A nice review. I've had a pair of LP-6s for nearly 2 years now and love them. I was planning to move up to the IN-8s, but now I'll have to get the 2nd wave version. KALI has really got their game together!

George .. I have been a fan since the first video you put up .. but this video takes you to a new plateau .. your ability to explain difficult concepts is brilliant. I am a teacher and have always said that what makes a great teacher is their ability to make the complex simple. Therefore, you are a great teacher. Hey George, i just clicked through two of your most recent videos and noticed that you are still using the LP6 speakers, instead of the here presented IN-8 V2. Did you had to send the IN8 back to Kali after you made this video, or did you decide to still use the LP6 for other reasons? Since i am interested in buying either of those speaker, i'd love to hear your insight on what you think about them in direct comparison, since you had them both. Thank you!

I checked specs and these only go down to 45khz bass which is much less bass than predecessor original in8 which was 37khz, so they’ve just reduced bass don’t see how that’s an improvement, even the iloud mtms go down to 40khz

Hi George! Thank you so much for a great review. I loved it! I especially appreciate that you went through all the vital information and specs, as well as some deeper insights about Kali's engineering of the speakers. I also really appreciated that you gave your own honest opinon about these speakers, and related that opinion to your experience from listening to much bigger and more expensive systems. This is very often lacking (or almost always lacking) in other reviews. People sometimes seem a little afraid of revealing too much about what they actually think, and most often leave it to the viewer/listener to decide what they think. In my opionon though, that's more of a showcase kind of video, and not really a review. So I'm very glad that I found your channel. I've subscribed of course, both to support you and to watch more of your future content. I'm actaully going to upgrade my studio with the IN-8 W2s as well, so your review was really timely and kind of gave me the last bit of info I neded to make a final decision. Best wishes and warm greetings from Sweden! / Daniel Vållberg, Addictive Tracks LTD

@@ThirdFret Hi George, my pleasure really. Yes, it's going to be very interesting to compare the Kali's with my BX8s that I've been using the last 8 years (I now it's going to be a great leap forward), as well as to other high budget systems I've had opportunity to listen to in the past. I'll let you know as soon as I've tried them out. All the best, Daniel

@@ThirdFret That's good to hear. First I considered the In-5 model, but when V2 In-8 came out, I thought a better choice so I can get lower bass response. The only reason I have not bought them yet as I just spent $3000 US on a Presonus StudioLive 32S model mixer, so I'm waiting a while to recoup a bit. I was also spending time looking for a 3 way Passive monitor to see if I wanted to go that route as I already own a very nice Hafler Power amp, but I can't seem to find any 3-Way Passives for a decent price. I thought that, fortunately I have quite a large room, but to get the best from the IN-8s, you do need to be 1m+ away from them which is certainly a consideration. The IN-5s allow you to be much closer, although I haven't used these myself. But either way, you can't go wrong with the LP-6s anyway, thank you so much for watching!

I'm moving from a pair of Mackie HR824s into doing spatial audio, was planning to use the LP6s. Man was I REALLY disappointed in the LP6s, transient response missing so much from music I'm very familiar with. I'm hoping the IN8s will be more comparable with my HR824s (which are older than you!) - man do I feel old!

@allank.82183 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. I actually disagree about the concept of a musical experience. I love listening to transparent listening environnments better than coloured ones. As I keep improving my monitoring area, the more I want to just listen to music in there. (which may distract me from work)

For me is the same. No music producer here, but I'm buying these In-8s just to hear music.
@spdcrzy Жыл бұрын
Same. I want to hear music as flat as possible and as clear as possible with no distortion. If the music itself was mixed badly, then my speakers will show that, and I'll know to avoid that kind of music in the future. A wire with gain is what an amp should be, and an ear with gain is what a speaker should be.
@ericchang7759 Жыл бұрын
Agree, but there is a monitoring philosophy that seeks sacrificing a little beauty of listening for monitors that bring out the flaws of a mix. Kali’s still bring out details but do it in a much more pleasing way. This has been my experience with In-5 v2.

good video but if you write: This video is not a sponsorship or paid promotion, Please make clear if you get them for free which means it's a paid promotion as gear has also value. Many KZbinrs in the music tech world follow these. KZbin's own "paid promotion" includes free gear from companies. Cheers and continue with these videos :)
@ThirdFret3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out. I really didn't think that it constituted as paid promotion as KALI didn't specifically ask me to make a video. But having read the updated KZbin guidelines around the topic, I've added a banner. Thank you :)

Excellent, informative and high quality review. Despite being based on speakers gifted by Kali I'm convinced by what was said,so I'm going to buy these, guess what, to just listen to music (I usually listen at no more than 2m away). Great review, I got my IN-8's today and WOW they're fantastic, hearing all kinds of things in my mixes I've never heard before too :-)... Only one thing I noticed and you may have noticed this too is compared to my other monitors I switch between I need to turn up the +6db knob on the back of the Kali's and even then, where my Yamaha MSP7's volume is typically at 11 O'clock, when I swtich to the Kali's they're very low compared and need to turn them way up to like 1-2 O'clock to get the same volume... Have you noticed this also?
@Boleskinebeatz2 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue with my Adam Audio T8Vs.. had to increase the gain by 18dB to match the Presonus Eris7s. That said and done they are great now.
@adammusic11242 жыл бұрын
@@Boleskinebeatz Yeah I think it's just a matter of gain matching them, I did ask Kali Audio directly and they said it was preferrable not to turn up the volume at the back as it introduces noise but it did work better than before, I think they just need a fair bit of juice to run them optimally. They're amazing monitors the Kali V2 IN-8's I was lucky to get my hands on them with the matching sub love them. I would've gone for Adams if I didn't go for Kali's.
