Kanye's 'Slow Jamz' Shoot Spirals Out of Control in "jeen-yuhs" Unreleased Clip

In creating the three-part Kanye West documentary jeen-yuhs: a Kanye Trilogy, director Coodie Simmons shot hundreds of hours of footage of West over two decades. Simmons’ exhaustive approach meant that he left plenty of footage on the cutting room floor-including this clip, presented as an exclusive by TIME. (jeen-yuhs is produced by TIME Studios, the film and television division of TIME.)
The clip takes place during the video shoot for “Slow Jamz” in 2004. At the time, West had just achieved his first major success as a solo artist: the single “Through the Wire,” which detailed the aftermath of his nearly-fatal car crash and was climbing the charts both in the U.S. and abroad. While he hoped to replicate the success of the song and its video (which was directed by West, Simmons, and Chike Ozah), the “Slow Jamz” shoot was far more tortured, plagued by creative differences, logistical problems, and financial limitations.

In the clip he basically said, "i told this lady I want xyz, 24 hours ago but she failed". Obviously, he didnt just tell her to do one thing, it was a list of things he wanted and one thing wasnt up to par with what he expected. Why throw her under the bus after he's already getting some underpaid PA underling to fulfill his demands last second. Ultimately, it was a fucking video for a song, remember that some 20 years ago? It's not like he was shooting a 100 million dollar Hollywood movie. And the video still came out shit and it wasnt because of stupid record player. And here we are, 2022, Kanye thinks he's a prophet, literally, while threatening to send goons to his ex's new boyfriend and makes, wait for it, a video about wanting to kill him. I mean, it's just proof, that if you have visions, you need to see a doctor. No actual genius is mostly busy telling others he's a genius.

Videos are still a form of filmmaking which is a director's medium. Ye stans are the most basic, blinded people. I'm a fan of his too, but he literally says "no" like a freaking baby at some point. Haha. If this an actor started doing this type of shit on a set -- even an A lister -- nobody would feel inclined to work with them again. This video is a prime example of why the industry and media acted and still act as if Kanye is problematic. He asserts his thoughts at times where many artists let a "Employee & Employer" setting take place, but Kanye puts himself as an equal or speaks out on creative control, which most directors hate. The thing that most civilians here don't understand is that Ye isn't directing the music video. It's not his vision once someone else begins directing it. He's not in any position to make demands like this. Imagine someone doing this shit to a legendary music video director like Mark Romanek. If an actor as big as Leo or Pitt started insisting on certain pieces for the art department -- especially in this manner -- they would seem loony. The song was half of Twista's anyway. This has less to do with Ye being a creative force and has more to do with him being borderline autistic...in addition to not fully understanding this process. I understand exactly what he's feeling and any type of department director, creative or team manager will. When people don't SEE AND FEEL your vision or don't really care about their job, they won't come through the way you need them to EVEN if your paying them. You have to repeat yourself over and over again to get it in their head because they're just not willing to put the effort in to understand. I think the best way to make people understand is get them to really really see and feel the vision as best you can before putting them in there to create and manage them. But how Kanye is acting isn't wrong. It's a person who believes 10000% in their creativity and vision and wants it to come to life and ppl dont do their jobs right. that's all.
