From what I've read a sociopath is impulsive, and doesn't plan ahead, while a psychopath is more meticulous and calculating. If you insult a sociopath in a pub he is likely to attack you immediately in front of your friends, but if you insult a psychopath they will bide their time, find out where you live, then follow you home.

nope... the sociopath would only attack you for some kind of personal gain... the real overlap is pretty much just a more or less complete lack of empathy.. the sociopath knows no moral boundaries when it comes to personal gain, the psychopath knows no moral boundaries when it comes to self gratification.. that's why sadism is so prevalent in most psychopaths

As I understand it, 'sociopath' and 'psychopath' are no longer used as diagnostic terms, and while there is some overlap between the two as to what they define, one key difference is that a psychopath can experience a break with reality, while a sociopath stays grounded.

Sociopath largely has no conscience. Bundy was terrifying b/c he was very smart (not as smart as he thought) so he knew how to manipulate people and situations. What is creeping you out about Elizabeth Holmes is her blink ratio. She has a very slow blink ratio that seems to make people uncomfortable without knowing why.

Sociopaths will appear normal but they’re not. You can hold conversations with them and they will sound ok - you can be fooled easily by them. A TV movie about Diane Downs that had Farrah Fawcett playing her….it was so good. Classic manipulator. Great book by Anne Rule who actually knew Ted Bundy and worked briefly with him (and was fooled by him) called The Stranger Beside Me is a great read.

No, you're not. You can be, but you can always be born that way. Bundy had a surprisingly normal childhood. Little delusional from what I've heard. He was a bit of a narcissist, too. Representing himself in court, smiling and waving,blaming his condition on others things and people.

It never ceases to amaze me how sociopaths/ psychopaths always blame others for their behavior or evil deeds. I don't believe anything that comes out of any of their mouths. There is a small difference between sociopathy and psychopathy.

I lived through the Ted Bundy era in Washington State. I can tell everyone if you were a young female college student at the time or any young female, he was not a sociopath. We were at Lake Sammamish the very day he took those first two women. We learned that his name was Ted. We were all very afraid for a long time to go out with friends and everything changed. We were afraid. He was a cold blooded psychotic torturous killer who snuck through girls kitchen windows and did things that probably only people in Seattle Washington know about. He terrorized our City and he was a sadistic serial killer. He was a monster! Then we saw him on trial on our local news wearing a Seattle Mariners shirt. We felt safer that they caught him, but then he escaped, not once, but twice. Yeah we were all happy when he was put to death. It’s not a good feeling, but he took our freedom to feel safe going anywhere for quite a while.

I've read in some sources that there is a chemical imbalance in the brains of socio/psychopaths. That's certainly one plausible explanation. Another is that the neural pathways in their brains don't function normally, which is also plausible, but I don't believe that anyone has ever come up with a definitive explanation.

Psychopaths tend to be able to hold jobs whereas Sociopaths really struggle. Psychopaths live a more calculating, cunning, and deceptive life whereas a Sociopath tends to be much more impulsive and violent than a Psychopath. Though if both of them were to be “set off” it would be same extremely violent reaction.

There are a number of interviews of Charles Manson available. He was sometimes chilling, sometimes ridiculous. Another example that might be interesting for you is the case of Jim Jones, if you haven't heard of it.

To keep things simple, psychopaths are born that way, while sociopaths are made (nature vs nurture). You will *not* get a unanimous consensus on exactly what those two terms are; some psych experts will say neither exists, while others will say psychopathy is someone with antisocial personality disorder while sociopathy is off on its own, or vice versa. Personality Disorders are notoriously unreliable- one clinician may diagnose a person with schizoid personality disorder while another will diagnose the same person with schizotypal. Officially, the DSM-V still contains “Antisocial Personality Disorder”- a person must exhibit at least three of the seven criteria, be at least 18 years old with evidence of a conduct disorder prior to age 15, & these behaviors cannot be explained by a more “clinical” or “organic” disorder, such as schizophrenia.

@Mr.Fahrenheit. MAY and TYPICALLY are the key words you are overlooking. The conscience or empathy isn't what separates them. A sociopath will have problems maintaining a career or home life. A psychopath can easily have a family to hide themselves from society.

I don't know where this came from, but , someone said, that the same percentage of animals in nature who fall to predators applies to humans also. The same percentage of people disappear and are never found. Cases keep popping up of women kidnapped and chained in basements, or in Long Island, New York, where bodies keep being found, because no one lives there next to the ocean, so bodies are buried there for decades, and in Canada, apparently, those huge farms and ranches make the perfect place to kill someone and bury them on a thousand acres.this seems to indicate there are a lot more predators out there we don't know about.

First, let me just say, I love your reaction videos watch them all the time. Charles Manson was definitely an interesting case. He tried to become a musician at one point, and you can actually find on Apple Music or Amazon Music an actual album of his songs very odd songs lol if you actually listen to his story, his mother was a prostitute, and he was brought up really rough. I’m not trying to make excuses for the man he was definitely sick in the head and got what he deserved dying in prison. He once told Geraldo Rivera that he could have someone chop off his head and deliver it to Manson in a box. If that tells you how messed up he was.

If you are a sociopath, wouldn't you take anyone, anytime? The fact that they hide out, erase evidence, choose only little women says they do know what's right and wrong, and what's easy. I bet Bundy never even looked at a guy rhe wrong way, in prison. In my 44 years I have met 1 absolute loony, his parents had him living in a caravan, in the garden. Little 15 yr old kid jumping big guys, just because he thought they said something. The others seem to know when to be quiet. I mean, how many sociopaths have kidnapped big dudes, by themselves ? So they understand consequences. If you really don't care, or feel emotions, you'd grab anyone from any busy place, even infront of police. Like the 15yr old kid.

Living so close to Oklahoma as I do, Kabir, you should know that Carol Baskin very likely did kill her husband. That whole place where Joe lives has always been weird. Even though it's not legal, Joe has the distinction of being in a three-way same sex marriage that was filmed. I think a clip of it is in the Netflix documentary.
