Fun fact: buying something at a store requires the seller's consent to sell. You can't just toss money on the counter and take something. They have to consent to sell it to you. And they don't have to if they don't want to. Another fun fact: "legal tender for all debts public and private" does not mean a store has to accept whatever currency you offer them. If you try to pay in pennies, they can refuse. Because a transaction is not a debt. A debt is incurred when you owe money for something you have already taken.

@littilwood2 жыл бұрын
Karens seem to think that as long as they throw money on the counter, they can just walk out with the item, even if the store doesn't want to do business. All business involves a contract. Without that contract, leaving with that property is theft. I can't walk into your house, slap the value of your television on your kitchen counter, and walk out with the tv. The argument they'll make is that this is a public business. Yeah, that's true. It means they CAN do business with you, not that they HAVE to. Unless you are handed a receipt, do not leave with the product.
@Skank_and_Gutterboy2 жыл бұрын
In my hometown a kid found out that it doesn't work like that. His underage-moron tactic was to walk up to the counter with an 18-pack of beer, slap down a $20 bill, and then run to a waiting car with the beer. It's not stealing because he paid for it, right? No. The clerk got the license #, it wasn't hard for the cops to interrogate the name of the runner out of the underage driver, and they both got busted for retail theft and underage possession of alcohol. Nice try, Skippy!
