They don’t run their website very well or respond to customers in a timely fashion, but they will eventually get you your bar! If you look at the BBB for Texas power Bar you will see they eventually get everyone their bar or at least will give you a refund if it’s taking too long! Great video as usual. I have had the bare steel ODB, the zinc ODB and now the cerakote TDB. I like the TDB the best at this time but am a sucker for SS for it's feeling and lack of coating so I'm waiting for someone to drop one! Given the variety I think Rogue is the most likely candidate but...not yet. I'd really like a SS TDB but that seems unlikely. which makes me sad. :(

I’m on/off on whether or not to get this bar and today I was probably the most on I’ve ever been. I even rewatched your first video on the Texas Deadlift Bar and you just dropped this. Must be a sign. But if I don’t compete and just lift to stay in shape, is it worth it? Are there benefits in that regard? It looks super fun to lift with but not sure if I’d price that fun at $500 if it that’s the only non-competitive benefit.

If you're comparing a deadlift bar with a IPF-style stiff bar, then I'd say at around 400lbs and up you'll definitely feel the difference - both from the ROM reduction starting to kick in, as well as the proprioceptive feedback mechanism of having a much more pronounced/noticeable slack pull. However, if you're used to deadlifting in a commercial gym, switching to the deadlift bar might not feel like as much of a difference because commercial gym bars are usually more bendy than the stiff bars they use for powerlifting (due to them being lower quality). So it's sort of like a pseudo halfway point between a stiff bar and deadlift bar.
@DaveSchneider7
@DaveSchneider7 2 жыл бұрын
Depends a lot on what kind of plates you use. Bumper plates are wider, so push more weight out to the ends and make it more bendy. I can feel a noticeable difference with bumpers starting somewhere around 140kg (308lbs)

It's going to depend on the cut of the knurl. But if comparing let's say a raw TDL to a cerakote one, the bare still will offer a lot better feel. Grip strength is relative to the lifter, but you would likely want chalk on a cerakote bar before a bare one given knurl is equal.

Brandon, Can you address the lower F Rating of stainless steel bars vs bars with other finishes. Bare steel OHB has an F Rating of F-8R while stainless steel has an F Rating of F2. I understand the appeal of SS for easier maintenance, but it seems the composition of the SS makes the bar less durable.

I think in general it makes the metal softer, which is one of the reasons I think some people have stayed away from using it for a deadlift bar. But that's just an uneducated guess. I don't think the difference is enough to worry about with the weights a human could lift however.

I’m an engineer not a deadlifter, but 1. Suspending the weighted bars (with maybe 400-500 pounds) from straps or webbing located at normal grip positions and measuring the amount of deflection would be a much better test. Just because the bars are all 27 mm doesn’t mean that their other metallurgical properties are the same. 2. Any reason the Crain Okie bar wasn’t included in the review?

At 27mm, with a slightly less aggressive knurl than the deadlift bar, I can do more multiple reps for all lifts and I have better control of The bar. Superb friendly customer service. Newbie Question: why do people like whip when deadlifting?
@derekw9405
@derekw9405 2 жыл бұрын
Its a way of cheating just a little bit because you dont have to pull the weight as far. For instance if the bar bends by an inch before the weights break off the ground then that first inch of pull is much easier than if you were pulling with a standard stiff bar. However it doesnt really matter until you are pulling weights heavy enough to actually get the bend you are looking for. If your only pulling 300 pounds or so you wont notice much.
