Nail Preparation for Gel Polish

The preparation of the Nail Plate is so important for a professional finish to your Gel Polish....
This video number two covers how to prepare the nails so you can be confident that application of the gel polish will adhere properly to the natural nail and will last until the next appointment..
There are some Gel Polish manufactures who claim that their gel polish needs no nail for any preparation of the nail plate and in some cases that is true....
However, as a professional Nail Technologist, I need to ensure that the Gel polish has every chance to adhere properly to the nail pate and there is only one way to that and that is to prepare.
Lifting problems and substandard looking finish are generally caused by Oil, grime and over grown cuticles which can be easily avoided by a little preparation.....

Awesome! I have seen nail techs soak in water prior to pushing back the cuticles.

Would you recommend using a cuticle dissolver or do you have any more tips for maybe softening the cuticles before pushing them back? As I know sometimes they can be hard to just push back on their own. Thanks

Why sometime free edge doesnt cover with gel polish.even i do cap the free edge. .I will still see white Line in free edge.

Can I use alcohol & dip it in cotton or do alcohol wipes work better?

+Flor Navarro Yes you can dip cotton wool balls into alcohol or use alcohol wipes, they will both work the same.karen

Why does my nail keep lifting at front of nail bed. Especially when my own nails are long and then they get very thick underneath? Please help. Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Recently I have starting using gel polish. (GELISH BRAND mostly) I havent had any problems with mine. So I started doing other ladies nails and for some reason its pulling away and peeling at the tips. I am pushing cuticles buffing and cleaning them. And capping the free edges. So im not sure why this is happening. Can anyone help?

Tiia Belanger it could be that you are applying the gel polish too thick causing it to peel, apply very thin layers, hope this helps xxx
