Can verify that this bar is a very nice option for those who wish to maximize their deadlift game... I have been pulling on one for a couple of months now at the Kabuki Lab, and find that I consistently pull my best lifts using this bar. The flex is smooth and manageable, without introducing too much whip. Also, as Brandon said, the knurl is aggressive, but does not bite in an unpleasant way... I feel like it locks my hands firmly in place, but have never walked away from it feeling like my grip has been punished.

Kabuki isn't the best with timelines regarding their equipment deliveries I guess you have to double what they estimate. I recently ordered some kratos add on flywheel plates from them and it took 3 months... The website said nothing about a pre order so when ordered I believed they were in stock but was I wrong... Followed up twice and even debated filing a CC claim because they exceeded both timelines they gave me by a large margin...

TBH if this wasn't a new release pre order I would always aim to get stuff off their blemish site. Slight discount and if it's in there you know it's in stock and usually ships same day.

I compete in a fed that uses deadlift bars. But I can't help but feel that the extra softness and length making the bar "easier" is almost "cheating". From a record setting/competition standpoint, and probably influenced by my own ego, it doesn't feel right lifting on an easier bar. What's stopping Texas or Rogue from making new DL bars and basically dropping the stiffness to the point that you once you load 500+, you're doing a block pull because of how much flex there is. I mean sure it's up to the consumer to decide what they want, but this just creates inconsistencies at the competition level.

@BasementBrandon

I agree there needs to be some specs bars need to conform to, but the same argument can be said about the deadlift bars now. Gives you and advantage over a stiff bar, texas DL gives you and advantage over a rogue Dl, etc.

@@pedalandypedal depends on how they plate it. I have the Kabuki power bar in nickel and it's held up well in the 6 or so years I've owned it. Their recent nickel bars haven't looked very good to me though lately. If you live in a low humidity area or have that under control in your gym the bar steel won't be as bad to upkeep, but still will require more cleaning.

They do have the mammoth dl bar which is like 20" longer than this one. I'm assuming there will have to be some specs put in place to limit length and distance between sleeves in competition.

I grabbed Rogue deadlift bar out of the Boneyard. It's nice but I still find myself pulling on my 20kg Ohio Power Bar more. It doesn't really get flexible till the 200kg mark. After that it's nutty how it moves compared to a 29mm power bar.

Your excellent work is feeding my barbell addiction. However, the more I watch deadlift bar reviews from you and other youtubers, the more confusing a DL bar becomes for me. Manufacturers are pushing them wider and wider, with no end point in sight; where's the limit on how much a bar will deflect before it comes off the floor? How much bend do we want before we say that's enough? We really could engineer a bar that deflects 6" before the plates come off the floor. I completely see the point of the bigger and wider squat specific bars... the weight still goes down and the weight still comes up and requires the same input, but with just less pain. However, these longer and more deformable deadlift bars are creating a different deadlift result/performance requirement between 500 lbs on one bar to 500 lbs on another bar. If Brandon can do 500 on a bar that's 64" between collars but Coop can do it on 62" bar (that deflects less), is Coop stronger than Brandon???? Maybe there is a DL powerlifting standard that I'm just not aware of for apples to apples comparison on the lift (does certain powerlifting orgs mandate a specific deadlift bar?). Of course, there is sheer pleasure in using one of these I get... maybe when I mature I'll understand better... maybe I should just buy one and enjoy it...
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
That's a bad analogy b/c Ill always be stronger than Coop :) But yes I agree, there needs to be some kind of spec defined that it cannot exceed. Interestingly enough, this isn't even the longest DL bar on the market.

@@BasementBrandon I’m thinking maybe the best way to keep it from going crazy is having to keep the bar weight at 20kg. It somewhat restricts what can be done although kabuki found the loophole by making the collars less thick compared to other bars. I think it’ll be tough to try to lengthen the bar further without adding to the bars weight.
