That is so true, I like Griselda but at this point I dont even get hyped for new projects because i know what its going to be before I listen. Good bars, repetitive beats and ad libs of machine gun sounds. Ive been messing with dehh for a decade and they have become very commercialized over the years and I feel like they lost some of the passion.

The beats sound the same!?!?!?!? How does Jail, sound like Remote Control, what does Moon compare to? Or Off The Grid??? The song with Lauryn Hill? Does God Breathed sound like any of the other songs? Hurricane??? They are making stuff up. I don't feel like they were paying attention to the album after making a statement like that. " the album sounds like one beat that he kept chopping up and altering slightly? " Seriously!

I have no problem with them not liking the album, music is subjective. My only thing is, Ken did not enter this album with an open mind and it's pretty clear his personal hate for Kanye intruded any partial analysis that might have been added to a review. Ken doesn't mention anything in terms of instrumental, mixing, lyrical content (I'm not counting a few silly bars/punchlines), theme or the overall sonics. Big fan of DEHH but the critique of DONDA being put together and lazy just isn't substantial. There was clearly effort.

I’ve been watching DEHH for 7 years now, the last review I disagreed with this much was their rodeo review. I don’t think this album is bad, it’s a good album. There’s at least 10-12 songs I think are really good. Did not like the Pop Smoke and Chris Brown song at all. They didn’t like Moon? Jail, Off the Grid, Praise God, Hurricane, Jonah, Believe What I Say, 24, Moon, Jesus Lord, Keep My Spirit Alive, Come to Life and No Child Left Behind were good songs. Obviously it’s their opinion and I respect that I’m just surprised at the songs they did like. I think this is a 7/10 album with the potential to be a 9/10 with some trimming and more mixing.

Love the review but I have to disagree on a few points. For starters there is a story being told on this album. How it's starts with him saying he's christian but still having these demons he's fighting. And then as the album goes on it's speaks more to him being saved. Like the album starts with his mom passing and saying he's willing to go to jail and ends with him saying gods done miracles on him. I can see how that may not be for everyone but that's the through line I got. Also I gotta disagree with Jay mailing it in..."On my cell, in my cell tonight Don't have to see you to touch you This is what braille look like, it's on sight".....are you kidding me ?! Agree that Fivio and Jay Elec killed it too.

The fact that Myke at one point said " All of the songs sound the same" Then a few minutes later said "they sound like kanye at different points in his career" shows me this Album had no chance with him unless it wasn't a God-inspired album. And I have no idea why anyone brought up bars on a kanye album. We've been listening to this guy for years and he has never been a lyricist, we remember his catchy hooks, his unique production, and the way he brings out the best in Artist. (minus Nas 😆) Hell even Nicki Minaj. Kanye's bag has always been his production. Granted his bars have gotten horrendously worse post MBDTF. This album was meticulous and heartfelt especially songs like 'moon', '24' & 'come to life'. This made me a Kanye fan all over again. (However, Everyone is entitled to thier opinions, all love fellas)

Almost no talk about the music, just lyrics? I agree it's too long and a pretty messy but idk. Still respect dehh but I feel like you skipped over some of the incredible moments like come to life, kanyes verse on Jesus lord, no child left behind, etc I thought the beginning of the album had a dark and demonic soundscape that contrasted really interestingly with the gospel elements as it goes on, and yall were saying it all sounds the same? U think jail sounds like the song with a Lauryn hill sample? Or God breathed sounds like the piano melodies on come to life? Yall were too dismissive of kanye, not saying the album is perfect or his best but cmon. Idk if cause it's so long you guys didn't let it sit with you that much but man the more I play it the more nuances I pick up that I really enjoy Also the tell the vision take ??? absolutely blew my mind, it sounded like an interlude, and the mixing/ beat were terrible. Easily the worst song on here, really weird take tbh lowkey made me feel like they ain't even listen to it lol

I can tell you listened to this album like 20x now or more, maybe it can grow on some people But I couldn't get past 18 minutes in. Maybe i'll give it a listen as a whole, I've been a Kanye fan since before he was Kanye so i'm not a hater I'm just picky when it comes to what I listen to & I'm not a fan of any of those Lil's Or Baby's mainstream rappers from today so the features turned me off too. Plus the fact that I know when Kanye's verse sounds fire I know it wasn't him writing it so that's a turn off too But to me Kanye is one of the best producers & these beats are not bad just different & I always respect different. can ya PLEASE stop with the Jay Electronica hype lol that verse is wildly forgettable. I think one aspect ya missed is the repetition of certain lyrics/phrases on this album which serves as "mantras" or positive affirmations for himself, and the listener. ya'll keep assuming Kanye is working towards "perfection" in the music. It feels like he's working toward a perfect mix yes. but I think the music itself and in the past few projects have been him giving us his feelings in the moment and NOT over working himself musically to be "perfect", which you could say is what lead to his "breakdown" a few years back with trying to create the perfect sneakers/clothes/images and everything he got going on. totally agree its too long, 12 tracks tops this would probably be considered a "classic" with a more defined through line in the picture he was trying to paint. peace.

