The aluminum actually protected the circuit board by acting as a sacrificial anode, we see very little copper corrosion.

Interesting, cool to see, where cisco actually came from. I have seen a lot of those 75Ohm propably cable TV modules as well lately, seems like a lot of it reached its end of life around now.

In Denmark there has been a very aggressive roll-out of fiber to the premise, virtually eradicating cable TV/Internet, with matching prices and better performance. I even see a lot of CATV fiber equipment, which is more modern than this one, being scrapped.
