"Quiz Show" was actually a very good movie and was directed by Robert Redford. It shows a lot more then just the scandal of the game show "21" but also the back story of the 2 main characters and John Turturro and Ralph Fiernnes and how it affected them and their families. They did an amazing jobs portraying them. You should really check it out and I'm sure you will be very pleasantly surprised at how great this movie is.😊

The world loved him and he is still missed. One thing that was kinda messed up when his then 17-year old daughter Bindi appeared on dancing with the stars her mother had to sign off on it so she would be paid (as she was a minor) A judge denied it at first saying her father has to sign it too. That judge may have been the only man in America who didn't know Steve Irwin had died.

Canadian here, and a life-long subject, and fan, of her majesty the Queen. It was such a shock when she past away. Even knowing that she was 98 years old, and understanding that she was nearing the end of her nature lifespan didn't lessen the shock. When I was a kid, I remember thinking about how beautiful she was, and so elegant. My mum around 16 when Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the throne, and Elizabeth was just 26. My mum couldn't believe that the Queen was only 10 years older than she was. I experienced a somewhat similar feeling when watching Diana become engaged and then married to, the man who would eventually become the King of England and other places. She was just 2 months older than me, and she was destined to become the Queen! It was hard for me to wrap my head around it, I was 19 and working as a chambermaid and I was living in a basement with spiders the size of the palms of my hand. Only 2 months, but a million kilometers apart.

Forgive me but this Yank finds this as offensive as people saying "Not my president." because whether you you had a choice or not they are your national figurehead and should be given the complete and total respect thereof. We don't have to like or agree with policies or actions they have moved forward but when the shit hits the fan it's them you look to to tell congress or the Primeminister to move to declare war to defend our/your territory country, people not some wish of who you would've liked be. Take this from a 64 year old man who has seen president's with some of the worst policies in world history but as much as it pains me to say, they were all my presidents.

19:30 The Glee curse kinda reminds me of the night court curse: the original cast included actress Selma Diamond an older actress, she died during the 2nd season from lung cancer She was replaced on the show by Florence Halop who ended up playing a similar character, she would pass away suddenly also from lung cancer. So when they replaced the character again, they decided to change course and brought in Marsha Warfield who was much younger and played a completely different character. That broke the curse.

I used to love Cover-Up. It was on in the summer that year, when it wouldn't get dark until about 11pm, on the BBC. First episode, our 8-year old selves stopped playing and ran to our respective houses to watch it. We came out 45 minutes later and all played at being Mac Harper. Next week, we all ran in to see Ep. 2. As the end credits are rolling, the announcer says that this was shown in tribute to Jon-Erik Hexum, who died that week. We all went back into the street and just sat in stunned silence. At 8 years old. Once the last Hexum episode was aired, they subbed him with an actor called Antony Hamilton playing a different character, though the scripts were written for Hexum/Mac. The official storyline was that Mac had gone off to a mission. At the end, Hamilton's character meets up with Jennifer O'Neill's character to break the news that Mac died on the mission. Her reaction is completely real (it's here on YT) and I broke down watching it. Then, a sweet text appears onscreen in tribute to him, hampered only by the fact that they spell his name wrong. You had one job...

What I'm about to talk about is an Aussie thing about this subject. Like so many Aussies, have fond childhood memories of a show called "Skippy The Bush Kangaroo" even though it's painfully faked. You don't really notice the fake kangroo arms as a child, but it became a running joke on our comedy shows. What none of us were aware of was what it was like behind the scenes. Until there was a highly memorable expose on national television. From borderline animal abuse to how little the British production company paid their actors. They didn't bother training their kangaroos at all. They'd simply catch a wild kangaroo and try making it do what they wanted it to. Many of those kangaroos escaped. The wages they paid their actors were ridiculously low, and the production company are making a fortune from syndication to this day. But they refuse to share it with the cast members. While they still occasionally do early morning reruns on Aussie tv. Many of us are boycotting the show, including refusing to put more money in their pockets by buying their dvds, etc.

Bob Crane's murder was so brutal that the friend/coworker who found him thought a red-haired woman was asleep in his bed. It took her a moment to realize that what she was seeing was a copious amount of blood coming from Bob Crane's head. It was so bad that no one saw the electrical cord wrapped around his neck until quite a while later. There was so much hate in his murder.

Probably among the worst things on TV that I know about was a televised new conference in the Pennsylvania State Capitol building, where a state representative (Budd Dwyer) who was convicted of a number of crimes in office pulled out a pistol and put it in his mouth and shot himself in front of colleagues and reporters and cameras the day before his sentencing.

She was extremely good. Now Charice is called Jake Cyrus since her sex change. She still sings but with a .uch deeper voice. She still does concerts with her present self and videos of her old self. Basically a self duet.

