Explore Turkey: www.megalithom.... Karahan Tepe is unquestionably the greatest archaeological discovery of the twenty-first century. A sister site of Gobekli Tepe, it is located around 30 miles away in the Tektek Mountains of southeast Turkey. Since 2019 archaeological teams under the command of Dr Necmi Karul of Istanbul University have uncovered huge stone enclosures forming part of a massive ceremonial complex covering an area of around 10 hectares. The 11,000-year-old monumental architecture present at Karahan Tepe displays precision geometry, astronomical alignments, immense sophistication in design as well as a mindset of its inhabitants wherein it is clear that the objectives of constructing these special buildings was to connect with a cosmic source recognised by the symbol of the snake. Most important of all about the discoveries being made right now at Karahan Tepe is that it tells us Gobekli Tepe was not some one off anomaly but was part of an extremely sophisticated society that can now be recognised as a lost civilization of the ancients that thrived in the immediately aftermath of the last ice age. Andrew reveals everything we know so far about Karahan Tepe, having investigated the culture behind its creation across the past 25 years and visited Karahan Tepe on many occasions. He attempts to answer the questions of who built it, when, and why, and relates its builders to the Watchers and Nephilim of the Book of Enoch and the Anunnaki of Sumerian and Babylonian mythological tradition.
Andrew Collins is one of the world’s most renowned authorities on the world of Gobekli Tepe, being the first ancient mysteries writer to feature it in book form within his 2006 book The Cygnus Mystery. He has gained a strong reputation for reporting the facts correctly and in a manner accessible to a general audience. Andrew is also a lead proponent of the concept of a lost civilization and has a massive following on social media and on KZbin, where he regularly posts videos on the latest discoveries in the ancient mysteries subject. In Finnish language, which is rather old - the milky-way is called the track aka path / trail of the bird (linnunrata). The Finnish sauna, which is protected as cultural heritage - has archaeological history of about 9K years. And there are some genetic markers left in Finno-Ugric people that trace to hunter-gatherers - and some other such, notably to neanderthals and denisovans. My point is that Finnish language has been around for a time, in it's various forms, never mind the proto-form. I don't claim anything complicated or silly with these points made - but I do find it funny how essential this bird symbol seems to be at this site, how it ties to the stars and the milky-way. It is funny to find odd bits of connections that may have something to it, even if there is nothing really to be confirmed. Bit the same as the similarity between American native legend about 'Sky Woman' and the Finnish origin story involving Ilmatar (Air Maiden) - on one hand both stories are different, but this idea of female air entity is very similar. As for a snake - I think they found a stick that may have been carved in shape of snake at some archaeological dig in Finland and women still have traditional snake rings that wrap around your finger. Well that said, it was simply a statement about how funny it is to notice things that seem to have either fascinated or even meant something to people in different parts of the world, which almost echo connections unseen, hard to prove. But then again, I tend to like that legendary and mythological side of the matters quite a bit. It's wee bit like somewhere between fantasy and reality. Except that it is all blurred as to what is but imagination, and what the old cultures actually may have believed. For someone like me, who writes fantasy for her own fun - it's also material to toy with. But that said - I love history - and while no-one in their sane mind would risk a trip back in time - lol... one still wishes for a tiny fly drone fitted with a camera and mic to observe it all from the safe distances (^^). It really is a bit annoying to not know for sure what all those little echos from the past mean or how they lived then.

While camping in Dorset during the heatwave this summer, I fell asleep lying in the long grass of a meadow the heat fading as the sun dipped below the horizon. Waking in the dead of night the first thing my eyes focussed on was the Milky way a huge celestial curtain slowly sweeping across the sky. I remembered previous lectures by Andrew and was able to identify the Great rift and Cygnus. As I lay there, my braincells exploding with the magnitude, an Owl flew silently over between me and these stellar clouds.

