Sir- international waters and so many fishermen’s life compromised by this handover which happened behind the doors. This decision clearly shows the vision of our leaders. Getting back something which was given like this is never going to be easy and may take many years. At the least as a damage control fishing by our Indian fishermen should be allowed and more so no more arrests of them should be negotiated by whom so ever is in power.

I find ii hard to fanthom when the video starting from 1195 year about Sri Lanka ownership. If we go early India should claim northern part of Sri Lanka as they were under Tamil kings rule for ages. But we can't go by this logic. The picture starts with leasing of this island to British by king of Ramnad. A strong evidence. The bug stops here in my view and it is clearly belongs to India.

Little correction sir. It appears that our minister Jayashankar is talking about a minutes of meeting held in st George fort chenna, in October 1973, Mr Karunanidhi concurred to proposal to tranfer kaccha theevu to Ceylon. It is clamed that Karunanidhi conceded this as one of the favours to Delhi to sink the findings of sarkaria commission against him. It appears all the ostensibly token agitation were done as a part of stage management drama by Karunanidhi to deceive public. As kid, I could recall wherever I went house of relatives and friends, this was the talk of the town. Elders used to scold Karunanidhi for his acting and call him a thief. Looking back now this looks like a beginning of the fall of Karunanidhi. I also recall that 1975/76 when Karunanidhi and his men were put into jail under MISA. Stalin also went to jail I think. I could sense people were happy to see him in jail. Around the same time (1976/77) MGR emerged as a power house breaking away from DMK and went on to become CM . It is not that just charisma of MGR but people hatred against Karunanidhi kept him away from police till th death of MGR. Remember Karunanidhi is a very outstanding dramatist, story writer and excellent script writer in addition to exemplary oratory skills and believed that these skills can manage anything and get away. But skills can only take you some where and you need a value to stay there longer which MGR have had in tons.

It is a small piece of land. I don't mind to conceding it. According to annamalai this has to do with international line around the area and a wealth resources of fish in those areas. Tamil fishermen used to fishing in those area traditionally for ages. After this ceding our fishermen were going to srilankan jail regularly affecting their livelihood as this ceding lead to breaching the international line. Please eloborate this side of the story on factual accuracy.

It is quite an explanation but from such a Senior Official I expected more. Your talk should have covered these points also. 1. Every party will explore the possibility of raking up an issue if some evidences are available to them and if used effectively will get them few more votes. The point is whether DMK is aware about this or not before it happened? In this instant case, BJP had exposed some documents which clearly establish that DMK is aware about “கச்சத்தீவு” even before the decision was taken. 2. All including you, haven’t explained why this Article 6 was deleted and is it because of this deletion our fisherman are being harassed by Sri Lankan Navy? 3. Some more information on the positive and negative sides of the issue would have helped.

Sir Fishermen issue is entirely different..There is a type of fishing called trawling which is widely banned across the world. This method of fishing is destructive way of fishing as it is excessively sweeping Juveniles along with adults including spawning adults..So fishery resource management advicers of many countries and even FAO either have banned this fishing or allowing in controlled manner for ensuring sustainable resource managment. Sri Lanka is also one of the country that has completely imposed ban on trawl fishing and is allowing non destructive fishing like gillnet and Hooks and line fishing which are less detritus to juvenile as mesh size is big enough to let juveniles escape through.But in India trawling is not banned. Our fishermen were indiscriminately employing this method which resulted resource depletion in and around pak strait area. They fished even to the extend of ploughing bottom area and thereby impacted protected coral eco system which houses small prey fishes for feeding bigger fishes..After this depletion they started moving their fleets to this resource rich Island for exploiting lopster and Prawns. Till then SL govt allowed Indian fishermen who were practicing artesenal fishing method like hooks and line and gillnetting as these methods are environment friendly sustainable methods and widely practiced by SL fishermen..Once our TN trawl fleets entered this territory and started exploiting their resource indiscriminately, fishermen in SL raised this issue in their country. Consequently SL govt reacted with forces against these exploiters for protecting their resources..Still SL govt's stant is they are ready to allow TN artesenal fleets but not trawl fleets. But TN fishermen demands trawls operation in that area which is categarically denied by SL govt in the interest of protecting their resources for their own country fishermen..We had many dialogues earlier..So fault is our side..our political parties with no knowledge are politicising this issue for vote...we too have regulations and acts like mesh regulation and area of operation for trawl fishing but none of them are follwed by trawl fishermen. Here also dispute exists between trawl fishermen and small boats with outboard engine ..But this industry is highly politicised. if govt officials intervene to resolve this issue by existing fishing acts trawl fishermen take aid of political intervention to control upon officials..They never bother about preserving wealth for future..This tendency is running high on TN fishermen's mind when compare to other states of India..

Sir, i feel there is no necessity to bring this issue right now..its just political gimmicks...moreover it may affect the friendly relation with srilanka also...because, the ruling government at that time might have done things which would have been right at that point of time..its unfair to go and fight right now....my stand is just come up with mutual diplomatic co-ordination between two nations to allow fishermen from tamilnadu to use that area for fishing without any problems.....and solve this issue amicably...but this could have been done in past 10 years... but in present, Right now there is so much unwanted hatred within India on basis of politics ,religion and also violences across nation, manipur issue, ladakh issue, Electoral bonds etc....govt should focus more on bringing unity and equality in India than all these useless warfare... One thing is we ppl should be united to save our democracy, equality and secularism at all cost irrespective of any political party that comes to power...we should always voice out our truth firmly at all costs...

Sir I don't want to blame our former prime minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi ji, because of some external relations with Sri Lanka she gave it with some returns but you said a wrong information regarding (Karunanithi) that he was protesting against it for giving, he just wanted to escape from CBI and ED at that time he had many scam allegations against him and Indira ji has rights to implement the presidents rule only for that reasons he kept quiet. I strongly support and agree that Indira Gandhi ji have given that land for external relations which we even got another land with wealth as you said, but kindly don't say that Karunanithi opposed that and protested against it he was afraid that if he oppose that Indira Ji will implement presidents rule by dissolving the regime. When you are knowing about Malla's inscription, why have you not known about Thamizh history?
