THANKS for posting this, Mark. Only 768 views?!? Only 4 comments?!? I'm shocked. This is a major document. HVK was often superlative in the studio. The evidence is mounting that he was even better live before an audience.

Karajan obviously took Stravinskys criticism of his 1960s recording to heart. Here we have a viscerally thrilling Sacre that is played very brilliantly. This is right up there with the recordings made by Ozawa/CSO and MTT. Bravi tutti. Someone mentioned that HVK is better live than in studio. No doubt about it. A different animal in front of a live audience (rather like Tennstedt).

Do you have any more rare recordings of the Sacre? Interestingly enough, this one was recorded a day before Stravinsky died.