We, people of today, suffer from light bias. That is, we have grown up in a society with light pollution. So, we never really consider the stars as our ancestors did. Humanity has observed the night sky for tens of thousands of years, and we've only had electricity for 140 years. This is why most sights have many astronomical alignments. We tend to forget that these people, were just as observant, intelligent and had the same deductive capacity as us. They observed their world, extremely carefully, because it was literally a matter of life and death. When there were times of plenty, and leaner times. When animals migrated, gave birth. When plants, fruits, nuts, wild grains would be available. When fish spawned. When birds laid eggs. Is it any wonder why, most of these sites are associated with life, death, and the stars.

I think these places were schools where a story was taught to the young using the constellations as memory images. Each constellation, represented by its image, carries a part of the story, part of the “song”. The tribal Bard would be responsible for transmitting this tribal knowledge to the young. What is the story? “In the beginning… now the Snake was more crafty… and the Lion will come… and the Serpent will rise out of the Sea….”. And so you teach the young, “when you rise up and when you lie down.”

i have been interested in ancient history for most of my life. what i have learned is that if you look back more than 5000 years, everything gets very fuzzy. there is nothing written in a language that we can decifer. it's like looking through a telescope back a few million light years and trying to figure out if anyone is looking back at us. there is a lot of conjecture and speculations and theories. you can dig up pieces of civilazation and try to figure it out, but you may never find out if you are right or wrong. we are still trying to figure out what the pyramids were built for and when and how long it took.

Unfortunately these are still guesses and no one will ever know the origins of such sites. Of course there were civilisations way before what we think, and we are not really an advanced civilisation, there are methods and understanding that has been long forgotten and that didn’t get passed down. We are so arrogant and to presume that we can understand ancient cultures is ridiculous.

As Andrew says, the main totems were the Vulture and the Snake, this was in his early work, the snake of course is the Sacred Serpent (Serpents) which resides and flows across and through all planetary bodies and has its origin (for the earth) in the Galactic centre which is epitomised by the Vulture with out stretched wings, which if you have seen the latest galactic images which show the tips (like wings) of the galaxy tipping, one up and the other opposite down... a most brilliant description and use of natural animals to describe these powerful plasma energies that have created our worlds.

These sites were not only very old but they predate the making of pottery. And some were continuously inhabited for up to 4 thousand years. They did have copper, but no copper tools have been found, apparently, copper was used for ornamental jewelry. Some sites have had thousands of beads found. Very fascinating. My theory is that they were founded along animal migratory routes. The round structures, lodges, we're for ceremonies

Very vivid imagination about what could have gone on in KT, but for all we know it could have been a water amusement park or concert hall. 😂 What is clear though is advance civilisations did exist in 9000BC, and I would caution labelling it as a "cradle" of civilisation, you could imagine it might have been the END of a far older great civilisation. After all, remember the Sumerian Annunaki history supposedly goes back 400 000 years.

I believe that the presence of animals in the carvings at these sites are possibly early totems identifying social groups; for example, the Fox or Snake clans, whose animals as you point out seem to dominate in the carvings of animals and possibly related to some sort of ritual progress, connected for example to coming of age rituals or rites of passage in primitive cultures (or even in higher culture, such as a Bar Mitzvah ritual). There is a strong possibility that these clans evolved into formal cults, and later into established religions in later culture, notably the animal based Egyptian religion. I think the model for ancient Neolithic cultures might be found in historical pre-pottery civilizations such as the Northwest Coastal tribes of North America. In fact the organization of the longhouses with their separated benches indicating tribal status seem to recall those stone enclosures at Karahan Tepe. No formal religion necessarily but revealing the importance of animal clans or phratries originally based on family social status, such as the Eagle phratry or the Raven phratry. Modern Neolithic cultures as models for ancient culture in Turkey. Societies or male fraternity structures in Melanesia or sub-Saharan Africa are other examples. Certainly ancestor worship might have been prominent. In later civilization one sees the Imperial cults associated with Roman emperors, personalities evolved into deities with their own priests and temples as an example of religious rituals derived from social connections without specific astronomical associations or basis. Getting on with this discussion, it was not necessary for these ancient cultures to dwell too intensively on astronomical details because of the assumption that these early Neolithic cultures were indeed of a basic hunting, gathering, and trading nature and were not agriculturally based, and so were not concerned with astronomical indicators important to farming matters. The lecturer mentions all sorts of alignments of structures against the compass (but perhaps not against each other) which don't in the end really seem to have any consistent intellectual framework. Perhaps astronomical ideas at this early date in culture had no special importance. These people had no telescopes. The temples in Malta seem to illustrate this indifference with astronomical alignments, for instance, which do not appear in temples until later in the Neolithic and the interest in agriculture as central to the culture, the earlier temples revealing an interest especially in fertility and fertility imagery. Man there were civilizations as far back as 50 million years ago on this planet. We can't fathom such vastity so we limit ourselves to finding stuff that is at most 12000 yrs old, it's like a hardcoded mental limit, everything must be at most 12k yrs old. Now that is when the Atlanteean culture vanished in a cataclysmic event so its not by chance we limit ourserlves to not find things older than that. Like if you suffered a deep trauma, you end up refusing to remember events before that lead up to it, you only remember things after the trauma ended.

