Chihiro reminds me a lot of Batman. A character and story you expect to be edgy, dark and grim based on the protags backstory but there is so much more hope and heart then you expected. Breath of fresh air for typical revenge stories.

He is actually the mature and far better version of Batman. Batman's philosophy is really shitty when you get deep into it. Batman is just really masquerading his personal justice and hiding it by not wanting to kill. Some criminals are sure victims of society and deserved to be rehabilitated and integrated back to society with fully functioning limbs. The top guys who schemes, they don't deserve as much considering the majority of them operate from greed and not like the regular street criminal who are forced by need to survive. At least turn the main villains into vegetable instead of the regular guy. Chihiro's kills count more to bringing more justice in the world. And the side stories showing Batman finally killing his nemesis just further downplays his philosophy and sense of justice. Sometimes you need to kill when it counts more and not when it becomes convenient for you (i.e. when the other guy is threatening someone you know). Sometimes preventing the trauma of an innocent person matters more than the life of a bad guy (or many bad guys) who has chosen to be a bad guy. Sure a life is a life but we all know some life deserve to be taken away.

I hope that studio Ufotable gets their hands on Kagurabachi for an anime adaptation after they finish with Demon Slayer. This manga has been fantastic so far, so imagine how much Ufotable would be able to uplift it as they do with Demon Slayer. Ufotable's style fits so well with Kagurabachi and with all due respect, I think Kagurabachi is on track to have a far better story than Demon Slayer. I already like it way more than DS.

I think Chihiro has inherited the best qualities of Naruto and Sasuke. He has a determined and honest nature around him like Naruto, that character in story are gravitated towards him. He as well shares Sasukes resilience and sense of justice (pre-itachi fight) that helps him win the bloodiest of battles. Two scenes I think best highlights these qualities is when Chihiro has to surrender his enchanted blade to save Hakuri life, and when he cuts down Sojo, destroying both his blade and Sojo dream of surpassing his father.

@@pbsuite it’s only two arcs in. Give it some time. I personally really like Char, Shiba and Hakuri. And if I’m being honest, JJK is way overhyped IMO. The anime is great but the source material is generic or just plain lazy. Like Mai massacring the Zen’ins but drawn in sketches or stick figures. And don’t get me started on the info dumps. Just literal walls of text that isn’t even interesting, it’s like gege knew he was ass pulling and needed 4 pages to explain why it wasn’t an ass pull. I’m at the point I don’t even care how it ends and I’m pretty neither does gege because the quality has gone down the drain. JJK had a lot of potential but it just feels so lazy now.

One of the most poignant aspects about him is when he finally comes face to face with the man who admitted to organzing the attack on his father. Instead of losing himself in a blind rage, he desperately asks why he did it, returning the 15 year old kid who just had his world shattered. I feel like he hasn't actually grived properly for his father and is like Guts where his mission, while important, is really his way of escaping from dealing with the pain of Kunishige's death.

Chihiro really caught my eyes, simply because of how much is shown instead of told. His backstory is tragic, but simple. Instead, we see how his journey of revenge left him broken, wanting to fix himself anew. When he met the man who killed his dad, and the only thing he could do was bombard that man with questions, it honestly broke my heart. Reminds us that Chihiro isn’t just some hero of justice, but he’s also still a son in pain.

Kagurabachi has literally gone through 2 major arcs with perfect conclusions while giving the audience a sneak peek into the next by ch44. In the same time Megumi was flexing Max Elephant for the first time against KAMO (lol). They were/are moving in fundamentally different story trajectories, and that's okay, GOOD even. Kagurabachi isn't trying to bite JJK's style or momentum, and it's better for it: there are plenty of new Shounen series that fit that bill. You're doing the equivalent of biting into an apple expecting it to taste like cheese. You, like every fan ever, DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, and it shows.
