In order to move forward with our home renovation we need to pick out our appliances!! You would think this would be easy for me, but there are so many amazing options at the Midland Appliance Showroom in Richmond, BC that it has become a little more difficult than I thought! Thankfully Marty was there to walk us through all our options and help us choose what is right for our lifestyle and floor plan. I hope you learn more about choosing appliances for your own home or project and get some insight on the hottest new technology in home appliances! If you are looking for your own appliances or have any questions, be sure to contact Marty at www.midlandappl... and tell them we sent you!!
If you liked this episode, please let me know by giving it a thumbs up and if there are any specific parts of a home renovation you would like to see, please let me know in the comments below!!

Dear Karin, I am based here in Northern Ireland and I've been recently watching your great program on Netflix. That's where I first fell in love with your work, then I found this channel. I've traveled and lived abroad in the Middle East for over 10 years returning home to care for my mum who had cancer and recently a stroke. I've always loved interior design and architecture. I have been involved in getting my mum's house ready for her return home from hospital. When she arrived home she loved what I achieved in such a small place in her house. I've tried to make it cosy, with a cottage in the country vibe. I must tell you that you have completely inspired me in all that you do; your positive 'must do' approach to life and your unprecedented talent are awe-inspiring; it puts hope and faith back into my life after dealing with my mum's illness. At the age of 52 years young and with your inspirational work I've finally signed up for an Interior Design course; change of career and I feel you are never too old for to embody and embrace the creative process. I will continue watching your channel and I hope from time to time you might give me some advice on design. Namaste and may you continue to inspire and lead by example! xx

Hi Karin, to be honest, what you're doing with these videos is so important, because it gives people hope. I've studied the same program on BCIT as you did, but than took on a career as a photographer in New York. However throughout the years I've been missing design so much that I've decided to go back and start my career in interior design. For some reason it's been so terrifying to start, but your videos gave me so much pleasure and strength to believe in myself and go after the shit I want to happen for my life. Hands down, you are badass! Thank you so much..

Omg ur so gorgeous and talented! U remind me of sandra bullock. For the last 15 yrs i have been dreaming to be an interior designer . I was signed up for the program and my ex talked me out of it. And so, i went to school for a profession that i cant stand. Throughout the yrs, i got very sad and resentful that i had never pursued my dream, and slightly envious of those that did. Today, 15 yrs later i finally decided to put an end to my dream, and to turn it into a reality. I never felt so alive and so happy knowing where im headed. It will be difficult to study again after allThese yrs, and i dont know how i will do it financially, but all i know is that i wont let ANYTHING get in the way or stop me this time. It will be a min of five yrs before i can design, but i will decorate in the meantime till i get qualified. Ive been designing my condos and my friends for as long as i can remember. So I started to research on youtube what its like to be a designer - and stumbled across your Chanel . I absolutely love your energy and love how so down to eaeth you are, lets just say the video was only playing for 10 sec before i hit the subscribe button. Thank you! And i will be following 😄

superisraelichick You sound similar to me only I couldn't nail down what I wanted to do when I got my degree. Now I'm older & know I would love this career path but I don't know about going back to school at this stage of the game! I keep thinking perhaps I could do SOME aspect of the design world working for a designer; for ex., I'd be great sourcing furniture/accessories for projects. Is this a job, Karin??😊

I love the subtly in this video, even though you raise some great points about choosing appliances. For example, the point about trying to use all the same brand of appliance. I think sometimes we want to shop around for a good deal on each individual one, but if you're buying a package from one brand, it can be more cohesive in design and usability.

We've been using induction for 10 years and it's so fast and so much easier to controle the low heat for simmering than with gas:)

Came across your channel today and I love it! There are not that many women on KZbin who talk about their real life career and I love the way you present your content. It is really fun to watch and also informative and inspiring! Both the entrepreneur videos as well as those about interior design. (Besides, you're also a fashion inspiration - it's just a pleasure to see your outfits) Greetings from Germany!

Thank you for this series, really enjoying it so far. However, when it comes to induction cook tops I would be a bit careful. Don't know if you are aware of it but it is said that induction produces sounds that - because of their high frequencies - can't be heard by humans but animals. It is likely that dogs and cats react massively when you turn your induction on. Wondering that your retail guy didn't mention it, at least it is not in the footage. Wanted to share this hint with you, even though you published this video about 2/3 years ago. It is a great series nonetheless and really helpful to have such an authentic and informative look behind the scenes. Thank you again. You go, girl!

Hi there! I just found your channel and I'm getting so much out of them! I've designed a refrigerator cabinet combo for a regular depth frig that looks like a counter depth frig. What I did was add a shelf insert behind the frig for wine/cookbooks/nicknacks and one pullout cabinet perpendicular and behind the pantry cabinet for brooms and cleaning supplies. There's still a gap in the back of about 10 inches but it's hidden. What do you think of that idea? I also found an old video from the 50s on kitchen design back when storage and space saving ideas were the rage because of space travel. It was really interesting that they designed around zones then before someone came up with the triangle. Now we're back to zoning kitchens again. Full circle!

On stovetops:. I prefer gas over induction or electric for most cooking. (I hate it when the pan slides all over the place when you're trying to stir. Grrr!) But an induction wouldn't be so bad for an island in that when you have kids around helping you cook, the induction is safer even though I prefer an island with no sink or stove. On ovens:. I get this flash thought in my mind of a little toddler waddling up to a hot stove when mom is pulling out a casserole and planting their baby paws right on the hot door. Takes my breath away every time! I like counter height wall ovens. What do your clients think about placement of appliances?
