Maybe not te best song to introduce Roy Khan's voice. I'd recommend Elizabeth, Forever or Memento Mori (if you're up for an existential crisis) far more complex songs so you can pay the due bow to one of the best signers in the genere. Also, this particular ballad is part of the Ariel saga. Ariel makes a pact with Mephisto (Devil) who uses some girl (Simmone) to trick Ariel into thinking she is the love of his life (Helena). That saga is a progresive melodic power metal master piece inspired on Goethe's Faust that spans two discs, you should check it out.

Honesty is good... but... not sure what it says to dislike Roy Khan's voice.... normally, I'd recommend Q-tips.... :P But still rather have you be honest (even if wrong ;) ) than one of those channels that "likes everything for clicks".

I love this song to bits, but I do admit that it's not the best one to display Roy's amazing vocals. I always recommend listening to Elizabeth I, II & III. Because, wow. Forever is also a great one, more catchy than the Elizabeth trilogy and shorter as far as length goes too, hehe. Roy and Simone's voice meld together really good, though! I love every song they have ever sang together, like Trois Vierges for Epica, this one, Poetry for the Poisoned (part II and III of the song, I think? Part I female vocals were Amanda Somerville if I'm not mistaken) and House on a Hill (I love that one to bits, uuuugh). I can understand liking Tommy's vocals better if you only have this song to compare to (I don't have favourites, both are amazing, different styles of singing, also Roy's voice is warmer and Tommy's is lighter, so different vibe too, and Roy has that THING with how he sings and then Tommy has those gorgeous high notes that are smooooooth and... yeah I'll stop now xD )
@Immortall14083 жыл бұрын
Actually, the first song that you heard from Kamelot is from the same album "Black Halo" as this one. Roy contributed vocally to one of Epica´s songs "Trois Vierges" (from the second album "Consign to Oblivion"), which is left largely forgotten. Both albums came out in 2005. Personally, I never found Roy´s diction to be particularly clear. I suppose there is the issue whether or not everybody can like a particular timbre of voice. But I guess that what you can see here most of all in this performance that some lead singers are just so used to singing solo that they are unable then to sing well with somebody else in a duet, for instance.

@@MatandChelsReact Maybe you should try their voices together again, but this time with Epica's musical composition. A beautiful ballad "Trois Vierges" featuring Roy Khan of Kamelot: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKKQe5eho72mqpI I really believe Simone's operatic vocals in this will give you goosebumps! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Epica ballads are incredibly good. Spoiler alert: it's orchestral, no electric guitars.

chelsea - if you need a song/duet to satisfy your harmonization needs, i have to recommend "Carry the Flame" by Unleash the Archers. its like a power ballad, but the vocals and guitars are out of this world imo. on a side note: im glad im not the only one who is a bit underwhelmed the vocals from roy in this video. honesty is always appreciated, whether its what people wanna hear or not.
@redfielduniverse3 жыл бұрын
I also think that Apex and Legacy are great songs for harmonizing too. I heard multiple vocal coaches say they are great for harmonizing. Carry the Flame is not a more popular song so most like they would do one of the one's that I suggested. But it's always great to have a less reacted to song reacted to. Like Return to Me is so good but nobody reacts to it.

@@redfielduniverse yes these are good choices too, legacy especially imo. i hope they do those two songs along with carry the flame (and return to me) because CTF is so overlooked but i wont be surprised if they dont

@@magicmicah27 I also think that they only do patreon request so someone on patreon would have to request it. They take into account the comments but I don't know. I hope they do all the songs but it's all matter of when. They may do it during a live stream, they may do it as a normal reaction, we'll just have to wait and see.

It's funny how you liked Tommy's vocals for Kamelot when he actually sticks very closely to what Roy Khan did in his years with Kamelot lol. If you were to check out Tommy with Ayreon or his other band Seventh Wonder you'll see he seems to let go a bit more. I ADORE Roy's voice but music is subjective and what I may like, you perhaps won't, plus this performance and song isn't one of Kamelot's best. Easier said than done - but ignore the hate and continue being true to yourselves. 🤘

Here is a man with a magic voice who fell victim to his own fame. He missed his love and child so much that he had to quit his career to be with them. NOTE: If you want to be a Rockstar, Be single and stay that way. Fame will keep you too busy to have a family. You either want fame, or you suffer the time away from loved ones to attain it. Fame is a singular passion. So understand that if fame is your goal. It is a loveless life but if music is your love you will be fine. Can you live out of suitcases, buses, and crappy motels for 20 yrs? Can you stand the touring and obligations of a record contract? Can you take being broke for many years waiting for that one album that will hit and finally pay you? Can you suffer the stress and B.S. that is the Rock and roll life style? If so, you will make it big. If not, don`t bother.

