I believe the point Judith was making is that the 26 year old sees herself as still being a child and her mother treats her as a child, with special legal and social protection. She is unwilling to address and engage with other adults as peers and neighbors and does not believe others have the same rights and that she has the same responsibilities. This is a fairly common thing to see in courts, where people in their mid-20s who drive without insurance claim to still be young and innocent and their lack of insurance should be excused for that reason. Many people arrested in their 20s loudly scream that they can't be touched and/or handcuffed due to their age. It is not completely out of bounds for somebody who is 50 years old to converse with a neighbor who is 26 years old about issues with a fence. The daughter and mother thought that talking to an adult neighbor about dogs getting through the fence was somehow a horribly disgusting and immoral act due to the difference in age. Are you agreeing with that belief?
