I buy stuff from charity shops and antique shops I never pay much for anything. I just go for well built, and interesting shapes. I am so underwhelmed with new stuff these days, cheaply built, and and no style. I to love french furniture . This chest of draws is fab, and the colour really makes it. Lovely color, I’ve been restoring furniture for about 25 years now and even though I know most of the stuff you’re doing I always find your videos so entertaining and watch all of them. When it comes to hardware, if I’m going for gold I always prefer to clean it, I rub them with lemon, let them sit for about 1/2 hr. Then scrub them with a toothbrush and dish liquid or powder as you did. Thank you! Great work!

I bought a 4 drawer dresser and a matching lingerie dresser inexpensively. They were very worn French Provincial style. I washed them and then used Light Blue Chalk paint with every other drawer a distressed grey and aged the paint job. Then I found an apple blossom wall decor sticker with branches and white blooms. I divided it between the dressers and applied it to both. Can't post a pic here, but they came out nicely. I use them for sewing storage. Ou lala.

I know it seems that way but don't be nervous! I have made most of my colors just messing around with ideas. The more you mix the more you'll get used to it and learn along the way! I have never been "trained" in color theory so don't let anyone tell you it can't be done on your own!!! 🙂

I love the smooth finish you are getting in your work! The thing that is hold me back from trying Chalk Paint is I don't like the gloppy, goopy, distressed results I am seeing in many of the books and tutorials. That's not my style at all. I prefer the smooth, polished look you are achieving. ** Have you ever sanded the Chalk Paint to get an even smoother finish? ** Do you prefer brushing with thinned Chalk Paint or spraying? ** Have you used polyurethane over Chalk Paint to create an extra resilient finish? Your finished items look fantastic!

Kimberly Forbragd I have sanded to get a smooth finish. If you use a really fine grit like 2k + you get an ultra smooth modern finish. I’ve done it before but it’s a lot of work and I don’t really need it THAT smooth usually. I always thin down my paint, how much depends on what I’m going for. I don’t have a paint gun. And yes I’ve used poly. It’s good for high use surfaces but it will change you light colors over time, I prefer wax!
