I have never seen a kangaroo swim before and I don't recall seeing one swimming in any documentary either. I think that swimming using his tail would be very quiet and not likely to attract a Bull shark or a Crocodile. However, if either animal was in the river and within 100 metres either up stream or down stream from the Kangaroo then all bets are off. If the kangaroo swam towards where a Crocodile was sunning on the river bank, then that kangaroo is a goner. Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
