Welcome onboard a Maersk cargo ship . In this video I will be showing you the cabin where I will be staying for the next 6 months .
It's a good cabin designed for only single person occupancy . Most of the cargo ships in merchant Navy have a similar cabin to accomodate sailors .
Life at sea demands good rest for safe working onboard these ships & a good cabin definitely is a necessity as per MLC rules & regulations .

Next time you're in port get a "drip tray" for your pot plant. It'll stop water coming out the pot's bottom when you fill it! Be careful not to overfill the drip tray or you will have the same problem. When you get a drip tray you can try just filling the drip tray instead of the top. If it empties it needs more water.

I must say accommodation size and comfort has gone down in quality since I left the sea in 1989, all cabins from third officer and upwards were always double cabins so that you could take your spouse. With reference to your comment as a single user cabin, it is there for one person only and used purely for sleep. I hope that when you become 2/0 accommodation will greatly improve.

One observation is that cabins on the newer ships have a standard layout when it comes to size and positioning of furniture. It seems all yards in South Korea have come to a common agreement in terms of cabin design and the furniture. But I would say one of the best features the Koreans have given cabins, is the commercial aircraft type vacuum toilet 🙂. I suppose when your ship is fully loaded all you'd get to see is a wall of steel containers when you open the curtains of the porthole. This is where tankers and bulk carriers have an edge over container ships given the view of the sea they offer for the forward facing cabins ☺.

The quality of the video was excellent. Your cabin is large and comfortable. You need to get the bottom of the plant pot so that the water does not run all over the place. The bottom looks like a saucer and and if you get the bottom that goes with that pot it will snap into place . It then would be better to put water into the saucer and let the plant drink it as needed. Thank you for sharing your life at sea . ⛴ ⛴ ⛴ ⛴ ⛴

Like your work. This was my world, I worked on both small/mid size cruise ship and a bulk carrier both on the Great Lakes. Your living area is much like on a bulk carrier. Cruise ships were much smaller and I had to share. Food on the bulker was also better and more of it. I miss this life.

Your room looks like a nice quiet getaway and a good place for editing. I am surprised that you do get a little seasick, but at least your couch and your bed face different directions to cancel out either fore/aft or port/starboard motions. I like that your bed is tucked around the corner away from the front door. Do you often hear your neighbor talking when you have to sleep? It must be hard with your 4 hours on and 4 hours off schedule?

The spray thing to clean your bottom after you defecate (poop) is called a _"bidet"._ Bidets have not really caught on yet in the USA, Canada and UK, although medical doctors say they are better than toilet paper and they've been widely used in France and Japan for a few decades now. Bidets would probably simplify your ship's waste processing too.

Please make a video about so many sailors that are stuck on ships due to Corona and other reasons. Some are out of salaries and food too. My relative 2nd officer is out of home since 2 years and unable to come back due to Corona. Thanks.