It's completely seperated from the first circle as the initiate progresses to the next stage of life. The holes structure is a progression of the life stages witth ancestors going to the mountain (snake) in physical form and the soul to Deneb (vulture) in the sky. Just a guess with a wild imagination.

The Journey is a coiled snake. The phallus's likely represent the number of offspring one would have in that stage of life. The upright Milky Way would be the vagina birth canal that one enters when they die. The snake pit might be where the deceased are placed until the Milky Way lines up at which point they are cremated. Without a write language the ritual conveyed would provide all that was needed to retain knowlwdge of the proper lifecycle.

The quality of the guess and likelihood of it being correct comes back to Ockham’s razor - when presented with an unverifiable unknown the logical thing to do is to use the explanation that requires the least amount of steps, parts, etc. required to get the final solution. For example, when looking at KT one could say, someone found a collection of stones with interesting natural features that they expanded on slightly to form what we have today. That would be a preferred explanation to - Someone quarried the stones carried them and then collected workers to create a very specific religiously important representation of all the myths and beliefs of their culture. Even though it’s likely that the second one seems to make more sense, until we had something verifiable selecting the process that required the least amount assumptions is our best option because the likeyhood of it being the correct answer is statistically the highest. Yours is a pretty good explanation based on that principle.

You don't know it was metal tools. They could've had knowledge that would be completely foreign to modern man that allowed such construction. Or, metal being likely scarce it would not be waisted so we don't find it discarded. People over hundreds of years would've taken anything metal left behind by accident. We know materials were used for other projects over time and any handy tools would be the first things taken. These sites would've spent hundreds of years out in the open after being abandoned. They were picked clean long before rediscovery

Good stuff. Why do we say it's religious and or ceremonial? Because that's what we say about other sites with zero physical proof in that direction. If our current generation of archeologists and related academics were two thousand years in the future and found a McDonald's arch they would say it's religious and we must have worshiped a red haired clown God 🤡. These people that built all these amazing structures had the exact same brain as us. Many of their structures were far more utilitarian than we give them credit for. They wouldn't be wasting so much energy on such things...I can't remember the last time I built a ceremonial structure.

The 10° orientation to the northeast has something to do with form energy. We find this everywhere in Northern Europe, in ancient stone settings and stone circles. But also all ancient churches are built 3° offset to the northeast. This gives the building a positive vortex that brings with it a building energy that can be felt by anyone who enters an old church in Germany. The porthole is clearly an energy funnel, meaning that the energy collected inside is sent through the porthole to a central point. Where the energy was sent to is determined by the stone setting where the energy was generated and sent through the porthole. Simply draw an extension of all the plants through the portholes, which should be a central point, or the plants were connected in series and each plant amplifies what was sent to it.

