Same. I have to bring stuffed animals with me to hotels and place them around the bed where my babies would normally curl up with me or I can’t sleep. And I have my roommate send me pictures so I know everything is okay. I sleep on the couch at home in the living room where I keep all the pet stuff. Beds, litter boxes, food and water areas are all set up in “pet central”. I do that so I can have prolonged quiet time to listen to everyone breathe at the specific times when any congestion is going to be the most prevalent. My roommate can’t do that so I always worry.

Ok the little creep of tortoises all coming to his feet is gotta be the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time, well besides slinky always going up and climbing up Kenan you can see the love just flowing out of all his animals. Yes I did look up what a group of tortoises is called and it is a creep and a group of turtles is called a bale. Knowledge for me is everything, I just love learning random facts that have no reason being in my head (specially because I have never had any type of reptile I had fish once but that’s it and they are nothing like what Kenan has.)

I absolutely have missed my animals when I had to leave them. I was a truck driver and sometimes only gone overnight. We did a small unofficial rescue and at one time I had a greyhound and an American doberman, they would pin me to the couch whenever I got home and laid down for a minute, LoL. Loved 'em all! My mom found a tortoise in our neighborhood and it was very old, maybe over 50 years old we think back in the early 80’s living in our backyard in Hollywood, ca. In a tiny yard eating vegetables and fruit scraps that’s it. And she would come to me when I was sunbathing and sit next to me and when she was hungry she would go to the backdoor and wait for food. My dad or mom who were elderly would feed her. She was the best and friendliest tortoise. I loved her. Now my mom would hibernate her in the winter (in Los Angeles which is not cold at all but she would still do this every winter) with a big box and old blankets and this went on for over 30 years until my parents died. Then my sister took the tortoise to her house and she has wrecked havoc to her foundation digging. She’s still living and going strong. Eating only scraps and is probably over 60-70 years old in Los Angeles

The kids being older makes the trip fun. If you see something on the road that is an animal you can yell it at the kids, and they can play a game with you.

I love seeing all the sulcatas and them chowing down on the cactus is awesome! Anyone have a recommendation on where to buy and how to grow my own spineless nopales cactus like Kenan has? No nurseries in my area, socal, have spineless cactus for sale :(

I was thinking that my tortoise’s mouth looked kind of pale. But your look the same. Makes me feel better. My box turtles look very pink. I do miss my pets when I’m gone. I will finely be taking a week with my hubby. First time in about 2 years.

I have a 10 year old African spurred sulcata who loves apples and sweet potatoes. I only give these to her once in a while as a treat.
