I'm the father of an autistic child and another child with seizures but even I know autism is not the only disability in the world. The level of entitlement you have to have to believe that autism is the only qualifying disability in the world that takes entitlement to a whole new level

I'm autistic and I am disabled because of all the struggles I had growing up because of my condition. The behavior of this woman is appalling because even if her daughter needs someone to accompany her, this woman maybe using her to get a free pass to the ride despite not being disabled herself and the way she treats others, accusing them of not having a disability when she has no proof.

Ok so about the first story, the Karen claimed that the op was disabled enough to have the special pass because of the thing that’s going on with their leg, and says it’s not an actual disability. I literally smacked myself in the head when I heard that cause I’m friends with a girl who pretty much has the same disability, except it got so bad that she’s in a wheelchair. A top of that me as way as a crap ton of my friends have autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, and one of thems deaf. Autism is a spectrum disorder and a developmental disability, and there are also some disability’s that effect us in ways that are better or worse. So yeah, I’m glad the OP got on the ride with their friends without having to deal the the Karen any long (I’m sorry if I ranted a lil)

It's fine, I agree with every bit, I think that Karen should answer for her crimes and should have her home and everything she owns repossessed, and her child taken away from her, and given to a true home, one that cares for her, cause to use your daughter as a free pass to get to a ride and other things, not to mention that she claimed the op of the story was faking, how dare she even do that, I hope that woman gets the ultimate punishment for herself, and then has all her things and house taken away from her, and her daughter being in a better home than the home she is in, then the karen to be made to work her debt off for how she treated her daughter, which would be pretty much infinity!

I get dirty looks because I "don't look disabled". When I was younger, both teachers and classmates alike bullied me and accused me of faking my problems. Even though I had doctor's notes and a 504, adults would harass me and try to get me kicked off the elevator (which was supposed to only be for people who needed it). When I first came out of hospital I needed a wheelchair for 2 months for mobility outside the home. I used to get my friend to drop me off using the the disabled parking to load & unload from the car. I don't use any parking passes as I was in & out of the car in 1 minute so knew I someone needed to use it more than me. I was abused once when my friend drove in & I hopped out into my wheelchair to clear the space for others. I saw the woman abuse him & when she saw me in the wheelchair she continued with her tirade. I pointed to the wheelchair & she said "he does not have a permit !!!! I pointed to my friend who parked the car 4 spaces over.

Gaming is really irrelevant to the situation. I could be sports, for example. It's one thing to have regular habits and schedules. It's another to be pulled away from couple activities that have been planned. If someone won't put in time just for the relationship, then you aren't a priority and aren't compatible.

One time I had some laser surgery on my foot so I had trouble walking sometimes, for that I would try to sit whenever I could when riding the bus A group of women maybe in their 50s or 60s got on the bus and glared at me, I didn’t rly take notice of them Bcuz I was wearing my headphones. One of them tapped me on the shoulder and motioned to the empty seat next to me so I got up so she could get to that seat. Her frd saw the opportunity and sat on my seat, then the other two who were standing said to the women in seats, loudly so that I can hear, “young people these days, u have to force them out of the seats, no respect for elders at all” First of all, altho I’m not old like them, it still hurt to stand, that’s why I’m in the seat Second of all, I had my earphones on, if they had politely asked me to give them their seat, I would, after all, if u had asked for it, I would think that u rly needed it, considering that they did look quite old. But because they thought they were so smart to trick me into getting up, I just mumbled to myself, also loud enough for them to hear, that I also had surgery recently and I’m not trying to be rude. They started to apologise immediately, but the one sitting in my seat didn’t, she just sarcastically said “so u wanna sit back on this seat?” Since I thought it would be stupid to argue over a seat, and I’d be getting off soon anyways, I just told her “no, u can sit on the seat, it just hurts a bit but that’s fine” And the four got quiet The bus arrived my stop around 5 mins after this convo so there wasn’t a big issue

