Honestly the Suzuki RM’s from the 1970’s are the sexiest looking dirt bikes of all time. The look is timeless as is the sound.

I had two motocross bikes I pieced togethr , fixed up and sold to get my First NEW 78 1/2 RM 250 . Man I fought hard to get that bike ...My Dad thought I was crazy to buy it when I was driving a clapped out Chevy love . But , I started seriously racing with that bike and got two new friends who also raced and we raced Louisanna , Texas , Oklahoma , Kansas , Missouri and Arkansas . Plus we ran the NMA Nationals out of Ponca City ... It was the time of my life ! PK

I got the 250 @ 14 years old, wore a hole right though the swing arm at the chain guard on the pivot , fixed it with JB weld so the bearings would stay put! Lol

The sound of an old 2 stroke is intoxicating. If that doesnt get ya goin check in to a reirement home. I remeber my first bike It was a 1984 Suzuki RM 80 I bought it brand new I was 12 I saved up every dime I made from my paper route and shoveling horse crap on the weekends My parents were against it but I had the money and thankfully my brother in law was into bikes and helped me convince the parents. I loved that bike Lots of good times Id love to find one and do a restoration on it

Those little Suzuki engines weren't the most tourquey, but had feather light rotating assembly in them. If you stayed on 'em, and kept it wound up. They can boogie. Gotta keep them in the right gear and wail. Let it eat. Peace.

Mr. Kaplan, I'm so sorry that it took me so long to write you this!! I'm currently homeless, living in the creek off of Arapahoe rd. in Centennial Co. The reasons for this are complicated, but if you have the patience, I'm gonna tell you all of them. And I'm gonna be honest. I had an apartment, but that was taken from me by the Denver Police. I know that they were pissed at me for climbing out my second story window of the apartment I had before that, and stepping three unit's down and breaking the window of that apartment because I just knew your daughter Jordan was in there, and I wasn't sure how safe she was who lived there. At the time I had 5 felonies and as crazy as it sounds, I felt responsible if anything happened to her. I'm not gonna tell you how I know, so I'm just gonna say that she's special (i.e. good for the species special). I've never meant any harm to any of you guys. I told you once I loved you forever for reminding me of what I was missing in my life: Motorcycles!! That's why I'm telling you all this, out of respect!! At the time, I wasn't sure if I was really right about her being there. But a couple of months later, I busted her getting gas at this station across the street, and I knew I was not crazy. And she seems to be around a lot more then that. (Continued)

Why did people buy a 100b instead of a 125b .. price or 🤔
@gregbishop31677 күн бұрын
Size of rider, price, what class you wanted to race. Some raced 100 and 125. Back then you could race 100 ,125, 250, and open class.
@chopperenduro65907 күн бұрын
125 class in those days was no joke , going from 80 to 125 the kid was most likely in way over his head so we had the 100 class . Plus in the 70's moto-cross was so hot on the local level each class had a C - B - A level class & gates were full , also the 100 was bigger than the 80 but smaller than the 125 . The 100 A class was fun to watch those kids could fly .
@gregbishop31676 күн бұрын
1980 NESC Expert class Jim Meenan won all 4 of those classes. I think by looking at the stats that 1982 was the last year in NESC for the 100cc class. There might have been superminis later but those were youth classes.

Suzuki RM's ruled my State of North Carolina when they came out in the mid seventies!All the Best Riders raced Suzukis and this lasted up till the mid eighties.
@DJDORAN17 күн бұрын
@markallen6818 ..that might have been Carolina...but the best riders in the world in the early 70' was Roger Decoster(Suzuki)...then in the mid to late 70's...bob Hannah,Brock Glover,and Barnett, won 500cc...250,..and 125...on Yamaha yz,.. all in the same year, there's a very iconic add that I think everybody remembers,with its mono shock®...which is now standard on all motocross bikes...like I said changed everything.

So I get dumped in jail for 60 days. Through their many informants , the cops spread the rumor that I was a " mo" ( i.e. predator)and I was not very popular in there. It took almost the whole 60 days, but I earned my reputation back. I did it by acting like a Man, not an idiot! If you're real, people know, no matter what is said about you!! That was the most grueling 60 days I've ever done. And to top it off, I had to stand up and lie to the judge and plead guilty to a crime I didn't commit. I'm not racist!! I get my drumming ability from I believe a Zulu princess who my father may of had relations with when he was flying missions to the Congo in the Air Force. The one Man I most wish to emulate, other then my Dad, is Chester Thompson, a drummer, who is also black. That Zulu princess blessed me before I was born. What made that Man lie about me is irrelevant. He did, the damage has been done. From where I'm standing, the only thing I really did wrong, was not being liked!! Look, I'm gonna wrap this up for today. This morning I had my tent collapse on me. I woke up with a face full of tent fabric. Temps in the 20s now, getting into the teens tonight with 60 mph wind gusts require my attention. If my tent isn't already in Pueblo, I'm gonna try and stand it back up. I'm barely a third done with this story. I need to get this done!! I'll get more to you tomorrow, God willing!!

About 4 weeks after that the same friend that stole all my stuff called me up begging for mercy. He was about to be discharged from the hospital after having both his big toes removed due to diabetes. He asked me if he could kick it temporarily at my place. Like an idiot I said yes. He moved in and kept on rapping that he had my bitch. I at first didn't know what he was talking about until a couple of days in, in the morning, I walked out out of my place, in to my parking lot when I met Jordan in person. She looked disappointed. She bumbed a cigarette and left. A day or so after that, my friend said he was gonna be back in 5min. I waited for him for two hours, and said screw this, and crashed. He came by once at about 10 that night, but I didn't answer the door . He came back at 2 am and started banging on my door loud, and yelling. I answered that time and he said he wanted all his shit. I loaded it into my cart, and gave it to him. Right when he was leaving, the cops showed up and arrested me for a felony warrant. I went to court the next morning and found out I was charged with " felony menacing, a racially motivated crime" . The Judge set a $1000 cash bond, and I was stuck in jail. I did 60 days in jail over this. I'd been to prison when I was younger, but this was different!! I was just about 65 yrs old, and this was the hardest time I ever did!!

Before I lose my train of thought, let me give a shout out to the Lord: Thank You for not letting me tent blow to New Mexico, as it were. Thank You: I mean that!!! Anyways, keeping that thought in mind: allow me to continue, please: So after doing the hardest 60 days I've ever done in my life, I got out at 6:00pm in August, with the Sun blarring down on me with 6 cents in my pocket( oh, I didn't mention that they took all my money too. Anyways onward: So, having no money, I went to my apartment( oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my keys weren't in my property when I got out) building and found out that the cops had tossed my place when I was locked up... Convenient. Lesson Learned: Do not use the drums to get inside the head of a Detective, They will put you out.... Literally!!!
