Another thing the haters ignore or didnt pay attention to....ZOD specifically states "This ends only one way Kal!!......either you die or I do"
@indio4-2152 жыл бұрын
@@The_Knight_Rider1980 Indeed, Zod wasn't going to stop no matter what, with Kal even pleading with Zod to stop when the general tried to kill that innocent family, to which Zod simply responded with "Never". Oh, and earlier in the fight, Zod also stated his intent on making the humans suffer, that he shall take them all from Kal one by one, and then having said to Kal that the only way this fight is going to end is if either he dies or Kal dies (as you stated in your comment). Plus, Kal, at that point, had no idea of the existence of kryptonite, much less the negative effects it obviously has on Kryptonians. Even if he did, it's very hard to come by. Furthermore, Zod is a trained general who's been bred to be the perfect warrior while Kal is just an inexperienced civilian by comparison, only getting by due to his greater experience in using his powers and having continually absorbed solar radiation for decades, and based on how fast Zod acclimated to both Earth's atmosphere and his powers (probably because of his training and self-discipline), I've no doubt that he would've surpassed Kal sooner than later and overpower him. Due to all of that, I've no issue at all with Supes killing Zod since the latter was far too dangerous to be kept alive. I apologize for making this comment long, it just really irritates me when some people stupidly condemn Kal killing Zod without looking at the situation logically.

He is a tragic character full of anger and bitterness that never really had a choice in the matter. He was created to protect Krypton and its race survival, no matter what. In his mind, every cruel action he takes its a mean that justifies the end. He doesnt enjoy what he does i think, he only does what he thinks is the greater good for his people. However, he couldnt be reasoned with in any way and would have destroyed humanity so Clark had to stop him. Thats also what makes Clark killing Zod so sad. Clark had to kill the only other living Kryptonian in the universe with his bare hands. It was a hard choice for him but Clark had none. Zod was never going to stop.

I recently rewatched this and noticed a huge flaw in people's arguments. They claim that Clark should've saved people, like when Zod kicks the truck into the multi-storey car park... Notice that Superman never takes his eyes off of Zod, until the massive explosion catches his attention at 2:31, then Zod sucker punched him in that moment of lapsed concentration. Then when the car falls on him at 2:47, he maintained full eye contact with Zod and kept fighting. He just threatened to kill every human, if Clark takes his eyes off him, that split second gives Zod a chance to kill without being stopped. He tries to never looks away because he's focused on stopping the villain.

The reason the destruction in Invincible works is because it serves a purpose other than looking stunning. The whole finale is Omni-Man trying to convince Invincible and himself that humanity is fragile and will easily die which is exactly why he massacres the city and kills thousands of people. Here there's destruction is mostly because it looks cool, but if there was a thematic purpose behind the destruction in this scene, it would also masterfully work

@RATHALOS This climax has no emotional resonation or character purpose and the more you think about it the more it falls apart. Yes 100% there is going to be collateral damage on a massive scale, but Superman would undoubtedly do everything he can to limit that damage. Again I'm going to site Invincible it's been established multiple times that Viltrumites are not Invincible and can bleed and will take damage. So when we see the two combatants in the finale fight, we know that getting thrown through a building can and will hurt them. Here, why is Superman dragging Zod across a building when we all know that's not going to do anything but make Zod angrier? Why are they throwing each other through buildings full well knowing that it's not going to do anything? Not even the costumes tear. This is definitely something to what would happen if Gods were to Duke it out in a city but here it makes no sense. They both know that breaking these buildings isnt going to hurt them whatsoever so why try it? The only reason there's destruction here is for the movie to have an Epic climax. Even Hans Zimmer understood this when he wrote the score for this scene, just listen to it. It's not emotional or suspenseful its epic and loud. The destruction here has no logical, emotional, thematic, or character reason to exsist. It is definitely only here to look cool.
@MrDoom8853 жыл бұрын
@@parabellum2o999 It's not supposed to be emotional. They emotional part was supposed to happen in BvS. BvS is part two of this. The emotional part was the outcome of this battle, it's not supposed to be in the battle. It depends on whose perspective we are looking at it from. Superman didn't see the people dying. Before he kills Zod he saw a family about to get killed by Zod's heat vision and that part was emotional and had emotions in it. After he kills Zod there was emotions there.

