Best thing to do in the beginning is make a home, plant a huge field of carrots or onion, go hunting, pick up tons of materials and gain skills xp for everything to pick up, cut down and hunt. Earn money from crafting axes, buy seeds. Kill animals for leather, make a sack. Don't race to get npcs, get yourself xp by doing stuff, quests, learn the map, get buildings that work for just you. You need a fk ton of food and stuff for npcs.

I hope you saw these replies, they need firewood for their houses. You need to craft firewood out of logs then you won't go through logs as fast.

Yes the MINIMUM for adding villagers and/or a wife is a storage building with lots of logs in it and a food storage building with food. Your crops will go crazy after the second planting. Forget manure. It only seems to work on certain crops right now, so I would skip it. You need to move your crops to new fields every year (crop rotation) and after 2-3 years you can use the old field again it seems. I harvested something like 140 cabbages and 80 onions this year and enough flax for 10 spools of thread. I have a forge and purchased the schematics for iron ax, but the build menu in the forge is empty, so either I am doing something wrong or it is broke. I found a cave east of the village at the southern border. I am hoping it has iron in there as all I ever get is rocks and limestone with my pickax. I now can build 12 buildings. I had a 10% chance of getting married and saved to try it until I got it, but nailed it first try. I have a child now too. She travels home to her parents to have the kid though and I am not sure when she is coming back. My taxes are something like 205. They will not warn you to go pay and the penalty must be pretty steep as it had to be less the year before as I had only 7 buildings and 1 large farm plot. Now I have 8 buildings and 4 farm plots. After skipping a year I had to pay over 500, so I'm guessing the interest is something crazy like 50%. Iron axes cut down the trees in only 3 hits and are slightly lighter and I think do more damage. The missions are pretty bad. I can only complete about half. I have been selling straw now as it is easy to stop and pick something like 400 and it is very light. I also sold a ton of seeds at 4 cold each. It takes forever to thrash a large harvest. It takes at least half a day. I went and made dinner and it was not done when I got back. You can demolish buildings but you get nothing back. The Smithy as the forge and the old workshop's workbench, so demolish the old one and build the new one. My tech is starting to get up there fast. Harvesting these large fields the second year has jumped me up a lot. I just need more villagers. Trees will grow back eventually. The scythe is only for harvesting the grains. Grains must be threshed after harvested and then they can be turned to flour or animal feed. You are taxed based on the size of the farm and it is only good for one year.

@@jessed2282 Your dynasty reputation, which you get by doing quests, determines how big you can build your village. I am almost done with the big game quest, so will be able to build 15 buildings as soon as I find a bear. Can't wait! That bear has to be somewhere!!!

the bags for tradfers show up in your compass when hitting L.Alt , in that first town there is a woman who sells food, buy flatbread its cheap and super filling, also in that first town there is a guy named ALVIN follow his questline and eventually he will send you to get a waterskin repaired, once you do, the sewing lady will suggest you flirt with her daughter, she's super easy to get romantic... just a few tips for ya. (also the stumps will reappear every season, not just reload )

I made over 700 gold in winter just harvesting sticks and selling them, so far as I can tell there isn't too much more to do in that season right now, im sure it gets more complicated as you build your village more and have people to attend to. I didnt need a scythe to harvest the onions I planted so thats probably for stuff like wheat? Just a guess though, havent tested that. Prices are different depending on your approval for each person. If they're approval of you is higher they will pay more for your stuff and sell you stuff cheaper. There is also a bartering skill that can help too 🙂

I kind of found out how to get A LOT of iron. Go to mine last day in the any seson. Make sure you have extra food, water bag and pickaxe. And mine all day long. If it gets heavy just go to entrance and drop everything and go back to mining. When seson is about to change, go to entrance and pick up everything. You'll be respawned at your house. So you dont have to cary everything back and forward. Tip. build storage building to store everything.

if you want money fast, get the perk that lets you see herbs and plants in the Alt view. Stock up on St John's Wort and Broad Leaf something something. They grow in large clusters, they're everywhere, they weigh next to nothing, and they sell for 2 gold a pop. You can easily gather and sell a couple hundred of each in a single day. Ripe berries are good too, since you get 3-5 berries per bush, but they're slightly heavier and only sell for 1 each, and obviously you can only get them in Summer.