I have to disagree with y’all respectfully on your take on this album. Listening to the review, it’s weird you guys barely talk about the themes in this album. This album is not a gospel album. It does have Christian undertones but it’s not. This album is called Donda. The name of Kanye’s mother whose death he still grieves. One of my issues with Jesus is King was that he talks about God but not about himself, it wasn’t personal. This album was probably one of his most personal albums. The gospel just like the features just play in as support for him showing love and support to his mom. I think if y’all were to look at this album for it’s themes and messages more, then you will appreciate everything more including the features. All the features played a role in the song or theme of the album, every one. That’s rare too with features now a days just happening for clout

I don’t think they fully grasp the theme throughout the album. This is a kanye timeline of the way he grieved the lost of his mother. The airy darkness throughout the album is an allusion to the empty sadness that the loss of his mother had for him. That’s why the “tracks sound the same” but also while some tracks sound like they’re “residual from yeezus MBDTF TLOP etc.” it’s snapshots into how he was feeling at every stage of grieving. Ultimately if they thought the pop smoke song was anything better than the 4th worst song on the album then IDK. Jail is wildly overrated. Second half of the album is insanely better than the first and it sounds like they got tired, lost focus, and ultimately stopped listening.

I get that y’all are tired of his antics and whatever. But, fuck. This was a truly bad review. I didn’t hear any actual criticisms outside of you complaining about Kanye not sounding like he used to. Or that he had a couple of corny bars. Which he literally always had. His verse on Off the Grid was dope. He didn’t follow Fivio Foreigns flow. At all. He killed Hurricane. He killed God Breathed. His verse on Jesus Lord was heartbreaking and one of his best verses since Kids See Ghosts. I’m gonna just digress with my initial point because I don’t need to write a full book. Just this chapter. Jay's verse sounded a bit awkward to me on first listen because of his flow choice, but man I totally disagree with that being a bad verse. "On my cell, in my cell tonight / Don't have to see you to touch you / This is what braille look like, it's on sight". And the opening part: "Hol' up, Donda, I'm with your baby when I touch back road / Told him, "Stop all of that red cap, we goin' home" / Not me with all of these sins, castin' stones". Jay went in with a thematically fitting verse.

I have very high respect for you guys and love listening to your reviews, the conversational aspect makes it really entertaining and insightful, whether or not I agree with your opinions. However, this review felt lazy and like none of you wanted to be here. You all seem to have listend to the album only once (some of your comments straight up say so), misatribute songtitles to the wrong songs (which track did you think Pop Smoke was on exactly?), you all don't talk about the highlights (not 'my personal' highlights, but there seems to be consenus amongst listeners like how Jesus Lord is fire and you just kind of skimmed it). You also did not talk about context or even seemed to have done any kind of research. Just sort of listened to it once in the background or in the car and went in for the review. If you don't want to review the album, just don't review it. I can respect that. But this was not the level we've come to expect. I've seen better (I mean more thorough, not higher scoring) reviews for Donda from people that are way less into the culture and are usually not nearly as articulate as you all are. Love your channel, really enjoy your work, but I feel like this should have been a more thoughtful review, or you should've skipped it.

Then come to find out some of you listened to it literally one time, and Ken said he finished it on the way to the review. You listened to a nearly 2 hour album one time and expect to digest and understand it? Of course it all sounds the same to you. Laughable.

I been rocking with DEHH for damn near a decade at this point, I love y'all and you've introduced me to so many dope artists. With that being said, this has to be one of the reviews I disagreed with the most. I'm not even a Kanye fan like that, but this album had some incredible, incredible highs. For sure it had some lows, and it was bloated and all over the place, but some of these songs are some of the best of Kanye's career. I can't believe y'all ain't even mention Come to Life. That was pure art. Moon - another incredible track. And no props for Kanye's verse on Jesus Lord? I really hope you guys go back and listen to this a few more times. Some of these tracks are real growers, and I actually think the album has been very underrated by the masses desperate to give an opinion straight away.

I personally love the album. At worst, I can see people getting turned off by the first 3 tracks for various reasons (the first song is a chant, the beat doesn’t build in Jail, the third song sounds like a Yeezus leftover with too long of an outro), which might give them a bad taste going forward. But Off the Grid and Hurricane should get you right back on track and set you in for the rest of the album. Like how can you listen to the album and not vibe to more than half the songs, especially since the features pretty much all give career-level performances over solid production.

Jail is fire. Only Donda chant which was originally presented with images is the only track I can see being turned off by. Maybe if religious themes turn you off we can add a few more but sonically it's awesome. I keep liking it more each day & have new favorite tracks. Thats the signature of a CLASSIC! Any time I had to sit with an album & continued to appreciate it it became a classic. Wut tang forever was like that. Raekwon only built for Cuban links was like that. Even Illmatic was like that for me initially. Not to mention Donda is long as shit! So if you appreciate good music give it more than one shot. Thank me later. 💯×💯

There's about 12 other tracks after the first 3 that weren't good at all or are just decent. Personally though, I like Off the Grid, Believe What I Say, 24, Moon, Donda, Jesus Lord, Come to life. If he stuck to those 7 tracks plus Donda Chant and put the effort to production like he did with MBDTF then this could have maybe been great and an actual tribute album. This didn't sound like a tribute album; it was all over the place with no theme. Jail was ok but Jay could have done better just like how he did for CLB. God Breathed is more of a work out track n sounded like Yeezus.

Listen to his critiques; he only says he likes something when someone else also says it, he put Tell The Vision in his favorites, then put Off The Grid in his favorites although he said he disliked Kanye and Carti on it (two thirds of the song), and the rest of his critiques could apply to any piece of music. I genuinely think he didn't listen to anything besides Off The Grid and Jesus Lord. His body language makes him look very insecure about what he's going to say, which is very out of character for him. My take: he didn't listen to it and wants to hate Kanye.