I’ve had someone say this to me. I was born with spina bifida and can’t walk long distances to I always grab an electrical cart at stores to shop. A “Karen” got up in a huff about seeing me in one she had gone to a manager to have me removed from the store. Saying I wasn’t disabled and didn’t need to use one of the carts. I showed the manager the braces on my legs that were hidden under my pant legs and then turned to the lady and told her that I was disabled and to leave me alone. Let’s say that pissed the “ Karen” off more she literally tried grabbing my arm to pull me from the cart. The manager saw this and had 3 other employees hold the lady back while they waited for the cops to show up. I was so pissed I sat there for 45 minutes telling the cops over and over again what happened eventually showing them my leg braces as well. She got arrested for putting her hands on me and I was able to finish my shopping which should have only been a 20 minute shopping trip turned into almost 1 1/2 hours

I’m disabled as well. I’m 6’5” and can stand and walk normal. I can lift up to 30lbs and I breathe ok. However unbeknownst to anyone I’m struggling with terminal stage 4 cancer. I have tumors in my femurs, spine, arm, skull, liver and lungs. My right kidney was removed because of tumor. I’ve had 3 rounds of chemo, 5 bouts of radiation, and way too many radioactive scans than a normal person. I’ve had a saddle pulmonary embolism, spine fractures and a femur fracture. I’m a fighter and push myself hard to survive and improve. I’m proudly no longer in a wheelchair or using walking aids. My crutch is my fatigue and easily high heart rate. I sleep 14 hours a day and when walking my heart rate can hit 170 in a few minutes. I need constant rest. I take lots of pain medication that’s skirting a fine line between 0 pain and still having the ability to drive. It really sucks taking 9 horse pills and 11 other pills per day. The constant skin rashes suck also. I’m very self conscious about my disability because it’s not readily visible.

I have an "invisible disability" genetically defective collagen. Collagen is everywhere - skin, muscles, ligaments, bone, blood vessels, urinary tract, gut, eyes etc etc. I've finally achieved a good balance of pain relief without being "drugged out" on low dose opiates and oral CBD oil at night and panadol and ibuprofen in day plus hot baths, arthritis creams, walking aids, braces, physio exercises, compression garments, hot water bottles, etc etc. Plus a bucket load of meds and vitamins for wet macular degeneration and energy. Someone telling me I'm faking it is now like a red rag to a bull. The last one who did it [repeatedly] was simply told "ignorant arsehole" in a very severe cold tone. He fell like a pile of bricks and started apologising. Not good enough. I'm a 5' tall female of small frame, but I had packed my groceries and was out the door while he was still being served. I can't believe they have the nerve to pick on someone your size, although my experience is most are 'gentle giants', but ask any martial arts person, short people can really do damage to certain male areas.

Okay, not all autistic people are the same. There are different levels, just because one person can function doesn't mean they all can. True, in general, you can't SEE it, but that doesn't mean anything. I have a severely autistic daughter who would not be capable of waiting in a long line, which is why we've never been to a theme park. Granted, with my child you only have to watch her for two seconds to realize she has severe autism. It shouldn't be a "who is the most disabled" contest. Everyone should just mind their own business and not worry about who is more disabled.

In my first year of college, I met another student, and we started dating almost immediately. She later told me, after we broke up (over a misunderstanding), that her mother tried to break us up. She didn't like her daughter and I dating only because I was shorter than her. I'll admit that there was a difference. She was 5' 10", and I was 5' 2". There was also a beauty and the beast situation: she was absolutely beautiful and me, I wasn't.

My dad crashed his bike and broke his leg in 6 places So he uses disabled parking and fast lanes at airports etc. Also I’m autistic and can move without problems. As someone on the spectrum, of all the disabilities to be in a special line for, autism often isn't as extreme as broken limbs. Even though I qualify for those special lines, I don't need them as I can wait in lines just fine. It really depends on the circumstances (not everyone can physically wait in long lines without sensory issues or fainting), but the nerve to call out someone with a clearly visible disability is absurd.

Autistic people tend to look "distracted". It's like their eyes are permanently looking sideways, upwards or downwards or their face and body are facing different ways. Or at least, that's what I've noticed at an autistic centre.