It's good to be honest. I'm personally am not the biggest fan of his vocals. I think as a whole the Symphonic Metal fanbase is very toxic. Don't take this the worth way, I love Symphonic Metal but the fans here are too toxic. If you look at the comments on videos of people who don't like the song or have just one flaw with it, they lose their minds. Like for example, Floor is a great singer but I think she needs to address her fans. Her fans literally cyberbully most people for having a differing opinions. I've been on the receiving end but I said I prefer Simone's vocals over Floor's. Also the constant fight about who's better Tarja or Floor. Like their both great why are you comparing. If Floor fans want to get technical all they got to do is look and at record sales. Despite her fans saying she is the best, and all these reaction videos passing her, Floors era is making the least amount of money, less than Anette's era. Personally I like Anette, it's poppy but it works for the songs. People compare the singers of Arch Enemy with Jinjer all the time too. Like can we not appreciate the music we love and not be hated for it. I think a lot of these Nightwish reactions are of people being fake and not being honest with their viewers. I like that you guys are honest, ok this video didn't do it for you but no reason for fans to throw a fit about it. You have a different opinion, that's good, we are all human.
@tomingejosefsen3 жыл бұрын
You forget one thing, tho. Almost all recordsales are down the past 10-15 years, not just Nightwish'. If one account for downloads and cybersales too one will get a more accurate number. I do agree on the bully thing, its really bad.
@jaapblaauw37353 жыл бұрын
True..those so called ' fans' are not open for a different opinion then their own let alone say something negative about their favourite artist.
@redfielduniverse3 жыл бұрын
@@tomingejosefsen But you can tell as well that Floor's era in general is not gaining as many fans as KZbin makes it look. The most streamed the song, contrary to popular belief is not Ghost Love Score but the studio recording of Amaranth. That's Anette's song. It's not even the Wacken version or anything, it's the studio. So as much hate as Anette gets, she has the most popular songs out of all the three.
@redfielduniverse3 жыл бұрын
@@jaapblaauw3735 I personally think at this point, Floor just needs to confront her fans about the bully that is going on in the community. Metal is supposed to be a safe environment for others and it's no because fans are being bullied go having a different opinion. Why can we all just listen to music together and appreciate it all without having to compare? Can we all just appreciate music and all the Musicians out there that pit it together without tearing others down.
@cancelled_user3 жыл бұрын
@@redfielduniverse I think the sales or streaming number don't really mean that one singer is better than other. Amaranth is a poppy catchy song that any mainstream listener can listen any time. GLS is literally like a score, which is not for a mainstream listener. I've heard reactors who can't listen to choirs, others can't listen to operatic voices, other can't handle growls. So it's mostly about songs that are simple and have a good hook. Those sell to millions. I believe you don't think Justin Bieber is even better if he sells even more CDs.

I share your conclusion. I also thought the chemistry between the two was not really good. Only professional. I think if they are on stage together, then you should also be on stage together. 1. It seemed to me as if Simone's Micro was turned down more than his own. She seemed like a backround singer to him. 2. The two are not really on the same high, he pushes himself closer to the audience and in the foreground and Simone is either behind him, completely apart or prefers the guitarist. 3. Simone left the stage very quickly. No one word (I think she noticed that something didn't go right) 4. At one point where they touch hands, it seemed as if Simone had to bow submissively to the king, instead of being based on reciprocity. This is of course all subjective. It could also all have been perfect and my senses clouded by the fact that I hate it when he almost smooches his micro while singing. So strangely buried his face in it (4:41). I don't know him, but he looks very arrogant in this performance. The song itself is great. I also have it in my playlist. I just don't like to look at it.