Why did everybody judge this fight scene negatively? If 2 beings of good-time power clashed, it would be on a biblical scale of destruction. And it's always done in the comics and tv shows, but then once a live action movie does it, then it's considered bad? I may die alone on this hill, but this fight scene is probably the best final climactic superhero movie fight scene of all-time.
@a.morphous663 жыл бұрын
The issue isn’t that there is destruction. The issue is that, until the very end of the fight, Superman does not go out of his way to save a single human soul. The battle crushes vehicles and buildings and likely kills thousands, but Superman doesn’t turn a single moment of attention to the fleeing civilians. The film shows plenty of proper heroics earlier on, such as the school bus and the oil rig, but for whatever reason, saving people and fighting the bad guy must be separated and cannot coexist. Good Superman media features Clark doing absolutely everything he can to prevent the loss of human life, but in this movie stopping the villain apparently requires all thoughts of collateral death to be disregarded in favor of “punch the dude”. Clark should always try to save as many people as possible, and him trying and then being unsuccessful could have served as an excellent thematic side to the fight (Zod’s willingness to sacrifice lives and disregard for humans vs Superman’s unwillingness to allow collateral damage and love for people) and a source of far more emotional investment than Clark shows as-is.
@@a.morphous66 Superman: yo probably one of the best and strongest generals of Krypton, Zod, if I don't stop you, you will gain too much power and outfight me in minutes, can you please wait for 10 secs so I can save 1 people from that building you literally destroyed that probably hundreds of people live in? The best villains are those who have a really good reason to be. Zod is one of the kryptonian created by that machine, his literal only purpose in life, the very reason his exist is to be a soldier, and a soldier's goal is to protect it's people and his home world. Against him stand Kal-El, the first kryptonian in hundreds of years to be born naturally and is therefore the only kryptonian alive to be completely free of his choices in life and the o ly one whose fate isn't determined for him before his birth. From Zod's point of view, Superman represent everything a kryptonian shouldn't be, a dead weight that doesn't participate in society and isn't a patriot in a way. So when Krypton exploded, it left a void in Zod and his comrade's heart. A void they had a chance to replace again by terraforming Earth. So despite Superman representing hope for humans, an objective to achieve, when Superman ruined all of Zod's plan and provoked the death of his comrade,he killed the last bit of hope Zod had at seeing Krypton again. Superman destroyed the reason why he even exist in the first place. And the best part in all of this ? Zod is perfectly aware that what he is doing is wrong but he doesn't care because he think what he is doing is the right thing for Krypton.

I can’t understand why people don’t like this version of Zod. I get that Terence Stamp was insanely charismatic and a brilliant actor, but this is interpretation of the character was a genetically brainwashed person who was engineered to only care about protecting krypton and its people. He was able to fight and or adapt this programming to his ego, but for the most part he believes and lives by it. The high council has lead krypton to ruin? Kill them all and erase their bloodlines to prevent a repeat while he takes over and tries to lead them in the right direction. His former friend steals the key to their species reproduction? Kill him and get it back. I’m not saying Zod isn’t a monster, but he was very honest and almost noble. And that these actions totally massage his ego is the icing on the cake for him.

Why did critics complain about this fight?! "Superman is supposed to save evrybody". Let's not forget this is a Superman who has never been in a really fight before. So he is still figuring out what the extent of his powers are when he needs to use them in a fight. That is why the fight is so destructive. Superman and Zod are pretty Imovable objects in an environment that is fully movable. It's basically like firing a bullet through a peice of paper. In the heat of the moment Supermans main concern is to stop Zod who who eradicate the human population in a heartbeat of given the chance and superman knows this which is why he is going at it so heavy handed. He's trying g to drop Zod as quick as possible but because Zod has the same powers as him, he has to fight and hit harder and that means a lot of collateral damage in the process.

More people die as long as Zod continues his reign of destruction. And so to save lives, Superman has to stop Zod. Small problem, Zod has the same powers as Superman, military trained, and no remorse for those he kills.

