I used to memorise vocab by using flashcards... but now I just repeat the word over and over again with the translation next to it until it is ENGRAVED in my head I also try to make sentences with the new words in my head and on paper so that I dont forget the word
@yoonminly84404 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Seoul yes. I do find the background behind words and how they are supposed to be used. If I dont know the correct usages of the word, my speaking would ovbiously be awkward. And I do have to memorise them over and over in order for them to be in my brain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@yoonminly84404 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Seoul Thank you for offering, but I dont want to feel like a bother to you. Also, no I'm not fluent in korean
@yoonminly84404 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Seoul if memorizing is temporary, then how do people communicate? I memorise vocabulary and grammars but i also use what i know whether it is speaking, writing, or reading so that I don't forget what is in my memory. Maybe my explanation was wrong(?).... i dont know.

@Kevin Seoul you have a good point (abiut children learning how to speak). Honestly, I though that studying, memorizing, and constantly using the grammar/vocabulary (as well as speaking) was effective as well. I knew that reading, speaking, listening, writing, and conversation was important but I mostly used memorizing, studying, and sometimes conversation because it worked best for me. But Thank you .👍 I'm 15

do you have any tips for grammar memorization?? 😭😭
@alysimone4 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Repetition is very important, but I think it’s more important to break sentences down. That way you can replace words and create lots of sentences using the same grammar point.
@yoonminly84404 жыл бұрын
When you read a blog or lesson, just quickly summarize the grammar. Dont be writing long sentences and paragraphs because then, you will forget. This is usually how I write grammar notes on paper: *(Grammar word thingy)* •This means _______ •It is used when _______ •(example sentences)
@rensvh984 жыл бұрын
I agree with Aly and YoonMinly. It’s best if you write down what it is and when it’s (most commonly) used, and then make a couple of example sentences. Even better if you create them yourself and have them get checked by a Korean native rather than just blindly copying the examples given in the textbook, video or website.
@cptnsvh4 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Seoul well i am not distinctly learning from her, i've been learning korean on my own for 2 months, but no one around me is from korea and speaks fluent korean. it's hard to find someone like that, so it's more convenient to ask someone who's been learning the language for their tips and tricks to see how they learned it.
@rensvh984 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Seoul While it's amazing to have a new language be taught to you by a native speaker, it's also super useful and handy to look at non-natives who have become somewhat proficient in that language. I'm Dutch and I know my language inside and out, but I couldn't tell anyone how to get a better grasp of our grammar or how to memorize vocabulary efficiently. People who have gone through a lot of effort to learn a language can give you some really useful tips based on their personal language learning journeys. And everyone is different so those tips won't work for everyone, but that's fine. There's lots of other resources out there.

Your Korean is excellent! The first sentence is though... a bit misleading to native ears. (1) Because of 주다 verb = to give (something/some action) FOR someone e.g. Teacher taught us. 선생님이 가르쳐 주시다(o) Teacher came late. 선생님이 늦게 오시다 (o) 선생님이 늦게 와 주시다. (x) * 주시다 came from the verb "to give" 주다 + honorific particle "시" in the middle. ( *Don't use '시' for yourself ) (2) Please note English "feeling sorry" don't align with Korean "미안해요" You do say "미안해요" when you did something wrong. 미안해요. --> common honorific: use this to someone at your age or younger to say " I am sorry.(I did something wrong)" more honorific "I am sorry" --> 죄송해요 for someone older I am sorry I came late. (늦게 와서 미안해요.) * no '시' for my own action! I am sorry you came late. (if you=older than I) We don't express my feeling in this case. It is better to say 보고 싶었어요(I missed you), 반가워요(happy to see you)... all depends on the circumstances.
