mike, I knew Lew at UCLA (I graduated in 68 snd he in 69) and he was a very fine young man who at first was homesick for New York. He became very good friends with my brother and would visit our apartment at 400 Veteran and hang out. Lew was and extremely bright, erll sooken, and principled person who absolutely developed a mutual respect for Wooden. I had not known he wrote this book. Glad to know you liked it. I shall pick up a copy.

Coach Wooden coached at my alma mater, Indiana State University. ( long before Larry Bird played there ). Wooden wanted the best players. Color was irrelevant during that segregated time to Coach Wooden. ISU didn't like Wooden's style of play because he played blacks without hesitation, if they were good ball players. He left ISU. The rest is history. The cream always rises to the top. Wooden was a great man as well as a great coach.

Surah 1. The Opening 1. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. 2. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds; 3. Most Gracious, Most Merciful; 4. Master of the Day of Judgment. 5. Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek. 6. Show us the straight way, 7. The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.

Coach Wooden didn't treat Edgar Lacy very well. Do a TV Special on that relationship.

Kareem has a great bond for his coach because his coach had Sam Gilbert pay hin and his "freshman dorm roon" was Kirk Douglas's mansion. Dirty John Wooden couldnt win without buying players.

All lies. Gilbert gave KAJ nothing. He only co-signed for a loan on Luscius Allen's car.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has actually spoken and written about how race figured into his relationship with John Wooden. Race figured into the way their relationship was perceived by the public and was something they were aware of and thought about, too. Race is just another part of their story, there's no shame in talking about it.
