Kaabo Wolf King Wiring Makeover

This video goes over how to reduce the wires underneath the deck to avoid wires from shorting out. All connectors were soldered on, and I used shrink wrap to insulate the wires. I was inspired to minimize the excessive wiring, when my controller and BMS shorted out, due to the poor insulation, and unnecessary wiring, Kaabo left inside underneath the deck. I hope this video helps others to avoid the situation I ran into.

Nice job. It's a shame that the factory never used quality connectors. The terminal block is a good idea, easy to find and trace. Be nice if you could number or letter the terminal block so you know what is what but you yourself know that already

The thick ( Green, Blue, and Yellow) wires going to the motors are called the phase wires. These should be connected with MT60 connectors and the Battery Should he connected with XT90 connectors, instead of a terminal block. The smaller wires from each motor cable taped off are the Hall sensor wires: +5volt : Red Ground: Black Hall 1, 2, 3 Output : Grn Blu Yel Motor Temp: white These are disconnected because the mini Motors controllers use Field Oriented Control or FOC. However If you ever Upgrade to a VESC you can use those hall sensor wires from each motor for super smooth low speeds and take offs. :3

It's like a 6 year old wired my Wolf King. For the price I expected better. They also do not use the high enough gauge wire for the power delivery to the motors. I bet these wires get so hot because of it.

I agree.. that's what happens when you're dealing with the company who's all about profit! And replacing those wires in the motor would be a difficult task.. hopefully my video helped out in fixing the problem..

This was helpful but do you have more in-depth video you can share. I bought a Wolf King used. They "worked?" on the wiring and now the rats nest looks more like a rat king. I want to rewire it but I can't find a schematics for it any ware. I have a background in electronics from the Navy but that doesn't help with wire coloring and path to...

My rear motor wires have managed to get that hot they have melted the plastic sleeves and even melted to the sleeve of the brake wire. Have you had any issues like this???

Yes, the main reason why I decided to make this video was because the wires you've mentioned got hot, and shorted out causing damage to both the Bms and main controller. The damage was done after that event. So after I repaired both I made this video.

@@FlyHighforfun is it possible to replace these wires with thicker/higher voltage rated cables from the controller all the way to the rear motor? Is there soldering required? What gauge would you recommend as a replacement. (Thank you for the info) I have managed to catch the issue before any issues/ catastrophic failure of hardware damage

@@ATestamentToTech yes it’s possible to replace those wires with thicker gauge wires I’ll be doing that this week I’ll be using either 8awg or 10awg there will be soldering involved but totally worth it
