The sequel had potential at first cuz of the new Jaeger and Kaiju designs but the story, writing, and the characters were off... I don't mind it though but if they plan on making another sequel for Pacific Rim again, I do hope Del Toro comes back as director and producer and also quite possibly ignore the events of the second film... Basically a remake or reboot of the second film but with a better story.

Ignoring square-cubed law, Bunker buster munitions kind of nullify the threat of anything you see in monster movies. I find it hard to believe something that can tunnel 60 feet of concrete and 140 feet of bedrock would be very impressed by a kaijū even if it's skin was made of graphite. What I’ve found is that in the new trailer for “Pacific Rim: Uprising” there seemed to be jaegers fighting each other. This could either mean A) there might’ve been a political dispute between nations and now the jaegers are being used for war and the Kaiju show up through possibly another breach from another cloning facility, making it a lot harder to fight them with nations possibly being at war with each other or B) the precursors realized that kaiju couldn’t alone defeat the human race so they either reverse engineered their own jaegers using what they found in newton’s brain or they developed some kinda bio weapon that takes over tech and while the possessed jaegers are fighting the human controlled ones, the kaiju come and take out the populace while the humans are occupied. Either way, I would find both of the theories interesting to see in movie form and thought I’d share them. Hope you respond just found the channel today.

when they said Gypsy was fine because she's analog, I giggled. A gigantic analog robot, piloted by 2?! The writers were clearly baked before writing that scene. The whole 'Drift' thing is based on neuro-electrical interface - brain mates with machine. An EMP would fuck up that system, requiring at least a reboot. That being said, EMP proofing is standard on most high risk electronics. The fact that the several tonne combat robots, tall enough to be hit by lightning, were not EMP proofed was really dumb.
@2ethefirst3187 жыл бұрын
What they meant by analog, was that the system used to control the bot wasn't electronic. The one Gypsy danger used im pretty sure was a hydraulic design. Thats why their systems didnt get completely knocked out

If punches or a sword strike from a Jaeger can damage a Kaiju, then conventional military weapons should be equally effective. Yes yes, I realize the movie is about robots punching monsters, but if you put that aside for amoment and look at the forces involved, a sword strike from Gipsy is no greater than a depleted uranium shell from a main battle tank, in terms of force...
@jacksonopison5746 жыл бұрын
Then if the military shot the Kaiju at sea with tanks then we will die, since Kaiju have toxic blood which can completely poison our water supplies. Jaegers can move pass this issue since they can do the next best thing, blunt force trauma. Gipsy Danger only uses her sword in extreme situations to prevent this issue from happening.

Only thing I don’t like about this movie is the way they describe dinosaurs. Everyone knows that they didn’t have a second brain and they definitely not aliens.
@camilleoreilly70635 жыл бұрын
Nathaniel Bergeron actually some dinosaurs that were extremely large are believed to have had “second” brains near the second half of their bodies in order to establish steady blood flow to limbs and other things.

didnt the stegosaurus have two brains or something like that

hog doctor it was thought to have one due to the walnut size brain cavity that found, but it is proven it didn’t have 2 brains

One Jaeger costs around 100 Billion $, as stated in the novel/comic. The US ALONE has a yearly tax/whatever income of around 5 TRILLION dollars. That means that if the US switched into full gear on producing Jaegers, they could build ~50 Jaegers a year. Now take into account that probably at LEAST 10 other countries would step in to help fund Jaegers if this scenario ever actually happened, and we'd be able to make 100's of Jaegers a year potentially.
@jacksonopison5746 жыл бұрын
Hey Nicolas2465, that was the cost for Mark 4 Striker Eureka. Which in theory could let us make Mark 7 Jaegers if we can develop the technology, but we also need to consider city rebuilding (in case the kaiju got to land), daily maintenance of both the Jaegers and the Shatterdomes they reside in, and the stocking of all the worldwide Shatterdomes’s food which could cost thousands since they have tons of staff

we have china to thank for a sequel! American audience are narrow minded and only watches movies with the Disney logo slapped on.
@konnokyo7 жыл бұрын
well too bad it is true. Domestic BO was only 100 mil. Foreign around 310 mil. Americans did not see this movie. It flopped there. That's why del toro didn't get the permission to do a second one. It succeeded greatly in china, who are now financing a larg portion of it. So how about you just your cake hole? Also D they could come from australia, or E from asia! Le gasp. What is it with that stupid enumeration?

TheHmongol That's a stupid observation. The US had the second highest box office for this movie out of every country (and China only made about $10 million more than the US, which isn't a big gap at all).
