockland Road. After a few years with THEM, attending hundreds of Winston Cup points meets, I was hired by one Bob Glidden, and moved to Indianapolis Eventually gave up racing, moved to Florida and found a job baking in a high-end restaurant conglomerate. (If you can follow a blueprint you can follow a recipe). SAME “TOUCH” required in both, same “Thinking outside the box”approach needed, as well as the performance-based rewards... I’m 67, now. And SCOOTERS is the NEW NORMAL for me.

Do you know how to Aline wheel to handle bar ? Mine is off centre ! The bars are like I’m turning left when the wheel is straight???
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
I believe you can loosen the handlebars and re-align them? We haven't done that repair yet, hopefully in the future we can.
@CAZruns4 жыл бұрын
@@AlienWorks thanks for the reply, i tried that but it’s the the stem that is not straight inline with the wheel and forks. seems they tightened it misaligned ? It’s Not much off centre but definitely noticeable

Does this allow you to take 1 hand off the handlebars for a second or two? Would this fit on the Mantis 8 mini?
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
Yup, a steering damper will make the scooter much more stable, and able to ride it with a single hand. I haven't seen the 8 mini yet, so I'm not sure if it will fit on that or not.

Do u need to remove screws on both sides of motor in order to remove rear motor from rim on mantis 10? Because i removed 6 screws on right side but it won't losen. Also does my scooter have split rim? Im guessing is has one large rim like wolf. Im confused
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
It should have a split rim, I believe the bolts will be between the motor and the outer rim. Once the bolts are split the rim should just come apart... I'm wondering if they made any solid rim mantis, I didn't think they did. Where are you located? Maybe there's a scooter repair shop there that could help you out?
@microsoft16654 жыл бұрын
@@AlienWorks i got it to a bicycle repairman. he finally got to split the rim. it was really really stuck. that was the issue. we split it by hammering a bit in between with a flat screwdriver.

What's the best way to clean/lube the damper? Put one on recently, works well but has started creaking. I wiped the rod off with a paper towel, seemed to help but assume some type of lube should also go on? Thanks!

whats the purpose of a steering damper?
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
It helps the scooter be more stable. Absorbs unwanted steering adjustments when hitting a bump or something. I highly recommend doing that mod if possible.
@microsoft16654 жыл бұрын
@@AlienWorks nice. yeah ive realized some dangerous unwanted steering by bumps driving one-handed or loosely holding steering. how much harder does steering get with that damper?
@AlienWorks4 жыл бұрын
@@microsoft1665 it makes it a little bit tougher, but it’s doable and you get used to it. It will allow you to drive one-handed much easier.
