Thank you for the inspiration! And love the on-screen text comments, the sense of humour is very much in line with what my different senseis used to say in trainings. 😂

Sensei! Marvelous stuff! Over the years i've seen way too many making tai/ashi sabaki drills far more complicated than they need be for something that should be as simple as, well, walkig (Berty Einstein: "genius is the art of simplicity"). You're giving us gold... arigatou, and kudos, sir!
@GojuRyuKarateCentre
@GojuRyuKarateCentre 2 жыл бұрын
Ah, thank you so much, Sensei Jed! Randori should be simple, which is not the same as easy, and making something complex just to give it the unnecessary aura of difficulty for the sake of it lacks elegance. And like Da Vinci said: simplicity is the ultimate sophistication 🙇🏻‍♀️

Thank you very much sir. Very good tips on randori and have been practicing it with my wife and daugther, I can see myself improvements for us by doing this drill. No stress, no adrenaline and allows time to think constructively on the attacks. Also, it helps to remove my old sports karate training bad habits away while practicing to make it functional karate.

Randori is truly the science lab of karate, where we can test out all our theories, strengths and weaknesses and discard that which no longer serves us. So glad you have found these drills helpful (we have two more videos on the same topic) and we look forward to hearing about your progress :) Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

Great video and explanations here, thanks for all the work on the channel. I would love to see some videos in the future on sparring guidance, particularly close-in fighting. I've switched to Goju from Shito-ryu and it's quite a change in terms of distances.

Not sure if Goju has a version of Bassai, I would love to see the bunkai's for it. KZbin videos have some really weird applications for that kata.
@GojuRyuKarateCentre
@GojuRyuKarateCentre 2 жыл бұрын
Goju doesn't really have a similar kata, but the excellent @practicalkatabunkai channel of Sensei Iain Abernethy has excellent bunkai videos and he does have a couple on Bassai! His approach to karate is similar to ours, so hopefully his Bassai content will be helpful :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZPEo3-vjManlck

Is this what is called Tai Sabaki?
@GojuRyuKarateCentre
@GojuRyuKarateCentre 2 жыл бұрын
Very much so! Taisabaki is definitely part of karate, even if we don't talk about it as much as we do stances, for example. Body management and getting out of the way is as important as blocking, but maybe the shortfall is that we don't name it and teach it as much as we should at the very beginning.
