Sorry bud that sound is 100% the pilot bushing in the end of the crank. Not a throw out bearing. Cutting the input shaft might help until it wears that part of the bushing out. Odds are your trans adapter is not seated flush and is pushing against the input shaft so it isn't spinning centered

I was thinking exactly the same thing bro. I had exactly the same sound on my S14 and it was my pilot bearing in the crank. If it keeps happening it may very well be the adapter kit. Im currently doing a CD009 swap on my Chaser and I went with the Serial Nine kit, maybe look into them if you need a different adapter kit 👍🏽

is there a pilot bearing in there? not familiar with the setup, but if you have bluing on the shaft, it would be safe to say the pilot saw some heat as well and brass gets brittle after heating.

@5:20 as mentioned in an earlier video that has to be greased and the inside of the pilot bushing needs to be greased as well as those spin freely of eachother. If not greased the metal on metal will cause that noise you heard.

Hey just a heads up don't put a lot of weight on the concrete blocks when you stand them up like that cause the holes in them are supposed to be facing up and down for strength and structure so if you stand them up they can break if you put a lot of weight on it and it has happened to me before. Luckily I didn't get hurt but I would hate to see it happen to someone else.

Sry man the vvti crank is identical, there are spacers that differ from auto to manual that go behind the flexplate.... Did you replace your spigot bush after you went through that bs?

a bad TOB will make noise just when the clutch is pressed. It does not need to be in gear to make noise. this is pilot bushing.

Why didn't you address the pilot bushing it was completely wore upward? looks like the adapter plate wasn't aligned correctly or the bell housing casting was off.

Yeah I noticed that while editing actually. I’m think the plate is tweaked. I took the trans to a trans shop to have it checked internally and they put the plate on. Maybe it’s not exactly where it should be.

I'm really surprised that the throwout bearing was the cause... normally when you disengage or depress the clutch the throw out bearing will it make its noise not when you go to put it in gear. If your transmission clutch Etc makes noise when you go to put it in gear that's normally a sign that the bearings in the transmission are the issue. Hope that's the actual fix.

Usally there is a pilot bushing in there keeps trans locked into center of crankshaft so doesn’t shake and so on..

sorry i call BS, big time...VVTI and NON VVTI all the same.. Why did the Pilot bearing take a Dump ??? Cause the spigot Shaft is running a bit off center... A bit out on the allurement with the adapter... And you can take the gearbox out again cause that was not your wisest move to cut it... gearbox will fail just a matter off when....

I've heard issues with the auto sport adapter kits. It's either install error or manufacturing flaw. It has nothing to do with the crank. They are the same.

@@killer809829 I agree 100% I feel like he may have went in knowing this and maybe was ok with a little massaging to make work. But I have never heard a bad thing about Collins. I have their adapter plate (the non cut) that fits my 2j to the z32 trans or the cd009. The issue is that the z32 is a v6 configuration and putting an inline it pushes the trans back and the tunel isn't designed for it to sit so far back. You have to knock the tunel in some areas. I may just sell my adapter plate and run the Collins half cut kit for the CD. I will also probably get the serial nine shifter to put the shifter exactly where it needs to be for the 2jz32 swap.

I know the guy that sells those adapter plates and I can 100% confirm that they are copies of Collins kit. That said it is known to give people all kinds of issues. I my self have the Collins kit and have no issues. Just pointing that out.

Have you checked the potential of crank walk?... not usually an issue on a 2jz... but might explain why its moving into the input shaft.. especially if everything else checked out and the "grind" sound was intermittent

That annoying chatter is comming from that cheap ass throw out bearing internal slave cylinder that autosports engineering sells. I have the same kit and mines sounded like a damn tractor, extremly embrassing to drive. Just jiggle the ring on the throw out you will hear exactly what I'm talking about, you should have replaced it with a Luk t56 csc supposedly its the same manufacture for gm cars, the oem one is made by AP i bought mines for only $50, dont bother going to chevy there going to charge you $250 same exact part, but Google it you will see there is a big quality difference, everything is sealed noting loose or vibrates, even the ring in the front has nice round tappered edges that doesn't grind into your fly wheel like those cheap garbage ones.
