The fact that these guys need to have the skills of almost all the special forces (including seals) plus mountain climbing and civilian rescue and a lot more along with being a paramedic in the middle of a firefight is crazy
@slushyslushslushbruh Жыл бұрын
They're trained to be good at basically everything in order to be able to save as many lives as they can, and the thanks they want is to be able for them to thank the men and women they saved to come back home alive. It gives me chills knowing that this is the closest we have to modern day warrior monks, and the reward they want is to be able to see the fruits of their labor in saving lives to be a success, even at their cost of their own lives, to see men and women they rescued be able to see their family again. The altruism of the job... no wonder no one dares talk shit about PJs, because they're legitimate battlefield angels.
@jameslarsen5764 Жыл бұрын
This is completely false. Their "combat diving" is not the same diving that SEALs do and the training is different, these guys are Special Operation Rescuers/Paramedics. They don't learn maritime combat skills like SEALs, they don't learn Unconventional Warfare skills like Green Berets (aka Special Forces, which you incorrectly used to refer to all Special Operations Forces), and they don't learn raiding and direct action skills to the extent that Rangers, and all other SOF for that matter, do.

We go into battle with death itself. And it gets personal. Even decades later. The mindset you learn, will follow you long after your body gets soft. I had wanted to be a PJ my whole life since I first learned of them. I unfortunately developed health issues that made this dream impossible. I am now going to school to become a flight nurse and recently shadowed a flight nurse. When I graduate I will have the Parajumper motto on my cap “These things we do that others may live”. God Bless the men that have died to save others.

@@101Ari101 I don't know what happens currently but I just continued on into my guaranteed job in Security/ LE. Times were different back then 70s-80s.Now days they'd probably pIace you in another AFSC.I ended my USAF career w/ some special and tactical training as well as a lot of civilian training.I worked side by side on occasion with actual PJs but was never in any of their pipeline classes. I left the AF and I retired after being a LEO, firefighter/ medic, (tactical medic & flight medic included) w/ just shy of 30 years in the business and I think I did ok.

That Jessica Lynch vid blew my mind. Crazy amount of bravery for these people. Funny seeing guys in the NFL not willing to stand for the National Anthem and you got guys like this real role models and brave soldiers. This is what a real hero looks like.

@@DJgoon12 It absolitely is unpatriotic because what is says is that you don't care for a few seconds about the many that gave their lives for the country and for your freedom. This country is free but that freedom was earned. The national anthem is the only time where we can think back and appreciate your those freedoms no matter the color or background. If you want to protest go do it elsewhere.

@@DJgoon12 Its not about the day its just a special thing. Its a tradition as Americans. If you can't support your own country why even live in it. The world doesn't revolve around your feelings and the country wasn't made only for your betterment but for others and many gave their lives for it.

This is one of the things i loved from been in the service, having a team. Unfortunately my ASVAB score wasn't enough, but i had the heart and the motivation and till this day even though i never had the chance to be part of special operations i trained like one. My model is " trained like u fight, fight like you trained" alawys 100+% more on everyday task of my life. 👏cheers brother ✅

I was in AF..basic training they recruit people who may want to maybe try to join the pjs....you have to try out in order to try out, if that makes sense..a preliminary test....about 7 or 8 guys from my group who thought they were tough enough, tried out..all came back with their tails between their legs...worn out.... This is no joke, if u make it as a pararescue, u are elite...