I disagree with this statement Actually, I find this movie to get worse and worse the more I watch it. I really liked this movie a lot at first, I actually thought it was great, but man the more times I watched it, I keep getting disappointed about how I kept noticing new problems I didn’t spot before, and it just kept falling apart, and I’ve started to realize how so much of the movie fails, An example I would give out of the many is Zod’s execution of his plan, how he puts the World Engine laser dead center in the middle of Metropolis full of millions of people. Does Zod not realize how he’s alerting the entire world to his location, including the one living person on the planet that has a chance at stopping them? Wouldn’t it make more sense to place it in the South Pole? And the North Pole? That way Supes Isn’t immediately on his him, trying to stop him? He probably would’ve had a much higher chance of winning if he did that, and he should have known that too, cause he’s supposed to be intelligent, but if you think about his plan more you start you realize he’s not very smart sometimes. Another scene is when he’s interrogating Martha Clark, and he thinks she knows the location of the thing he wants, but then his next action is so dumb how he throws a truck into her house! Like for all he knew the thing he was looking for was in there!! He could have destroyed it!! That would have ruined everything for him if so, but luckily he didn’t, so we’re just meant to pretend it’s fine. No it’s not fine. It was incredibly stupid. The action was still made, whatever the outcome ended up being, it doesn’t matter. Zod’s incredibly incompetent, and the worst part is that the movie pretends that he’s intelligent, and bred for war, but the way he does his plan is incredibly stupid, and shatters that interesting aspect of his character unfortunately, and people think Zod is a good character by the concept of what his character is supposed to be alone, but not really criticize wether if he executes it well or not. I like the concepts they have for Zod’s characters a lot, but I don’t think they were done as well as they could have been. I also thought Lois not being sucked into a Black Hole was really funny, and is the perfect scene to demonstrate how much plot armor she has. Man, I’ve probably only discussed like 5% of my issues with this movie in this comment section, yet I’ve typed so much already. I can criticize so much for hours, and the ones I pointed here, honestly aren’t even that big of issues as some other things I have to say. to me, the film only downgrades more I watch it. I however still do love it’s visual’s and cinematography, my thoughts have stayed the same for those. I think those are both still amazing. Yeah, anyways I don’t expect a lot of people here to agree, but that’s fine, I don’t even really expect most people to read through all of this anyways, just those who are interested.

@t-moneymayhem73863 жыл бұрын
@@andersondalmeus1406 your right, he does want to be the governing body, but that is because he thinks it is necessary. I think he said in the beginning of the movie that the council was just debating endlessly while the planet died. I think it was supposed to be a metaphor to our current climate change political situation. Anyway, then he said that they'd get rid of the defective bloodlines that led to their ruin, and Jor el was like "and who'd decide? You?" So essentially it was the old "my way is the right way, and everyone opposing it needs to be stopped or else we'll all perish." What I'm getting at is that, Zod thinks he'll make a better krypton. Also, terraforming earth wouldn't lead to the same mistakes necessarily, it was harvesting the core. He might do that, but it is not the kryptonian tradition to do so necessarily, so he may not (krypton harvested the core towards the end of it's life cause they thought they had to, not sure why, it's vague). It's hard to say if he'd do the same thing as the council as he doesn't really say what he'd do different, just that the council sucked. Maybe he just wanted to be in charge, it's certainly not far fetched, but not what everything else points to I think. I certainly don't think his speech in the video is off brand.

@t-moneymayhem73863 жыл бұрын
I agree in that good villains are relatable, and that they can definitely make sense, but their outlook needs to be flawed. The reason why is that, otherwise, the villain is right and he is no longer a villain, but the antagonist, and the hero is no longer the hero, but the protagonist. I distinguish the two. Heros and villains are right and wrong or good and evil, protagonists and antagonists are sides of a conflict. Essentially, I think a villain should be understandable so he feels real, but still wrong so as to keep the hero the one your rooting for. Zod for instance is understandable in his putting krypton over humanity, but wrong as he really doesn't have too and its not "good" to sacrifice a race for your own.

And just so yall know, zod WASNT adapted in the flash movie. And still managed to whoop ass. This is the first time in movie history where they bring back an old villain and nerfs him BUT ends up winning EVERYTIME. Zod is horrifying.

She's a girl. Vs a trained warrior a man at that. No doubt even Kryptonian body is similar with human. Since Clark can have baby with Lois.