I found it easy to make money is harvesting and selling straw from the reeds. It's lightweight so you can carry a ton of it, and it grows back. Sticks by comparison are heavier. Harvesting berries in the summer also is a good way to earn money, and if you store it in a container, I've yet to have them lose any percentage to their condition. I have poisoned on multiple times, which is odd since I don't go to bed in that condition, but when changing between seasons I get the message that I am poisoned and I awake in a village by the campfire lol. The starter bow sucks, I've shot deer multiple times and the spears are more effective; the arrows seem to go right through them.

Tip. Do not invite anyone to come live in your village until you have the food storage building from the farming tech tree no matter how much food you have in any other chest they will still leave because of no food.

With the right kind of building, you can craft a spoon from a stick. A stick sells for 1, a spoon sells for 2. You get crafting XP for making a spoon. I make hundreds of spoons. That beats making spears or axes to sell.

You need the hunting lodge to make bows and arrows. That is also the technology you will need to purchase and master. Same with farming, same with sewing clothes, it's all like that.

Resource Storage is so your villagers can collect firewood. This is necessary to keep them happy, same with the food shed. Like I said in a previous comment...if you ever played sim/city management type games, this game seems to follow the same concept as those type of games. Games like, "Banished" (which is an excellent game, BTW) . I would place your wood cutter's shed close to the resource building. Your workers who work in the wood shed should take wood they chop down from trees and store the wood in the resource shed and then your worker for the firewood shed takes it from the resource building and cuts the firewood, returns said firewood to the resource building. When you get to the Tavern and farms, you will also need the food storage shed. It acts as the same thing as the resource shed for firewood, but with food. The tavern is where your workers cook food. Your hunters and farmers will supply the raw ingredients, haul it all to the food storage shed, and then the tavern worker will retrieve raw ingredients and cook them into meals, store some in the tavern as well as in the food shed. So, there is a method to all the madness. Keeping these buildings somewhat close to each other within reason I am assuming will make workers happy. Same with their homes...keep them close to their place of work (or as close as possible) so their route to work is short and they are happy. Also with the food shed, tavern and farms, you will need the barn to process some of the ingredients and poo for fertilizer. So, the farming chain or food chain is a bit more involved than the firewood chain. I hope this helps!!!

Loving this series! Also, after placing down (I guess the blueprint/outline of the house you are crafting, you can use a wooden hammer to make different walls different things such as a window, another door, etc. You just have to use the edit prompt when you are holding your hammer. Pretty sure you have to do this BEFORE you build, possibly before placing materials on that wall, but not 100% sure. I just tried it for the small house. I am not sure if this is also for other buildings as well, but thought I would mention it.

If you want to change your house from wattle to wood or stone, equip your hammer and change to destroy mode. Destroy the wall that you want to change. Change your hammer to build mode and press E to edit what your wall should be. When you're happy with your choice, build your new wall.

Hey bro. Found your video through KZbin. I have a super easy way to get gold. All you have to do is find berry bushes. Each pick gives you 2-6 berries. Each berry sells for 1 gold. I got 2 grand the other day and used them on blueprints. I’d highly recommend finding them. There’s one up the hill you are on to the right. There’s another on the way from your base to the village.

