I believe the strange creature was probably sun Wukong And the barrel was probably filled with immortal elixir from the jade emperor And the reason he was visiting Norse myth was to travel to different pantheons for enlightenment as a different version of the journey to the west story and probably challenge Thor to a drinking game or sum

It could be the Dagda, the good god of Irish myth. He might not look like a "strange creature", but one of the four treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann (tribe of gods the Dagda is the leader of) is a cauldron that could feed/sustain anyone. The Cauldron of Plenty could feed anyone for eternity. The Dagda was a magical, old All-Father figure like Odin but also had a lot of similarities to Thor as well. Both had extreme powerful weapons and were essentially the strongest of their pantheons. And the most worshipped. Also, it could be a Satyr of Kratos' homeworld or even Pan himself from Greek myth. That fills the strange creature role, but the bottomless barrel has no correlation to Satyrs other than them being depicted as barbaric/primitive drunks. Awesome video still
@95DOIDO
@95DOIDO Жыл бұрын
I thought about this, and it makes sense, I saw that a possibly celitc artifact called Gundestrup cauldron was discovered in Denmark years ago, and in this cauldron there are depictions of some kind of deity with horns, some scholars link that with the god of the wilds Cernunnos from old celtic paganism, could have been the Dagda or even Cernunnos himself, and it would make sense, since the spirit discribed the companion as a "creature".

The creature that the brooch man was talking about is Faye or laufey because if you complete the “ casualty of the war series “ then a spirit will tell you that they started to fight because they got drunk the warrior who fought Thor was a fair haired warrior with the leviathan axe and the huldra brothers(brok and sindri) build it for Faye. If u ask he said a creature , the spirit lost some of his memory of that day.

@@lovethewaves The spirit calls it a strange drinking companion, a creature he has never seen before. Faye was not a creature, and was easily mistaken as a normal human, and that's from Kratos who spent a very long time with her. Faye was also have said to have stepped in his path while Thor was swinging his Hammer drunk through town. Faye also probably wouldn't have drank with Thor due to her pure rage against him, a rage that manages to surprise Kratos. All this makes it pretty evident that it wasn't Faye. In fact my theory is that it was Utgard Loki disguising himself as a creature to get Thor drunk so that Faye could fight him on even ground.

I haven't seen anyone mention Dionysus, the Greek God of Wine. Now i know it doesn't fit perfectly with the story in Ragnarok, but hear me out. Being the God of Wine, Dionysus was able to conjure Wine at will, which could give the illusion of a bottomless barrel because he just refills it before it goes empty. I know this isn't likely, and the story said mead, but it's still somewhat possible. It would also make some amount of sense for Dionysus to be there. After the destruction of Greece, he needed a new place to call home, Vanaheim is pretty similar to the places he usually hung out at in Greece, and it would make sense for him to go to Scandinavia, like Kratos. This isn't very likely, but it is something to think about. It would also make sense why it was a creature they've never seen. In most stories, Dionysus was half satyr, which doesn't exist in the norse realm

And they have an ancient play that tells the story of an alcoholic loving sea spirits that go by the name of Shojo. In the play the sea spirit disguises himself as human and goes to drink sake but can’t get drunk. The sake seller seeks out the spirit near an estuary and it comes to him in its true form. The Shojo drinks the sake gets drunk and rewards the sake seller with a vat that REFILLS ITSELF!!!