The last story... My sister-in-law has actually rattled the windows with her belching. Not a burp, but a belch. The first time I heard her do it was 1984, scared the dickens out of me, I didn't know what it was. Central Florida gets sinkholes that can swallow houses up... I thought something like that was happening, until she started laughing. I thought maybe it just sounded louder because she was in the hallway. But nope next time she did it she was in the living room, rattled the windows then too. My mother-in-law said it had something to do with she had a hernia. My grandmother had a hernia and never made a noise like that. I don't know what's wrong with her, but that just ain't normal. She could get side work as a fog horn. 👵☮️🖖

Is someone with a high functioning anxiety disorder? I hate it when people say it like I’ll prove it and stuff like oh yeah, you want me to have a mental break down in public and rip my own hair out and I can’t say that I’ve had it since birth I developed it at school and that doesn’t help my case with what are the chances that that happens this is that people like this really suck like I don’t think you’ll be able to get into it I’m disabled but still listen it’s still it’s something that I can’t escape. I have to go to therapy almost every week and it’s something that I can’t escape and when people question that authentic a lot just makes me pissed off like oh if you’re because I didn’t wanna give me a doctors consultation like no thank you. I don’t want I don’t want I don’t want to tell you that I’ve had a mental breakdown said I was gonna do bad things to myself. Can’t even go to school cause I had a mental breakdown, the kiddos, physically disabled and kept bugging me. He wasn’t. It wasn’t his fault he was born like that but I just can’t handle stress like that.

I have an invisible disability; extreme anxiety (to the point I often can’t do normal things), adhd, claustrophobia, and possible agoraphobia and schizo-affective disorder. I can barely wait in line at the store without an anxiety attack coming on, so I get a disability pass and disclose this to the faculty that admit the pass, and I haven’t been denied once. Yes, my family use the pass along with me, but they never take it for granted (minus my little brother who still sometimes complains, but he has flat feet and i understand completely). They are my rock and keep me grounded when i’m public and crowds, until my SDiT is able to go with me to allow me more independence.

Wow, this entitled Karen is so rude to use her daughter like that. I am autistic and high-functioning for that matter, even if anyone or even my parent did that to me. I would speak up right then and there if the daughter is either high-functioning. and is scared to talk to her mother, or she's not that high on the Spectrum scale, and she can't defend herself, which is wrong. if she can't in that case and she is on a lower scale, then she needs to be removed from her mother's care cause I believe that is abuse.

Mine is a different perspective. My son is autistic and though he does have some issues we have to accommodate for (noise, communication and obsession with wheels for example), he is very smart. I know autism is a very broad spectrum but i absolutely loathe when people act like that those with autism are less than capable and that it is more of a disability than any others.

I am disabled but it is really subtle٫ I would have to outright say it unless it was one of my struggling moments and I've had people especially teachers try and tell me that "there's nothing wrong with me" and "I'm just faking it so I don't have to do something" whilst in reality I was in pain or they wanted me to do something that would be detrimental to my health٫ it honestly bothers me that people have the gall to say " you're not disabled" when unless you know for a fact they're lying٫ you've known them for ages and it's never been an issue or they've told you they're lying stay. out. of. it.

Story 3: This is why I only date other gamers, or heavily prefer to. I'm married to a gamer and my (polyamorous) other partners are all gamers, so we often game together. I do agree that he should be able to set some time aside where he's not being pulled away from other stuff (e.g. guildmate messages you on discord or something, just say you're not available) but ultimately, the fact that she doesn't share one of his most time-consuming hobbies is going to be a problem. Whether it's gaming or reading or sports (playing or watching) or car shows or anything - if you have a hobby that is important to you and takes up any significant amount of time on a daily basis or even weekly basis, you should be very careful dating/marrying someone who doesn't share that interest, because eventually they will try to force you to pick between them and your hobby.

@@AnimeGamer501st not if it's agreed upon from the beginning, I've found. I might not completely agree with it but my sister and brother-in-law do that and been together 15+ years and married for 12 of those. She said think of having steak every day for years but you like pork chops, ribs, chicken, turkey wings etc and want variety. You can't do that with monogamy no matter how you spice it up and she figures it was one of reason why our parents divorced years ago. I could see her logic in that but very few people would go for that

So ... The autism thing? It sometimes comes with sensory issues, making being in a line surrounded by people very uncomfortable, and things like that, so even though some autistic people can handle a theme park well enough, others can get too overwhelmed. Also, even if an autistic person can navigate society, it's not easy. That's literally part of autism that doctors use for diagnosis! That's the part/a part of an autistic person that is disabled. Though, I am mildly curious how interested her daughter actually is in the theme park.
