Nishinoyas Gorila move is also a call back to when he used to save the ball with rolling thunder, but ended up blocking the way for the back line hitter. He has learned, and that is why he moves out of the way now for Azumane

Kuro is the character who represents the best the philosophy of Haikyuu. He's competitive like Hinata or Kageyama. However his real mission in life is to make everyone enjoy volleyball the way he does. He was the first who noticed Tsuki's potential and put the effort to develop it and he's glad to see how Tsuki become a volleyball enjoyer.

26:33 for Kenma’s comments I don’t think it’s any genuine animosity. It’s more of how like when you’re really close to a friend they typically do things they annoy you and/or you make fun of each other. It’s more akin to banter/teasing from a really close friend rather than anything actually malicious and resentment towards him.

28:40 This moment is also a bit of a callback to S4 when Kageyama called him out for getting in the way of the back line's approach after making a dig during the Dateko practice match. As you can see, not only did he learn from his mistake, but he allowed room for Asahi to get a clean kill from the back line because of it

Whenever we get the "cliff" imagery, the characters involved are usually very serious. I think this is what sets Hinata apart and truly makes him a "monster"--he *loves* the cliff edge, the challenge, he was overjoyed that he got to overcome something so treacherous.

26:44 this is the same Kenna that gets mad at gravity for making him more tired. 😂 it’s not a real thing about animosity it’s more like he’s just contemplating how Kuro is the reason he’s playing today. When he said if you were just some party jerk I wouldn’t play shows how he knows Kuro is a deep guy who knows Kenma in and out.

The Japenese "pair of oni" reference comes from an early analogy Nekomata and Kenma made about Kageyama and Hinata. Back then, their skill as a duo relied on how well Kageyama used Hinatas speed and height, in essence Kageyama was the only one using any skill, " an oni (demon) and his club" Now that Hinata has become an exceptional player who isnt reliant on Kageyama to use his skills, he is a demon himself, "a pair of oni", or as the manga puts it, "its not a demon and his club anymore, thats a demon and demon right there"

Kageyama tossing a four (or just setting high? not sure which name is preferred) to Hinata is such great writing on so many levels. It is a culmination of so much growth for both of them - Hinata gets (or rather chooses) to let go of his main weapon, speed, that he used to have to overly rely on, and Kageyama gives Hinata the most freedom as a spiker with this set, so opposite to his early tendencies to try and handle everything by himself. The way Ukai encouraged Kageyama was so nice too - in Japanese, it’s no so much about confidence, Ukai actually tells him to be brave (similar enough, I know, but the nuance). And I love how in the movie they chose to show a random team down on their knees in defeat behind Ukai as he says it, showing how scary and potentially risky being brave can be. Poetic cinema :")

that high set is doubly meaningful so soon after the Inarizaki match when the team is panicking and rushing and Hinata slows them all down to a manageable pace with the high pass he puts up on his receive, it's essentially Kageyama returning the favor to him, showing that he's still growing as a player, acknowledging Hinata's own growth, and all at the same time, showing that they're still in a way competing with each other to be the best even when they're not opponents on the court, this is the kind of stuff that shows the difference between good and great story telling
@AlquimistEd
@AlquimistEd Ай бұрын
I think the ways Kenma "attacked" Kuro verbally in-between the second and third set were not meant in a bad way by Kenma, I think he's saying that even though Kuro can be persistent and "annoying" these compliment the fact that he's good at building up others, and he wouldn't be playing volleyball if it weren't for that. So it's more like "good annoying". 😆

The soccer scene with the dad asking him to go play soccer, as someone who's struggled with friendships I saw that for what it was, that Kuroo really knew his friend and didn't want to force him along to something he doesn't want to do. To me, that scene really hit in the feels in a good way, having a friend who truly knows you like that. For some, they'd invite them to come watch, but Kenma really didn't seem interested in that either, and it really showed how much Kuroo knew and understood Kenma, and to me that's one of the biggest points here that Friendships don't have to mean you go do everything together because sometimes you just don't like the same things.

When Kenma said “he lied” he meant about “not having to move around as much.” Of course he probably would have said that if there was any moving around at all lol. And to answer your questions yes, Kenma was heavily into video games even before he first met Kuroo. That’s why his dad liked the idea of Kuroo taking him out to play with the other boys, he hoped it’d “normalize” him a bit more.

I've always marvelled at the detail this anime goes into. Even the sounds of the balls, are on point. When they had the different balls early in the anime they had a slightly different sound like Molten and Mikasa balls do in real life. It's one of the things that makes this one of the greatest anime's I've ever seen and likely will ever see. The attention to detail is first class.

