PIKE FISHING: Ultra Fast vs Slow Retrive 🐢🐇 (UNEXPECTED RESULT!)

When fishing for pike one of the most underrated factor is the retrieval speed. This means; how fast you reel in your bait. Sometimes the best thing is to speed it up, and the other time it is a better idea to slow it down. But if you fish two identical baits, one retrieving as fast as possible and the other as slow as possible, which teqnique would win?
Team Hajmat with Mille Pettersson and Pontus Sjölund could not stop thinking about it, so they decided to go out on the water and put that theory to the test. They fished with identical Blastershads from Fiiish in two very different speeds and the result was rather unexpected...
Thanks for taking the time to watch this episode, we will be back very very soon with more spicy episodes.
You can get the Blastershad and all the other gear in the video here:

You should definitely do this again in really cold conditions. What I've found out is you should fish at crawling speeds when water temp is below 4 degrees Celsius. 12 degrees is pretty optimal for pike so no need to slow things down.

Would be super interesting if you could try this out in winter again. Hadn´t thought about it as well... Usually the person who reels the slowest catches the biggest pike but not aöways the most. But that difference in number is totally crazy! Need to test it here in Germany if i want to catch a smaller pike fast because there is not much time for fishing. Tight lines !!!

Would have been a better test if you fished same colour baits one with fast retrieve and one slow ?

Nice episode! ;-) Just a thought. Wouldn’t you say the number of casts is another aspect to why fast retrieving got more pikes? (You will get in more casts per hour). So if you should do the exact same number of casts. Would it differ that much? ;-)

If you watch a pike take a bait, they usually burst at it with very high speed even if they've been following it out of curiosity. They have no problem with fast retrieves. The question is more whether the pike is ready to ambush the prey, has seen the lure, and if it is interested in eating or striking at it.
