A adapted zod wouldve destroyed superman and earths heroes. Then he would be facing against darkseid and steppenwolf who is seeking to enslave the universe with the anti life equation. Unlike superman, zod wouldn’t hold back against enemies attacking his planet. Villain vs villain.

Zod was defeated by Kal-El's father despite being outnumbered. This shows that Jor-El's DNA gave Kal-El higher strength and intelligence than Zod. Though Zod was bred to be a soldier, Kal-El's DNA from the house of El was probably much superior. In addition, Kal-El had adapted to Earth's atmosphere whereas Zod needed more time

I absolutely love his justification for his behavior (Zod). It was literally in his genetic code that he was to protect Kryptonians. He wasn't evil, he wanted to protect his race. Shannon is insanely underrated in this role, Zod is a hard character to bring to life from the comics, and he had to follow Stamp's iconic performance. You can really tell that his drive to fight Superman is because Kal-El left him no choice. A part of Zod doesn’t want to fight, harm, and possibly kill another last member of the Kryptonian race, but he’s really angry that Kal-El is challenging and antagonizing him. He’d sooner kill a human first than Kal but he knows he has to take him out first to even be able to do so.

I disagree with this statement Actually, I find this movie to get worse and worse the more I watch it. I really liked this movie a lot at first, I actually thought it was great, but man the more times I watched it, I keep getting disappointed about how I kept noticing new problems I didn’t spot before, and it just kept falling apart, and I’ve started to realize how so much of the movie fails, An example I would give out of the many is Zod’s execution of his plan, how he puts the World Engine laser dead center in the middle of Metropolis full of millions of people. Does Zod not realize how he’s alerting the entire world to his location, including the one living person on the planet that has a chance at stopping them? Wouldn’t it make more sense to place it in the South Pole? And the North Pole? That way Supes Isn’t immediately on his him, trying to stop him? He probably would’ve had a much higher chance of winning if he did that, and he should have known that too, cause he’s supposed to be intelligent, but if you think about his plan more you start you realize he’s not very smart sometimes. Another scene is when he’s interrogating Martha Clark, and he thinks she knows the location of the thing he wants, but then his next action is so dumb how he throws a truck into her house! Like for all he knew the thing he was looking for was in there!! He could have destroyed it!! That would have ruined everything for him if so, but luckily he didn’t, so we’re just meant to pretend it’s fine. No it’s not fine. It was incredibly stupid. The action was still made, whatever the outcome ended up being, it doesn’t matter. Zod’s incredibly incompetent, and the worst part is that the movie pretends that he’s intelligent, and bred for war, but the way he does his plan is incredibly stupid, and shatters that interesting aspect of his character unfortunately, and people think Zod is a good character by the concept of what his character is supposed to be alone, but not really criticize wether if he executes it well or not. I like the concepts they have for Zod’s characters a lot, but I don’t think they were done as well as they could have been. I also thought Lois not being sucked into a Black Hole was really funny, and is the perfect scene to demonstrate how much plot armor she has. Man, I’ve probably only discussed like 5% of my issues with this movie in this comment section, yet I’ve typed so much already. I can criticize so much for hours, and the ones I pointed here, honestly aren’t even that big of issues as some other things I have to say. to me, the film only downgrades more I watch it. I however still do love it’s visual’s and cinematography, my thoughts have stayed the same for those. I think those are both still amazing. Yeah, anyways I don’t expect a lot of people here to agree, but that’s fine, I don’t even really expect most people to read through all of this anyways, just those who are interested.

Why did critics complain about this fight?! "Superman is supposed to save evrybody". Let's not forget this is a Superman who has never been in a really fight before. So he is still figuring out what the extent of his powers are when he needs to use them in a fight. That is why the fight is so destructive. Superman and Zod are pretty Imovable objects in an environment that is fully movable. It's basically like firing a bullet through a peice of paper. In the heat of the moment Supermans main concern is to stop Zod who who eradicate the human population in a heartbeat of given the chance and superman knows this which is why he is going at it so heavy handed. He's trying g to drop Zod as quick as possible but because Zod has the same powers as him, he has to fight and hit harder and that means a lot of collateral damage in the process.