The Lev push-up scene, I'm pretty sure he was doing that because Kuroo mentioned having weights to be able to do just a few so Lev was trying to do that. The "gorilla walk" one, I think was in reference to an earlier episode where he did the "Rolling Thunder" but wound up directly in front of Asahi and got called out by Kageyama, so this to me looked like he was showing more awareness and took that extra "gorilla step" so he was out of the way of the hitter behind him. Just my 2 cents.

They cut out so much of this game to fit in one movie. With the flashbacks between Kuro and Kenya you really see their growth and understanding. Kenma is younger than Kuro, if they lose it will be their last game playing together because Kenma has no desire to continue after high school. Kenma is recognizing Kuro's strengths here, he talks a lot but he knows just what to say to build people up (this is a hint to Kuro's future but that's a spoiler) I think the Japanese language has a more melancholic feel to Kenma's reminiscences that doesn't come across with the English subtitles.

I am not sure if anyone mentioned this, it is deleted in the animated movie, but in the comic, it shows that the reason why Hinata is able to hit the high ball (since he usually hit quick in Karasuno) is because, when he was practicing by himself before he got into Karasuno, he just found anyone that can just throw a high ball for him to hit the ball.

I wouldn't call it animosity Kenma has towards Kuroo, in a lot of ways it's parallel to Hinata aggressively encouraging Yachi. I feel like he feels inspired, and he's self-aware enough to realize that has a lot to do with Kuroo and also understands how he's doing it. But he's annoyed, because despite knowing he's getting got by his enthusiasm and charm - he's helpless to do anything about it I think it's all just duality there - he was dragged into something unbelievably fun that is also a nuisance to his lifestyle So despite him knowing Kuroo is pushing him forward in a positive way it still annoys him lol

In the manga, coach ukai said "be brave / have courage" to kageyama. Also after the centre open scene, in the manga, suga think to himself "kageyama who is the prisoner of speed no longer exists". That're some detail that should be in this movie. Not to mention scenes where Bokuto acknowledged that Yaku is a libero that can kill a spiker without touching the ball n Kuroo said that from the beginning they are aware that Kageyama is the most dangerous one in Karasuno are also not included. But I think the one that we got robbed the most is the animated ver of young coach ukai n nekomata 😢.

There’s one thing I want everyone who didn’t see the manga to know🥹 Before Hinata jumped high to hit the high middle set, Kenma thought “many people not good at spiking high sets, Hinata has always done fast attacks, I don’t think he can get used to it…” there’s another flashback in the manga: back in junior high, Hinata asking his friends that didn’t play volleyball-“please, just tossing it high would be good!” It’s all the hard work in the past makes him able to hit that high ball🥹That’s such a beautiful arc…It gave me chills when I read that…wish they had spent just 5 more second for this🥺

@@ElevateYourselfOfficial Slam Dunk is a basketball manga that run from 1990 to 1996. A portion of it was animated from 1993 to 1996. The First Slam Dunk (2002) was the directorial debut of the manga artist, Inoue Takehiko. It covered the ending of the manga that was never animated in the 90s. Inoue-sensei wrote the 2-hour movie to be enjoyed by viewers who have no previous knowledge of the series. In fact, I know a few people who saw the movie first and then got into the original manga/anime after.

I love your reactions sooo much!!! But as it hasn't been explained yet. Kenma seems like he's talking negatively but it's not exactly him being upset with Kuroo talking. He's thinking about how since Kuroo is so good with his words and knows just the right things to say, he managed to convince Kenma to play Volleyball even though Kenma isn't a big fan of sports and Kuroo is sort of responsible for how Kenma came to love the game. So it's not like negative - you talk a lot. But more like something he noticed kuroo does- his voice just makes it sound negative because it is a very deadpanned voice 😂

Since I just started watching/reading Haikyuu and begun watching reactions this year he's not the only one. A lot of people do. I think it's bc people don't really pay attention to all the information being told/shown. Or simply don't interpret it. The biggest contributor is Kenma's non athleticism being attributed to simple laziness. When it's NOT. The fact is Kenma has very real physical limitations & stamina. Him pushing through those means getting physically ill (aka his fevers). It's not that Kenma can't work hard it's that there are real consequences when he pushes against those limits. Hence why he takes his time completing runs or workouts. He has to go at a steady, even pace. In haikyuu no one knows his physical abilities better than Kenma. But most ppl think if he simply tried harder or pushed he'd get better but no his body just gives out and he become sick w/fevers. I don't think reactors pick on this at all.
