Even if you have the facts, and the law on your side, somebody who can speak clearly and concisely on your behalf is super valuable. Professional public speaking.That's in addition to the benefit of them knowing the rules and how to navigate the process. Extra bonus might come into play with a lawyer using negotiating skills off the record.

I'm so tired of seeing people showing up to court via zoom and not acting like they're in court. Laying in bed, walking around, eating, playing with kids. Ridiculous. The other day there was an idiot getting her hair cut while in a zoom hearing. I wish judges would call them out.

I saw that one…..I can’t believe that anyone with half a brain cell would think this was acceptable. Think the courts are so crowded from a lot of the same people committing same crimes or even different ones…and promising to do what was asked but can just about tell they have no intention of doing it. They keep letting them out with very little accountability….they should have some kind of work farms or something other than some calling in probation which so many don’t do anyway. They may not have room to put them in a jail but the punishment needs to be a lot tougher. And I’d want proof of anything they said….job….health reasons….everything that can possibly show. I just don’t believe some people….if she truly is dying then I’m sorry…that’s bad.

This guy recently had a dui, and failure to get an ignition interlock. So clearly he also has an alcohol problem, and seems to thinks it's ok to drive drunk. And then his record appears to be quite lengthy judging by how judge Webster had to scroll through to get to the more recent stuff. I doubt this is some innocent old man who's only issue is that he likes to smoke every now and then, like you make him out to be.

In parts of the US, places are far away from each other. It's a 1.5 hr 124 mile drive for me to go to a walmart or a shoe store. I live in a town of approx 5,200 people. Uber, lyft, and public buses/transport don't exist here. I can imagine the same issues occur in rural Kansas.
