I'm convinced they fired the warlock dev(s) and secretly hired Kalamazi and THDLock. But really, all kidding aside, these changes are excellent and exactly what the other class reworks have looked like...even up there with the Ret Pally rework as they literally got rid of ALL 2 point nodes. Finally, some hope and it really looks like a lot of fun. I was gonna play something else for WoW Remix cause I was worried for TWW, but now I'm excited for warlock again and hopeful for Destro changes too. Honestly, just awesome to see real meaningful and FUN changes. And...my favorite mount and boss design...the Charhounds becoming an ability for us...oh WE ARE SO BACK.

If I’m not mistaken, they had like 3-4 class devs in general for all classes. So the guy who worked on mage could be warrior dev at the same time. This is why warlock was SO CRAP all this time and mage/priest felt amazing: because one of the devs maimed these

This Diabolist-Demonology is so good Tyrant is strong again. I love the new tree Antorus Dogs perfect, Doom looks cool for the first time ever. I'm loving all of these changes. The Destro changes we have so far looks good I can't wait to see the rest of them. Harvester-Affiction looks so good to and the Affliction talent overhaul is so good I couldn't be more happy.

I don't even play Warlock, but I enjoy having a content creator being full focus on a class with constructive feedback. Some classes either don't have a full focus creator or... for those poor shamans,have someone with very little knowledge of the class with triqqle.

I always think these talent trees, though better than the 3 column options, are generally full of filler - that is to say that pretty much all builds will take a large proportion of the nodes therefor they are there only to create the illusion of choice. It would seem easier just to make all those common talents the new baseline and add smaller trees with more impactful options.

Good wins...but i wish they just axed doom instead of making it more a part of demo. Delayed damage is never too fun to me. Love the new pets. Yet, I wish they would put a different pet in for Felguard Grimoire. That talent just being a better number felguard is boring. Immutable hatred is also boring; as a capstone, it would be cool to turn your felguard into a Fel Lord. I always love new pet variation, especially for a pet class, like they did here with vilefiend, which looks amazing.

Strongly with you on this and I’m surprised it’s not a more common critique. Grimoire should summon something else… not just another felguard. And yeah, Kala touched on it briefly how the bottom right of the tree is boring. And I think at this point that’s what needs to be looked at next.

​@VividVoid In their post, they made the passive damage talents on the right side sound like they were going to stay mostly that way to allow that damage profile, so I'm not sure if they're going to clean that up. I think Doom would fare a lot better if the Core economy wasn't being constantly trimmed (I'm really not sure why Warlock isn't allowed some additional mobility considering all 3 specs are bottom 5 iirc). If there were more cores, or they tied the duration lowering to some other metric, or made the duration shaving stronger, it'd probably feel a lot better.

I was a little concerned with the last build but was hoping they had something more radical coming to make the demonbolt change make sense. This is all extremely nice. I do think this will ultimately make demo weaker than it is now, but I don't think that's a bad thing really. My demo lock is by a long way my strongest character and just feels like it has no significant weaknesses - incredibly tanky, always moving, tons of ST and AoE damage. With this tree it seems like we'll probably have to compromise a little more between ST and AoE, closer to what most specs in the game have to do, which I think is perfectly fine and good for the game. Having less mobility from cores I also think makes sense - I'd much rather lose that mobility than survivability or damage, from a gameplay and fantasy perspective. My biggest concern at this point would be balance between different builds - they have plenty of time to sort this all out, but I think quite a lot of talents still don't do much to alter profiles and will just be a case of simming to see what you pick. At the moment it looks to me like demonbolt/hatred builds will be quite a bit weaker, especially if cores are rarer. Hard to know at this point and maybe that's the intention since it will be passive and easier to play. It's also hard to know if doom will feel good or terrible because of a lack of demonbolts. What I really hope is that they don't end up with weird balance that forces us into a sac souls/hatred build and discourages the vastly cooler talents in the tree. If they can avoid that I think this will be an incredible expansion to be a demo lock; here's hoping the other specs follow suit.

I might have missed it but will they be making changes to Affliction and Destruction class tree as well? Affliction is still sitting at 8 2 point nodes and Destruction an insane 16 2 point nodes... really hoping those get cut down.

the issues is, this was like the 2-3x the devs initially made very bad changes, and it took an community outrage and other classes laughing at us, to revert and come up with something fun. we will have this in few patches agin, i call it. Otherwise great to see, 1min tyrant base is great, i wanna see 1min infernal base, its more fun

I would be surprised if they keep the Demo tree without any 2 point talents. Seems like a temporary pre-balance state until they figure out which talents and where to place 2 pointers. Still awesome changes though.

This is a very solid rework for Demo that I am largely happy with, but there is some notable janky pathing issues: a) You can grab the Mark of Shatug / F'harg and The Houndmaster's Gambit without grabbing Vilefiend b) You can grab Shadowtouched without taking Wicked Maw or Foul Mouth I also think Pact of the Imp mother should be moved to be accessible without needing to take Umbral Blaze. IMO Sac Souls and Pact of the Imp mother should be swapped.

Being honest it is very bittersweet to see these quick changes for Demo meanwhile Affliction has been suffering with Malefic Rapture for years. You can see the objective raid participation of Aff fall consistently since it's release and I wish they would can it. It's very obvious that won't be happening for the launch of The War Within at a minimum, but there is no other item on my warlock wishlist than to have this ability removed or reworked into a DoT.

The tooltip of 'Pact of the Ered'ruin' says cast 5 doom bolts. It doesn't mention it's a doom bolt volley like it is live. But in your combat showcase, it's clearly a doom bolt volley. So the Doomguard will deal AOE damage and not single target, like it is live right now?

Still seems pretty lackluster when compared to other classes like Mages who get access to most of their kit baseline while also being extremely mobile with almost as much utility as warlock anyway. Im convinced with their design philosophy on demonic core economy they just don't play their own game. It doesn't matter how tanky you are if you can't stand in a mythic raid mechanic without still getting one-shot 90% of the time, they want to keep warlock stuck in classic era design with modernized raid mechanics.

I love that other players are gonna get to see the hounds, lol. Melee are going to hate them. And in respect to making us more turret like again, I'm fine with it. I wish they would bring back at least one fight that needed a lock tank as a viable strategy. I like when a tank dies in a fight and I can keep the fight going to win.

They did a lot of changes to aff so far...but no where close to what demo is getting. Which, hey, I like pet classes better so by all means, but it is odd given how taped together and disjointed affliction feels. Like survival, it feels like a bandaid spec limping along to each expansion: it can be viable if the numbers are tuned well, but it doesn't feel well-designed.

the destro change is meh to me, just spawning more demons, feels like building an imp army. Destro was always more the type to rely on their own power, not have their demons do the work for them like a demo lock, even to the point of sacrificing them to further bolster your own power. the current destro uses the infernal not so much for it to do damage but to empower yourself and launch nuke chaos bolts and rain of fires.

You know, the new Vilefiends not getting Tyrant extensions is probably a consequence of the Tyrant whitelist. It would be a good time to re-open free conversation about reverting the white list (and uncap imps)
