Batter used for patrode here is rice batter. Gram flour batter is also used in Maharastra and Gujrat

Pathrode may be a special item to Coastal Karnataka. But it's a daily breakfast dish in Saurashtra and Kutch areas of Gujarat.

In konkani Patra is leaf/leaves, vodo is dumplings so its called as Patrodo in Konkani..

Pathrode so called in south canara called pathrodi in Maharashtra called pathraval vadi in Gujarat but I as Karnataka native feel pathraval vadi made gujrati style the best crispy tasty dish reason in Karnataka they bake pathrode in cooker but in Gujarat it is fried in oil like bhujia great taste our Karnataka pathrode has husky leaf smell which is not liked by many also ingredients leaves being the same is different in gujrati pathravali I have tasted and giving impartial opinion even though I Kannada merit is merit the leaves plenty in Kerala and south Canara North Canara very costly in semi desert Gujarat all these true facts