The best villains are those who have a really good reason to be. Zod is one of the kryptonian created by that machine, his literal only purpose in life, the very reason his exist is to be a soldier, and a soldier's goal is to protect it's people and his home world. Against him stand Kal-El, the first kryptonian in hundreds of years to be born naturally and is therefore the only kryptonian alive to be completely free of his choices in life and the o ly one whose fate isn't determined for him before his birth. From Zod's point of view, Superman represent everything a kryptonian shouldn't be, a dead weight that doesn't participate in society and isn't a patriot in a way. So when Krypton exploded, it left a void in Zod and his comrade's heart. A void they had a chance to replace again by terraforming Earth. So despite Superman representing hope for humans, an objective to achieve, when Superman ruined all of Zod's plan and provoked the death of his comrade,he killed the last bit of hope Zod had at seeing Krypton again. Superman destroyed the reason why he even exist in the first place. And the best part in all of this ? Zod is perfectly aware that what he is doing is wrong but he doesn't care because he think what he is doing is the right thing for Krypton.

@@Cyberleader672 Yeah, mistakes are made but you gotta understand he's been Superman for a couple weeks to a good month by than, he's inexperienced in the hero department yet despite this he's doing the best he can with what little experience he has as Superman and on top of that Zod is no fool, he's a military general and he's very much aware that Superman cares for the safety and well being of the people so he fights Superman within the city grounds where people's lives are in jeopardy giving himself an advantage while disadvantaging Superman and whenever Superman has a chance to move the fight elsewhere like fighting him above the city once Zod figure out how to fly or going to space, Zod always brings the fight right back in the city itself plus while Superman is fighting Zod, he becomes aware that he is getting stronger and stronger by the minute, Zod's military training has taught him to harness and master his body and senses, this allows Zod to subconsciously absorb the solar radiation from the sun much faster and much more proficient than superman which means Zod will eventually overpower Superman, kill him and than Earth is fucked, so he has to end the fight quickly, he has no time to check or prevent casualties.

@@metamind8674 Firstly, it doesn't matter if he's been Superman for a few days. He's had his powers for his whole life. He knows the destruction it causes. Secondly, Zod never tries to go after any humans until the end of the fight. He is focused entirely on Clark. All Clark has to do is lead him away. And with the truck it would have been easier for him to stop the truck than fly over. Thirdly, how is Zod stronger than Superman. He has had his powers for a day. Superman has had it for decades. And don't tell me it's because he's a soldier. He has never has super strength. He has never been able to fly. He has never had laser eyes. Being a soldier doesn't mean you automatically master anything you are given. Fourthly, Zod doesn't bring the fight back to the city. They crash down from space and just miraculously end up back in the city. Finally, if the fight actually showed Clark being forced to not save people because Zod was just constantly attacking it would be better but that's not what happens. There are so many times where he just stands there doing nothing. Going back to the truck. When that building starts collapses, Superman turns away from Zod and just watches the building go down. If Zod immediately attacked him after throwing the truck it would have been a lot better

I love how in this fight you can clearly see the strengths and weaknesses Zod and Superman have. Zod has the advantage of being genetically hardwired for battle, with the lack of morals and the level of military training he has, he's often easily countering Superman's more brawly untrained fighting style since Superman has never had to fight another Kryptonian, he's been able to brute force his way through every fight before. But Superman here has the advantage of much more experience with his abilities, which gives him the slight upper hand over Zod. But since Zod proved himself to be a very fast learner, I firmly believe that if Zod had survived just a bit longer he would have easily beaten Superman.

Nah bro he wouldn't have won. Superman has at least 20+ years of sunlight in him, along with the dna of a billion other kryptonians in him. Zod is one of, if not the most skilled kryptonian, but he simply lacks all the extra gifts Clark was dealt with. If you fight a person with the strength of a billion people, you may be a better fighter, but that other guy? He's simply holding back as to not straight up kill you at any point. That's what makes this fight dope though. Clark doesn't know that. That's why in every movie he gets more powerful as he unlocks more potential. Steppenwolf was a super dangerous threat. I'd argue way more than Zod, but Superman's unlocked potential proved way too much for even him. That's why Darkseid has always been one of the only beings who contends with the Man of Steel. I would've loved to see that fight.

