Your Malawi cichlids are beatiful, it was actually your tank that prompted me to mix all 3 species in mine, they are still at a very young age now around six months or so, barely getting some color on them and I love seeing their transformation. I also have another tank with discuss, angels and tetras. I think along with tge Malawi cichlids, discuss are also the closest thing in terms of coloration to marine fish. Because of your tank also I got the idea of growing green algae on the rocks, they love it, always gracing on it. Great job again your cichlids are amazing looking.

I've converted all my tanks to Frenzy Fish Feeds, they're another Australian company that use whole ingredients and it's awesome. It took me a while to find one I liked in the way of no fillers like wheat, I'm glad. And I also feed frozen brine shrimp, not frozen baby brine I hatch them myself.

Super informative video.....thanks! I've always feed my Cichlids a variety of pellets and flake food from various manufacturers, so I know they get a healthy diet. I also treat them occasionally to some frozen brine shrimp which they love......but not to often. I have my water pump attached to a feed timer so none of the food gets sucked into the filter during feeding, it's set to 20-minutes so the plecos can get some off the bottom also before the pump kicks back in. Thanks for such high quality content......

Absolutely Beautiful Aquariums & this is Testimony to this Girls Knowledge, Kaity seems to have the Right & Correct Attitude. I agree with One comment on that their is nothing better than coming home from what could be a noisy Work environment as mine can be at times & to just sit & enjoy that Silence & the Relaxation that comes with it. Sitting there with a cup of hot chocolate before bed seems like the ideal place to be in ones own mind. Fantastic Stuff by Kaity & I hope she has plenty of Success in that She Does. Many Regards John

I have black sand in my 55 G tank and peakcock Cichlid, I want to setup a 10G with white sand but worry the algae will grown on the surface of the white sand. Pls share your experience. Does it actually work for colouring africans up. I'm looking for another type of food for a Change over danichi. Did you try the malawi cichlids on the gel?
@Kaityscichlids8 ай бұрын
Yes it does! I've been using the Aquamunch colour flake only now to colour them up and it works well and I'm much happier with the ingredients compared to what the Absolute Colour brand had. I don't use the gel, I personally don't like gel foods because I find them a pain to make and quite messy. But Nigel who makes the Aquamunch foods uses the gel to bulk feed all of his African Cichlids at his store

@PoetofHateSpeech Жыл бұрын
@Kaityscichlids tbh, you should stick to the English spelling and not copy the incorrect American spelling
@lifeofskittlesthekitty247 Жыл бұрын
@@PoetofHateSpeech In American English the spelling is color which is correct.In UK colour is standard spelling ok .There are different dialects of English in different areas of the world they have their own slang words spoken in that area even within Uk and USA Canada and Australia New Zealand have their local area dialects to sit there say everyone in the world speaks spells (except Americans) like the UK isn't correct and besides I wasn't critical of kaity spelling colour I was just pointing out we spell color in America..she can spell colour that way all she wants to
@PoetofHateSpeech Жыл бұрын
@lifeofskittlesthekitty247 I know you weren't knocking her. I've lived in all those places (except Canada), and they spell all the words the same as the English. It's really only the Americans that spell things differently
@darrenharber6711 Жыл бұрын
If some of them are herbivores why wouldn't you plant out the tank to provide a natural food source???
@zlamanit Жыл бұрын
Many reasons. For one, the fish prefer rocky environment with minimal vegetation. But if you actually try to grow plants with them, then they either aren't interested in plants that grow or the plant gets eaten. There are also issues with additional maintancene, different dietary needs, and astetic reasons.
@Kaityscichlids Жыл бұрын
For the Tropheus it is actually good to have algae growth on the rocks for them to graze on! But as mentioned in the comment above, they love to eat plants just a little too much, so they wipe them out pretty quickly. I've seen people have success with some types though, like anubias, but that's because the fish aren't eating it

@PoetofHateSpeech Жыл бұрын
Aquamunch isn't. They are all grain free. They will be trying to get a grain free pellet out next year. I think they used to be bad, but aquamunch has some of the best ingredients these days

Another very informative video. Your new fish are coming along quite nicely. Tell me, any aggression from the Tropheus yet? I’ve always wanted to keep them but was always talked out of them. I’ve heard they are high maintenance and very aggressive.
@Kaityscichlids Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! And no, not at all! They have been peaceful towards one another and the other fish. Granted they aren't fully grown yet so that may change. But I have found them to be less aggressive than my peacocks and mbuna so far
@anonamus-w4j Жыл бұрын
Plenty of fish change sex, often an important part of some species. I really find it hard to believe it has a bad effects on a fish that usually doesn't change sex, only from maybe other fish due to rivalry and the not eating thing you noticed would just be due to the hormone change I am certain it will be eating fine with in week once the change is complete and balanced. Anyone over 14 should remember what a hormone switch flip does to normal operations. Wow, has anyone chucked a $5 eps32 into one of them fish feeders not only would it give you uncountable options for times and amounts, but you could connect in to your network and have your fish tank connected to your phone with live camera options. Pattern pending stop stealing my tech ideas unless you're sharing the wealth... Joke it's all open source and easy enough for a kid to program and control.

The things I've heard have been like people comparing it to taking steroids, but I tried so hard to find proper research into it and couldn't find any. And that sounds like a fantastic idea actually 🤣 I would absolutely love to have a camera on my fish tank lol