the winter clothes were quest rewards. The hat by the cart is called a coif, and its on the ground behind it. Don't delete the hunting lodge it helps you craft things. If you store logs in the log bin thing you can see the logs, it adds immersion over the warehouse where you can't see anything. Sell a bunch of sticks and berries and you can easily pay your taxes in under a season. Glad to see you got everyone's notes! Keep up the amazing work.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned yet here in the comments, but the wood shed is supposed to be built in the woods, not in your town. It has a 50m radius from the shed itself where workers collect wood from. This is mentioned in your build menu when you highlight the wood shed. A lot of folks complain their workers never do anything, I think it's because they are not placing their buildings in the right places. I also went ahead and placed my hunter's lodge in an area where I know there is deer and boar not far from my village to see if that also works the same way as the wood shed. I am not sure if I need to build homes for these workers near their place of work to make things more efficient and them more happy, so a lot of testing needs to happen. I have played a city builder/sim/management game called, "Banished" and this is appearing to be eerily similar to that kind of concept, with the wood shed needing to be built in the woods. So, I am taking what I know from that game and trying to apply it to this one to see if the mechanics are the same. I hope this helps ya!

The "bag" you referred to that indicates a NPC vendor are the bags shown in the compass HUD at the top of the screen. The compass HUD will also indicate quest NPC locations and such. You also talk about spears being a good item to craft and sell, but crafting and then selling firewood would probably be better. 1 log makes either 1 spear or 4 firewood. 1 spear sells for only 7g, whereas 4 firewood would sell for 8 gold, so crafting an inventory of about 6 logs would end up being 42g worth of spears or 48g worth of firewood and you still get the crafting skill increases.

You will need the scythe for harvesting your grains. The manure is an issue, currently. I have learned that you need to wait until you are prepared to plant more crops before using the manure because every season change (every three in-game days), your fields will reset even if you do not grow anything in them. I do not know if this is intentional, but I wasted a lot of manure before I learned this. So, save using your manure for right before you plant seeds. Do it all at once. The problem I am having with the manure is, it will not always let me place it down. I believe that is a glitch. There is no logical reason why I cannot fertilize the garden. It might depend on the weather, I am not sure. I did try to fertilize during the rain one day and it would not always let me. I did 7 out of the 8 plots and could not fertilize the 8th one for some reason. So, just be aware. Many have complained about it in the forums and the devs are on top of fixing the bugs reported, so we'll see!!

Hey Kage if you need money hit those berry bush, you get 4-5 per bush and each berry sells for 1 gold, in 5 min i ripped hole town, getting up to 5k gold takes 1 day, insane. Hotkey 1 spear and game will automaticly pull another one if you have in your inventory. And some of the chests are not empty, outside that village is 2 small huts with boxes inside 1 of them contains iron tools , scyth that you wear looking at at 4:52 and some other things, in one village up you can finde also in 1 shed bow and 200 arrows,you cant sell them in same town because they are stoled goods but but you can use them or sell in another town.

I think stone axe give you more money since it only needs rocks (2) and sticks (6 ?). Yeah I know it quite tricky to pick a rock but sometimes you will find there are clusters of them like deep in the forest. And also you can spot rocks better at winter. I spent half of my first winter to collect them and make a ton of cash out of it.

I see one unbalance in this game, you either should get a technology useable in a building when you build it, or you should not be able to build the building if you don't have a technology to use it. This would prevent you from wasting resources and having to pay taxes on something you can't use. IRL you wouldn't build a tailor shop unless you knew how to sew things in that shop.

I have farms that are bugged (unploughed field) nothing works on them. After an update yesterday I managed to get two farms going and the manure worked after harvesting so but other farms are still bugged. Also not sure if you figured this out (haven't finished the vid) but rocks are so freaking easy to find in the winter. Spent a whole day making axes outside a village.

go to a town near u that has Rye growing, their is a small hut with a Scyth in it as well as Hoe's use them cut down the Rye but don`t pick it up. it counts towards your farming. As long as your not seen u can take stuff and it doesn`t affect anything.

As of 0.1.2.4 you now use the wooden shovel to remove stumps and it gives you 1 log. Funny thing is, I've removed tree stumps before and there's no way in hell you are doing that successfully with a wooden shovel any time in your life time.

The best and fastes Way for easy $$ in the start is to collect unripe Berry and selv them, u can carry a ton og them and gået 3-5 pr Bush. Made lige 400+ on a coaster of Berry bushes
