Hey guys welcome to Day 2 of Kinksmas! In today's video I'm getting a professional trim. Let me know what other videos you want to see during kinksmas :)

I only went to a professional once since I started my natural hair journey, in the begining of this year I went for a blowout and trim before putting braids. I recently bought the Tymo hairbrush and i'll use it after a blowout. I would like to see the results of that brush on your hair.

Since I last commented I went to the salon for a cut and it was 100% worth it. People have been telling me for a long time that this and that can repair split ends to the point where my split ends went up about 3-5inches, that I look good with long hair and not to ever cut it and I had to cut it off! I'm so happy that I got my hair cut. Whether you choose to clip your ends or get a cut healthy hair is everything! Fewer tangles, fewer knots, fuller hair, and more curl definition, definitely worth it, I promise.
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
People tell me not to trim/cut and I'm like I can't handle the tangles! The salon I go to was closed in November so all the days before Christmas was fully booked up. I just self trimmed yesterday and my trim appointment is 28 December.. If they don't shut us down again.

Yeah I'm on a 6 week trimming schedule. I was trying to stretch to like 10 - 12 weeks but the tangles and the knots drive me crazy. Also I September I went a little too crazy on my sub-tropical one week escape so my hair got damaged. So I booked 6 weekly trims but here in London the Corona won't let me be great and keep closing the salon so this week, I did a self trim because this is week 6 on the schedule and I'm not finna to deal with tangled knotted hair at Christmas. Nope not and no. Lol!

Your hair looks so healthy, long and strong. Doesn't look like she gave you more than a "trim". I've seen some beauticians cut way too much!!
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
The thing is if you don't go regularly, don't self trim and don't supercare for your hair, then they will have to cut inches. I had a trim in August. September I went on a one week subtropical holiday but didnt pay much attention to my hair while there. November 3rd was my last trim and my stylist told my I had an inch of damage. So we treated the damage and cut half an inch. I just cut off and eigth of an inch today. My next trim is 28 December. Now I deep condition my hair weekly, short term protective style with no tension and moisturise daily. Now other Naturals be wearing their hair in a puff for a month without deep conditioning, steaming, detangling, re-moisturising and just re-apply gel on their edges and the edge of the puff. Now if they go to the stylists ever 12 weeks, the stylist might catch the damage in time and put them in a treatment programme at home and at the salon. My stylist caught my damage within 6 weeks. If they only have two trims a year and are not on top of their hair care, the stylist has got inches aka 24 weeks to cut because damage happens faster and travels up the hair strands faster than most of us can grow hair.

@@marleyhill34 How do you moisturize daily without shrinkage?What style would your hair be in to be able to moisturize daily?
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
@@mareek2007 I wear my hair in short term protective styles not affected by shrinkage. Twists, flat twists and 2 or three french braids. I shampoo weekly. I was given this regimen by my trichologists based on my hair type and scalp type.
@mareek20073 жыл бұрын
@@marleyhill34 How do you re moisturise with these styles on?Do you unravel the braids and twists when adding product or do you just place the products on top? I aim to do this but I struggle with moisturising without making the protective style frizzy. I'm gaining length but also trying to increase thickness of my hair.
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
@@mareek2007 wrapping my hair at night after moisturising reduces the frizz. Also for frizz avoid products heavy on glycerin and other humectants. I'd don't know if this will increase thickness.

Do you have Aveda salons in Italy? Try to find a curly haired stylist. They get it. My Aveda stylist is Polynesian Maori with curly hair. He asked me why I trusted him with my hair. I said "when I met you, you had curly hair!" a stylist who wears their hair curly understands the dryness and the tangles and how easily curly kinky coily hair is damaged by heat. They might not be able to give you the best style but the hair care and maintenance is very similar. I know a few black Africans who migrated to Italy with curly hair(mainly Ethiopians, Somalia and Eritreans) look for them on Instagram to see where they get their hair done. Definitely you might have to travel to Milan or Roma. If you are close to the French border, there are black hairdressing salons in Nice and Marseille so in 2 or 3 hours on the fast train you can travel between Italy and France. Just as long as you have the EU schengen visa. Or you could fly to London for the day. I've flown from Nottingham to Paris for the day. 6am Flight to Paris and the 6pm flight back. Instagram is full of stylists and salons just check their reviews first and let them know you are travelling from far so don't want to be messed about.

Does anyone know any good natural hair salons in NY?
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
New York City or New York state? Definitely check Instagram and then check reviews on Insta, Google and the registered certification. It also depends on how much you want to spend. There are plenty in The Brooklyn area of the city. Heck even Beyoncé's stylist Neal Farinah is based in Brooklyn.

@@marleyhill34 I've tried that the only results that come up are braiding salon or deva curl. I'm willing to travel anywhere in NY or NYC. You hair looks GREAT!! 😍😍 do you think when you went vegan played a part in the growth? I know one KZbinr that went vegan said her hair flourished after that. Also I found working out helps with hair growth. Maybe the blood flow?? ☺️
@daniellarodriguez18013 жыл бұрын
Good nutrition, working out, and trimming your ends play a huge role in our healthy hair journey. Going vegan doesn't necessarily mean hair growth because meat still has insane protein content and our hair NEEDS protein because that's what it's made up of. Working out and scalp massages increase blood flow and eventually growth. But remember hair is gonna grow anyway. We just need to keep an eye on our diet and stuff. Hope that helps you.
@marleyhill343 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can't go vegan. I'm a thalessemia carrier living in a cloud overcast country. My vitamin D and iron ferretin fluctuates too often and I don't feel like eating 2 pounds of spinach every day when 100 grams of beef is enough for maybe the whole week to put my levels correct. Also vegan supplements are hard to come by and expensive. My doctor had to put me on a high dose of iron and vitamin D before and I never insisted that they were vegan because they were free healthcare.