What is the common denominator? Fame and fortune can catapult a persons ego to ridiculous heights. So dramatic that these people believe they are untouchable and can get away with just about anything. It's much the same reason why so many Hollywood stars have more relationship break ups than most other people. Two people who are so famous get to believe they are in control of everybody and everything. When both of them think that the relationship is in danger. I'm Australian and it was said that if the incident with Steve Irwin had of happened inside an intensive care unit, they still would not of been able to save him. Such a great guy with a wonderful sense of humour. Wife Terri Irwin told a story some years later about something he said. He was renowned for grabbing an animal, such as a snake and telling people, "would you get a load of the size of this thing." Terri said Steve would often say that in the bedroom. 🙀 Australians lost someone really special when Steve died. 🇦🇺 🦘

The 1958 quiz show scandals are surprisingly interesting. Aside from a few very obvious events like 9/11 or the Challenger, one of the darkest real moments broadcast on TV was just under a year after the Challenger when the Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania committed suicide during a press conference which was broadcast on TV. Thankfully, at the time (when I was 10), I only saw video of him taking the gun out of a manila envelope.

Just like Tommy Cooper, there was a similar event, also in the UK, long before you were born. In 1969, Kenneth Horne, a comedy writer and the star of several very successful BBC Radio comedy programs, died on stage stage while he was hosting an annual TV Producers and Directors Awards event at the Dorchester Hotel. When the event was broadcast on TV, his death was edited out; and the announcer simply stated that "Mr Horne was taken ill at this point and later died."

😢 Like the sad tale of Bob Crane (of Hogan's Heroes), the actor Pete Duel took his own life (with a gun). He was in "Alias Smith & Jones" ...about s couple of cowboy types in the old west, trying to stay out of trouble for a year to be then rewarded by being given amnesty for previous bank robberies, as they "had never shot / killed anyone". The series was a much-loved success but Pete Duel doubted his acting ability to the point of depression. A very sad loss and a shock to learn of his suicide. The show continued with another actor - and was 'okay' but I missed Pete. His younger (?) brother, who looked quite like him, also acts (but he was not the man who replaced Pete in 'Alias Smith & Jones').😢 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤️🖖

14:27 Twenty-One was already fixed by that point, Herb was recruited in the hopes of boosting ratings but it never happened. Van Doren came along and producers thought he'd be more marketable. They promised him guest spots on future shows (which he'd be paid for) but it never happened. They also made him sign an agreement to take less money than he actually won on the show. He did go public, but no one believed him and producers covered everything up claiming Stempel went crazy because he couldn't cope with the loss and being out of the spotlight. It wasn't until a contestant from another show came forward that the claims were looked at more seriously. Van Doren was subpoenaed and confessed to "taking part in a great deception". Another twenty-one contestant was found to have been mailing himself answers to the questions and kept everything documented. That ended up being "the smoking gun".

The Special Forces weren't on Ft Benning theyre on Ft Bragg. There were lots of suspicions about George Reeves' death. Some say it was due to a back injury that medication wasn't working for any more, depression caused by failure and some say George knew too much about too many starlets and stars that he was threatening the studio heads with if they didnt start giving him contracts, back then studio heads were like mob bosses and you didnt do that to them without paying a heavy price but that was just supposition nudge nudge wink wink. I liked the make over show. The quiz show scandals were made big by the movie Quiz Show directed by Robert Redford. It really was a sad story. I loved The A Team this was disturbing. There was a character named Louie Lebeau played by Robert Clary, Robert Clary was a concentration camp survivor and he did because he came from a french family of entertainers. What saved him was his ability to sing & dance so he was sent from concentration camp to camp entertaining the guards. I was shocked to hear about Bill Cosby but i said if he's convicted I hope they bury him under the prison with the amount of years.

I dunno Kabir, the law and trial was pretty ground breaking for the time for the game shows. We are talking the TV was still younger than the internet is to us when that happened an it became obvious that the laws had to catch up with technology which is in interesting idea, because when the internet came the same thing happened. But 1994 was a while ago too so there was still some new ideas then, I wouldn't argue the point as much if you are talking about the last 20 years or so. At least no studios wasted their time making a silly movie about the Tony Cooper thing. Like you said about the "Quiz Show". There were only millions and millions of people watching that quiz show in the 1950s, which was rigged, so I can see your point. Everybody cared about the quiz show incident in the US. That's why Congress got involved to outlaw such activity. You have no idea how big an event the quiz show scandal was in America. You have criticized the making of a movie about it twice in the last 2 weeks. Maybe Tony Cooper was important to you, so I don't think it would be right to make fun of you for caring about someone or something that I don't know or give 2 effs about.
