This is amazing! I love how much thought was put into this. I haven’t heard of Toki Pona until literally today, and found this cover in the process! The vocalist did a really good job, too! It really goes to show how fluid translation can be across multiple languages-the English, Japanese, Spanish, and even this version all word their lyrics differently yet still convey the same general themes and subject matter of the song, and do so well, in ways that sound natural and flow well with the meter. It sucks that the Internet normally gets angry or toxic whenever anything translation or localization-related is brought up, you know? There’s this mentality that if something isn’t worded exactly the way it is in Japanese, or the original language, it’s automatically bad or wrong or was a mistake of some kind, but that’s not always the case-and a lot of the time it’s just how translation of any kind works. And that’s not even taking into account localization at all. Also, agreed. Penny is certified best girl.
