Doing this question and answer along with the entire convention was fun. Kamon was brilliant and kept things light. I wonder if Byran heard the bus coming.

Great chat. I made double screen boards that are also bee escape boards. I don't know how many times they have allowed me to grow when I was short on equipment. It lets you have 2 colonies with 1 bottom and top board. It is notched for an entrance, but turned over and placed on top, you have a top entrance. This is great during the flow, then drop it under the supers for an escape, and returning bees still have their top entrance

Bob may have more experience and more knowledge and is better looking (LOL) but Kamon's videos are so helpful to hobbyist and sideliners. You two are a great combination and I am always excited when either of you two put out a new video. Thanks guys.

I would have liked to have been there! What would be cool is to let Bob actually show the different configurations of using a double screened bottom board at Hive Life conference in January. Have empty hive boxes of all kinds to explain the ways to use them. After the demonstration set up everything as a display at the conference.

Look at the original Snelgrove board and the way he used those entranceS for swarm control.. or for "stealing" worker bees from the top colony for a short flow. I use it for queen over wintering.. two 4 frame colonys over a strong one.

To the lady that ask what to do after you get your bees and they are installed. Let them be for a week, after that get in your bees once a week to see if the bees are bring in nectar. once they are add a second box. Then let them go for a couple weeks, assuming you are starting the 2nd with new foundation. After the second week lift the second box or go in and see how much they have collected. If it only has 3 or 4 frames of foundation left for them to draw out add a 3rd box. Depending on your area and the nectar flow continue this process. And around the first of July you should have some honey to extract. Keep in mind you also need to stay ahead of them with space to keep them from swarming.

Can you put a drone frame in your bee hive and pull it out in August and put in the freezer to kill the drones and mites before you treat the hive for mites?

I have a question, What should you do if someone that wants bees but never takes the time to learn anything about what it takes to bee a keeper of bees.
@kamonreynolds
@kamonreynolds 3 жыл бұрын
I personally avoid those type of people like the plague. Whether it is beekeeping or not. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. There are plenty of new beekeepers who want to learn about the right ways to keep bees and are willing to put forth the effort so I don't waste time on those who happily waste my time and effort.