the snake pit looks like a kiva from Hopi religion. The vulture-panther and eagle-lion is interesting. Eagle-Lion tends to follow a fiery nature, but a Vulture-Panther has a bit of a different underworld quality. American shamanic cultures identify the Eagle with Northern traditions and the Condor/Vulture in the Southern traditions. The Etana myth typifies the Eagle/Serpent conflict that could have related to cult histories of conflict. Were Sumerian people as "black-headed people," the Southern people or...? Myths hold histories by symbolic narratives, allegory, and key technologies. They personify ideas, emotions, material phenomenon and other things as the oral tradition of wisdom keeping was used to hold culture together. I think all these global temple structures evolved together and connected global migratory communities within a common religious paradigm, obviously with variations. The healers as snake charmers and worm extractors continue to utilize that symbology in the modern symbol for doctoral skills. The caduceus or the Rod of Asclepius shows the symbolic serpent upon the divine world tree. T-pillars are quite similar to the Saxon idea, and a modern variation, of Irminsul. Snakes as water and fire beings are interesting, like dragons in China. Watching the red lines in hot coals makes it easy to understand how fire can relate, but the Etana myth has a little clue. The serpent had to hide in a bull's carcass to entice the eagle to feast, since his hunger was the reason the Serpent lost her children. He lost his feathers, which is why he couldn't leave the earth pit. Similarly, the Æsir of Icelandic myth killed Thiazi by burning his feathers away. Krishanu in India, the archer Asura who was supposed to protect the elixir of immortality, Soma, shot at the phoenix that Indra rode to make it lose a feather. The feather fell and became the first Agni fire altar on earth. These sites are an exciting view of how religious narratives matched our animal's ability to shape matter into things our minds can imagine as abstract imagery. The oral tradition preserved so many memories that humans forget. As Solon was told by his Egyptian informant, because the Greeks did not write histories they were doomed to be forever children, and because of that the Greeks did not know the Great people from whom they descended...suggesting that Egyptians did remember!

Note about the so-called PPN (Pre-pottery Neolithic) designation of Göbekli Tepe: An actual terra cotta mug was found at Karahan Teple in the stratum of around 9 to 10K BC(E). Also, the stone vessels there may not be fired but the patterning on them is very similar to much later terra cotta fired pottery. So does this change the notion of when pottery culture began? Maybe it doesn't insofar as the firing techniques of later peoples are not yet in evidence. However, perhaps they will be found at the other unexcavated sites? Either way, I think it's solidly confirmed that they were not agrarian and - at least in theory - were before animal domestication. What is fascinating is that previous notions of "grain surplus precedes monumental temple development" is flat wrong. While that's no excuse for entertaining silly comparisons to Gothic sculpture (or even New Kingdom Egyptian) which is FAR, FAR more advanced than the primitive sculpture at Gobekli Tepe or elsewhere in Cappadocia, it is a lesson to remain open minded. That he could even make the comparison shows a criminal lack of nuance. Then again, linking it to later Levant myths specifically - rather than generally - seems spurious. An unexplored potential revision of previous assumptions of "firsts" (in my unprofessional view) would be the severed skull preservation and posterior decoration cult we see in evidence both in Gobekli Tepe and Gürcütepe, which seem to striking echoes in the skull storage and decoration pracrtices 2500 to 3,000 years later at Çatalhöyük, other Neolithic sites in Turkey, and even Jericho.

The archeologists missed this key point in their talk about this that the resisns were activated at 4-7 hundred degrees and so must have required a crucible to contain it. Would stone/ bone/ or some other item have been suficient for this?

