Before heading to London for his rematch against Leon Edwards, the UFC former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman invited Ryan, Channing and Fred to sit down with him at his training in his final preparation before heading into enemy territory to reclaim his welterweight crown at UFC 286 this Saturday.
In a stunning and unexpected loss this past August against Leon, Kamaru was dominating the entire match until Leon landed a kick to his head that knocked the Nigerian Champion out and gave Leon a come-from-behind upset victory.
Never experiencing such an outcome, it was a struggle at first to rewatch it but Kamaru talks about the hardest part was seeing his daughter sad which in turn altered his mindset reminding him he needs to show her it’s ok to fall once in awhile but getting back up is what matters.
With many worried that the mental toll of the loss and gravity of it is something difficult to overcome, Kamaru isn’t concerned with that part and confidently says that he knows who he is and what he’s capable of and needs to remind Leon who he is, a fighter that was down the entire time and dying on inside and got lucky landing one move.
Refocused and more than ready, Kamaru understands the stakes this bout offers and is ready mentally and physically to regain his spot atop the ufc world.
The final match of the trilogy match between Leon and Kamaru is this Saturday on ESPN+.

Inspector Butters
Inspector Butters 2 ай бұрын
@Nathan Drive LordKingAlwaysRight ur not wrong, and me calling it a "miracle" may be exaggerating a bit tbf, bc Leon was setting that kick up the whole fight. I just think the body language and the way Leon looked so frustrated between rounds 4-5 we all assumed it was over, but credit to him bc he never quit and huge shoutout to Jon Anik on that call right before the kick!! "Seems like hes done, but that's not the cloth from which hes cut"...... BOOM headshot KO. It was an insane moment and one I'll never forget watching, lol especially Kamaru out cold with his eyes wide open..... that shit was freaky looking 🤣

I Appreciate Usman talking about high school wrestling and his maturation from that era to where he is now begins a lot of young men, the opportunity to evolve and see progression as they endeavor into UFC as well as the MMA field Also, why has all the fighters that have been guest on the show lost when they competed?
Wal Abok
Wal Abok 2 ай бұрын
One of the best interviews: 1) for the hosts and guest, and 2) because it's one of the first times that the lens is on the aftermath of a loss. Usman does a good job of maturely explaining what happens after a loss. There's much more to learn from defeats than from successes. Thumbs up and God bless!

I wonder how many wins does it take till the majority of people want a dominant fighter to lose? I remember when it started to happen to GSP before he had his long lay off before he fought for the middleweight belt and I remember when it was slowly happening to Anderson Silva before he lost to Weidman the first time and I even remember when it was slowly happening to Jon Jones before he went on multiple layoffs due to his outside activities.

The eerie thing is, usman stopped the reign of woodley, who was 36 at the time and had distractions. Everyone expected woodley to win. Edwars stopped usman , who was 36, who also had distractions and was overlooking the fight, such as boxing canelo, moving up division, acting. Everyone expected usman to win. Then the world was shocked. Funny how life works out.

Very powerful. What alot of people might miss about this extremely entertaining sport is that each competitor is a unique individual living their life in order to go through the exact experience Allah has planned for them to bring fulfilment to ours souls purpose. It’s not about the people watching for entertainment although they can learn a lot about themselves through the inspiration from champions. It’s about the personal battle of their own life.

If the dude in green track ask all the questions, Usman might opt for suicide. His questions are deep, emotional and psychologically bloody. The light skin guy keep bringing him up whenever he went that down. I love the way they are mixing things up. They went to Usman's deepest part just to unveil the true him. My most emotional part was when his daughter was brought him. Tears rolled down his face. I wish him victory. He deserves everything.

Ryan Clark. I have been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan since I moved to America from Africa. I skipped my first day of class second semester to stay home and watch the Steelers win the 2008 seaon Super Bowl. One of the greatest moments as a fan aside from 2005 season Superbowl. Go Steelers. But I am from West Africa. Izzy already lost the Crown after Pivot. Francis is gone. But if Kamaru doesn't get that strap back, I am the biggest Pivot fan but don't do the next interview the week of the fight. Go West Africa. Fo Kamaru. All Love. Keep Living in Power, Ryan. You need to lose sometimes. It’s to humble you. Sometimes it’s the best thing that can happen to you. It causes you to reflect. To dig deeper. To really think about what you are and where you need to be. That way when you return…you have a whole new appreciation for what was lost. One day Daddy won’t be there (we’re human after all). And his daughter will learn that she has to fight through it. It doesn’t matter if Usman wins the next fight. What matters is that he *ACCEPTS* the fight! She will see that. And it’ll always be encouraging. Anybody can beat up the body. But not anybody can beat up the spirit.

Hearing his story on this and other videos, I realize he’s been through a lot and beat the odds to be the champ. I see Kamaru by decision. The kick was the biggest Hail Mary.