The reason the destruction in Invincible works is because it serves a purpose other than looking stunning. The whole finale is Omni-Man trying to convince Invincible and himself that humanity is fragile and will easily die which is exactly why he massacres the city and kills thousands of people. @RATHALOS This climax has no emotional resonation or character purpose and the more you think about it the more it falls apart. Yes 100% there is going to be collateral damage on a massive scale, but Superman would undoubtedly do everything he can to limit that damage. Again I'm going to site Invincible it's been established multiple times that Viltrumites are not Invincible and can bleed and will take damage. So when we see the two combatants in the finale fight, we know that getting thrown through a building can and will hurt them. Here, why is Superman dragging Zod across a building when we all know that's not going to do anything but make Zod angrier? Why are they throwing each other through buildings full well knowing that it's not going to do anything? Not even the costumes tear. This is definitely something to what would happen if Gods were to Duke it out in a city but here it makes no sense. They both know that breaking these buildings isnt going to hurt them whatsoever so why try it? The only reason there's destruction here is for the movie to have an Epic climax. Even Hans Zimmer understood this when he wrote the score for this scene, just listen to it. It's not emotional or suspenseful its epic and loud. The destruction here has no logical, emotional, thematic, or character reason to exsist. It is definitely only here to look cool.

@@parabellum2o999 It's not supposed to be emotional. They emotional part was supposed to happen in BvS. BvS is part two of this. The emotional part was the outcome of this battle, it's not supposed to be in the battle. It depends on whose perspective we are looking at it from. Superman didn't see the people dying. Before he kills Zod he saw a family about to get killed by Zod's heat vision and that part was emotional and had emotions in it. After he kills Zod there was emotions there.

This movie was way ahead of it's time. The new 52 had just been born and people just weren't used to the idea of a darker, more realistic take on Superman. This movie got a lot of hate because of that, which was really undeserving. This is by far my favorite take on Superman. I know that people view Superman as a symbol that must always inspire hope, but Clark is only human too. Sure, he came from another planet and he has godlike abilities, but he still grew up as a normal person in Kansas. He could never fully relate to people, but he was still connected to them. It makes sense for him to be flawed, because nobody's perfect. It's why this is my favorite Superman movie, it's just a masterpiece to me.

Best thing about Zack Snyder's superhero movies? Pause on ANY action scene, and it literally looks like it's stripped from a graphic novel.

@@PautinoPR yep unfortunately, even tho I do like reeves but I like this movie a whole lot more would have prefer we got a 3 part movie series of man of steels with Henry super man just like with reeves exploring more of this Superman would have made certain movies like Superman v Batman & justice league work We can have lex still be a bad guy in the 2nd one And have the actual doomsday as the 3rd one make it a bitter sweet end with super dying like he does So when Superman v Batman happens they could introduce cyborg Superman which will be the actual one bats fights to make Batman’s judgement more realistic seeing the cyborg super going rouge so half way through the film you can introduce either Wonder Woman to assist Batman in defeating cyborg Superman until Actual supes revives near the end and fights cyborg Superman in the black kyrtonionian suit like in the comics From there they can do separate DC films for each justice league members for cyborg, flash, (Ben Aflac) Batman, aqua man, and throw in green lantern cause the league don’t feel the same without green lantern. During that time Superman is still recovering and during that recovery time that’s when the whole thing with Stephen wolf happens since they’ll take this chance while Superman is still recharging so we have a way for the plot to keep going and a way for Superman to be out of the way of the plot with that I think if they did something like that it would be perfect cause yes I love DC but I’ll admit somethings were quite a bit rushed but with a little bit of movies like marvel did but DC style giving each league members their own films would have helped cause they practically had to make their flash, cyborg, and aqua man on the fly when the fist justice league happened

@The1Returner then give me some REASONABLE critiques. Critiques such as "too much destruction" or "Superman never smiles." That's why MoS critics are dumb and fans are not. Because the reasons they give for saying MoS is a good movie is reasonable. The directing, the acting, cinematography, VXF, action, etc. Plenty of critiques? Fine, then give me some that are reasonable and not nitpicking. Then, I can say that YOU aren't an idiot. But the majority of critics provide stupid critiques such as "TOo MuCH DesTRUctIOn."

The scene where People see him flying out of the falling building it was so powerful They are literally watching a God reduce years, maybe decades of manual labor, to mere scraps like nothing Their fear is so strong you can almost fell it as well And in the end, they're all thinking: "a person like this, hidden for so many years, How did no one notice?"
