R.I.P.: Ernest Borgnine 😥 How appropriate that someone like Ernest Borgnine would play the part of an NFL Head Coach as legendary as he was as An Actor. Call him anything you want, but to me he will always be Quinton McHale.

In my humble opinion, the Packers were the greatest dynasty, because of one thing, and that was great love for one another.

I used to love those cheesy 70's made for T.V. movies on football. The Brian Piccilo/Gayle Sayers pic was one of the best with Billy Dee Williams and James Caan. This is a great one, too esp. with the great Ernest Borgnine.

Thanks so much for finding and posting! Much better quality than what I had posted years ago. Have always so loved this since first seeing live in '73, and felt it was so well done. Borgnine the best Lombardi I've ever seen. Thank again, Obsolete Video, for this!

Dan Lauria did a great version in the Broadway play Lombardi and in some NFL commercials for the 2010 playoffs and Super Bowl (which the Packers won). His Lombardi was used to film a hologram used in presentations at the NFL Hall of Fame.

At the time this movie came out I had wanted to see it but missed it. I don't know why I missed it. Back then, if you miss a show, chances would be slim to get anther chance to see it. And now, after almost 50 years later, I finally got to see it! Great movie, however, I though that there would have been more to it. Like from when he accepted the position at Green Bay until his death in 1970. It would have been great to see that.

They edited out scenes. Where a guy insulted Lombardi, in response, he punch out the guy. The first half is missing, this was better than nothing. I saw this movie when it was new. Originally this was a 90 minute movie, not one hour.

I saw this movie when it came out. Scenes were edited out. In one scene Lombardi was insulted, so, his response was to punch the guy out. 101 minutes with commercials ? No, the first half was not shown, but the second half was the most important to his story, so this was better than nothing. I'm pretty sure the original film was 90 minutes. This movie still was worth watching, even though it was edited. P.S. Perfect casting with Borgnine.

This was quite a good movie and I think Ernest Borgnine was an excellent cast for Lombardi. But what I never understood was why it was only 60 minuses long? Made-for-TV movies were usually 90 minutes at least.

Lambeau Field was originally City Stadium. It wasn't renamed Lambeau Field until 1965. Lombardi traded for Lamar McHan when he took over the Packers; he wasn't impressed with Bart Starr at first.

I even found two publicity photos of Ernest Borgnine from the movie with my father just next to him. Paul Horning being the show consultant could have played up his is beef with coach for not letting any drop kick an extra point which Jim McMahon and Flutie later picked up on. Yeah it was different times back then especially if you were not married and levels of support Vince would stick up and ultimately part of his stepping back was taking one for teams re McGee Horning (and others for gamblin)❤❤❤😊

I think that is "Balbrecher" playin' the wife. Sponsored by the most ambiguous slogan from a controversial chem company. Good Times. Did not know this show existed after reading the Maraniss book. For those trying to fact check, deliberate "irregularities" were required. Charlie Jones in this gonna rewatch. I suppose that is one way for a wifey to voice her displeasure for being uprooted from NY with (allegedly) "9 to 5 ing" the one you love grr. DuPont once again made the news as they were showing the broken Teflon at the Trop Wow! Oh and the super weird story of the Packer telling the story about her 8 yrs old girl being picked on, initial story would relate to the player's gayness but was mixed by censors. Read up about it you want in the Maraniss book😍
