MAESTRO ILAYARAJA has composed umpteen songs in EACH raagam across multiple GENRES, covering a wide spectrum of emotions. In KalyaNi alone (Yaman), he has 50+ SONGS (+ his Background scores). At any time, somebody is only wetting his leg in the ocean! Singer Hariharan, referring to Amma endrazhaikkaadha song, said "The way Ilayaraja conceived raaga Yaman is beautiful. What a composition! Applause". IR compositions in Kalyani / Yaman are as phenomenal as Mannavan vandhaanadi thozhi by KVM.

I do appreciate the current Government (though for sel-fish reasons, but then, politics is politics all over the world), at the least, had the awareness to award the MOST DESERVING person in India, with a Padma Vibhushan and named him as honorary member of Parliament, while the previous ones did not even a clue, or bothered about IR and his music! It is the Government that should be proud / feel honored to honor the RAREST GENIUS of the nation, not vice versa. Remember that Janani janani was composed in 1982 that made even veteran actress/singer Bhanumathi comment "You are not an ordinary film composer"! The album also featured veteran singers like BMK, MSV, Sirgaazhi singing for IR. The song Isai arasi is still being sung in competitions when contestants want to prove their mettle.

‘not’ missing. GR had been handling Kalyani frequently. Kaveri, Puthumaipithan, Chakra. Thirumagal, Deivathin Deivam and so on. It’s sad that GR is not mentioned.