@@rodchristoffersen7052 I feel like our mutual observations of these points demand for a rejection of the rigid, blockhead style assumptions implicit in the hard PPN (Pre-Pottery Neolithic) view that so many archaeologists are comfortable regurgitating while checking their common sense at the door: that suspiciously strong antecedents, even qualifying examples of practices that later bloom into full-fledged, dominant ways of life, are seen LONG before the big movements spring forth due to giant shifts in production patterns and their associated demography and social relations. I make the same inference with regard to the severed skull preservation and decoration cult: that this practice could in fact date from 15K or 20K years BCE and reflect the deep roots not only of the early Bronze age in the Neolithic, but even of Neolithic religion in the Paleolithic. The reason they do this is because they offhandedly and subconsciously confuse moden scientific innovation, or manifesto-launched literary or artistic trends, where - due to innovation's degree of specificity and the formality of its discourse - the shift to a new paradigm or tendency can be precisely identified, with the much more estuarial process of paradigmatic productional transitions, which are more shifts of prevelance, intensity, and compositional formality than strictly innovations per se. They know this but though rote habit don't talk as if they know it, and these bad habits then affect their overall mindset.

These ancient sites are "Honor Grounds" They were built to honor those from elsewhere that died on this planet during the beginning stages of the expansion of Consciousness in man, but specifically all of creation, and at times of war between several interplanetary beings. Although there were times when these beings had to bury the dead in the Earth, the overwhelming majority of time they built these monuments to them and then transported their bodies back to their home world or disintegrated their bodies. Many more of these sites are to be found the world over, including America! Life is about to become far more interesting and magnificent for all of those who go inward for their answers!! Hi there, I have some observations i would like to suggest here: The Serpent with the human head is probably a representation of the Serpent from the Adam and Eve story, which is Satan as he approached in a shape shifting form or actually haunted a serpent (Snake) and talked to Adam and Eve in the known story and its repercussions !!!. The face on that Serpent depiction looks exactly like how the in middle eastern cultures depict Satan face is. The Danab constellation analogy is related to the tail, the word Danab "Thanab - TH pronounced as THe" means literally "TAIL" in Arabic language, i believe its another reference to the Serpent or Snake, i mean what if for them it was a representation of a snake instead of a Swan (minus the wings for sure), the constellation titled Cygnus, because the whole shape of the Cygnus bird (the Swan), and that star represents its tail is the Danab. The Vulture is probably a Phoenix, why !!! because the Phoenix in greek mythology is known that it does resurrect from the ashes and comes back from death to live eternally, according to Greek mythology. IMO, its another representation of the afterlife, as the dead person is resurrected from ashes back to life. I can also assume that this might as well be a Satanic cabal temple of sorts, the clear admiration of the Serpent is a hint to that. Another scope of observation on this site, the whole area (Northern Mesopotamia) was known to be resided by the people of the prophet Echelon (Idris), those people are called the Sabians, they were monotheistic in their faith identical to Muslims, but the interesting thing about them is that they prayed towards the north star Polaris, they worshiped the same Lord of Muslims and Israelite Allah or Elohim, but instead of pointing towards Mecca or Jerusalem in their prayers, they were commanded to point to Polaris, and until this day they still point to Polaris in their prayers, also there is a small community of them still resides northern parts of Iraq. BTW, if anyone needs to learn about old names and sciences, cosmos in particular, look up their ancient names and its meaning, ancient Arabs have done a lot of pioneering research into the cosmos and they simply derived some of the names or knowledge from the ancient people. I hope this info is somewhat fruitful for this topic. Its just what came to my mind listening to Andrew, so if anyone came something out of it, please comment and enlighten me !!

Karahantepe means Black Settlement Hill. Göbeklitepe means Stomach Hill, not 'pot belly'. Keçetepe means Goat Hill. The Turkish suffix 'li' is like 'ly' in English. When I see the stone 'thrones' it reminds me of the stone and cement manger type structures used today on small farms for holding goats and sheep, especially to fatten up for sacrifice. The snake is associated with Satan or Lucifer. Paul Wallis (Echoes of Eden) gives a great explanation about who the gods actually are.

Claudius Ptolemy sat down his books, the one that the Arabs call the Almagest and the other is the Tetrabiblos. By the way, Ophiuchus is a Greek/ Roman thing with its own meaning outside of the Zodiac. Now as for the galaxy center, it moves with the rotation of the Earth, and during 9000 BC it was visible at 5 in the morning during the winter solstice and not at noon on the summer solstice.
